Hypocritical cunt, points were made but you canât comprehend them. You say D2 is repetitive, yet everyone has pointed out that all games are repetitive. So what if a game has some âpuzzlesâ or âminigamesâ like you point out, those are typically there to pad the games or are fluff bullshit to distract you from how shitty the core game is. Regardless, those âpuzzlesâ and âminigamesâ become repetitive eventually too.
You say D2 has no depth, I named off a bunch of gameplay elements that directly effect the way the mechanics themselves work. The more knowledge of D2 you have, the better you are at it+the more you can exploit its engine to your benefits. Obviously since youâre half retarded, you didnât understand or take the time to learn them when playing the game, so you missed out on a huge aspect of D2. Its depth and amazing character building that is second to none. When you level up or get new gear, it can drastically change your character, instead of just getting an X amount of predetermined stats on level up or a new sword thatâs in a pre-determined chest every single time you play the game, or a puzzle that never changes on each playthrough. In D2, the experience can be completely different every time you step outside the very first area.
Enemy locations, enemies themselves and the entire levels change with every single playthrough or ârunâ that you do. Itâs as dynamic and varied as it gets. No two playthroughs are the same. Ever.** If anything, D2 is one of the least repetitive games out there because it dynamically changes every single time you play it.**
I donât need to prove that âD2 is the best RPG everâ because I never intended to in the first place. I posted it as an opinion. Obviously one you donât share similar views on, kind of like my views on Zoo and his love for God of War or that dude who loves The World Ends With You. Diablo 2 sucks in almost every sense, and thatâs no unpopular opinion at all. I pity the fools who think that game demands half a brain. Stepped outta it years ago and I regret every second I wasted grinding for bits on a remote server which affected my life in no way.
- the builds suck balls, almost all are not viable;
- the game was buggy as hell: moonwalking, insta-death enemies all around (FE dolls, MSLE, Hephasto insta-kills), town-portal-player-killing, etc;
- the design sucked and got worse every patch, every expansion, removing more and more aspects that still demanded or rewarded some skill;
- the game would simply reward cheating at some point: map hack your way to bosses, dupe so you do more damage and have more life/mana;
- every attempt to correct issues made them worse: increased damage on enemies, enlarged stages and full âmana burnâ modifier only worked if you didnât use map hack;
- the addition of rune words rewarded cheaters (dupers) in such an absurd way the average dumb D2 player would believe a âbuildâ was having a full list of hard or close-to-impossible to find items instead of an appropriate skill selection, as if one would find those items in less than 2 years of constant âplayâ - read âboring as hell grindingâ;
- the so called ârealm eventâ they eventually added ended up being a âserver eventâ which demanded you to spam game creations in order to spawn a game at a specific server, just to obtain yet another overpowered item;
- most skills are useless (Heavenâs Fist has been crap for like 10 years, probably still is)
- melee characters were stupid and useless - they simply wouldnât kill, so players would often refuse to have more than one at a party - just for a skill called âbattle ordersâ, which added life to most players;
- the frame rate would drop down to shit if players had too many minions or cast too many spells;
- it took the developers more than 10 years to believe on FE insta-deaths. Then it took them like 4 tries to actually fix the problem;
- softcore was boring as hell;
- hardcore was boring as hell, too;
- oneâs objective was to kill cows over and over;
- eventually this was changed to kill bosses at a new act over and over;
- got bored? Kill some other boss (Mephisto, Andariel) over and over!
Most RPGs are a waste of oneâs time, but D2 exceeds in turning people into idiots. At least it did before World of Warcraft.
Call of Duty is the modern day RPG, the game play is stale and repetitive, with little to no strategy, but because it is so good at rewarding you with levels and experience, nobody cares. You donât mind grinding for hours because you want to make some kind of âbuildâ (or loadout).

Well, I grew up in the 90s and normally you and I agree on a good bit, but I disagree. There are games that are the shit, that time has decided, âHey, these were great games, and you should be playing them.â Itâs not nostalgia so much as itâs time separating the wheat from the chaff. Play a game like Actraiser or Castlevania IV and try to tell me those arenât amazing games. Time has decided that those were great games. In another 10 years, it may be decided that Black Ops 2 is the best FPS of this generation and it deserves a spot alongside Doom and Unreal Tournament 2004 (but hopefully not.)

OT: nudity and swearing in games isnât sexy or edgy or immersive. it makes me roll my eyes when i hear someone playing a shooting game and the characters canât stop cussing every few seconds, as if thatâs supposed to make it feel like a movie. it doesnât. never played heavy rain (the demo irritated me) but apparently thereâs some nude shower scene that i obviously had to look up. wtf is the point of that shit. SO awkward.

While I do think the 8-way whip was added last minute (you can kinda tell by the level design and enemy placement) the game is fucking amazing. The level design, the bosses, the musicâŚhell, just the pacing and overall vibe of the gameâŚI canât think of too many games of any genre or era that are as well designed in terms of those things as Castlevania IV is.

I agree about the nudity/swearing thing. the Secret Ingredient level of DmC was ridiculous, though other than that, I didnât think the cursing was out of place. Itâs a symptom of them trying to make games more like movies. If youâd told me back in the SNES days if Iâd be hearing âfuckâ in games on the regular, Iâd have crapped my pants. O_O

It does. But then again, I was always that guy who tried to get through the game without using subweapons unless I absolutely had to, no matter what game weâre talking about. so CV4 kinda catered to how I play.
Personally, I think Rondo/DXC are the best games in the series, but thatâs just me. And i DO agree with you on SoTn. I love the game, but it really was a crazy departure from the CV I knew anyway.

A lot of games had to have a lot of imagination cause they didnt have the gfx they do now. I guess people say back in the day cause the whole 8 bit erra completely blew up, there were was talk about video games ever where. Now when I go out to eat or to game stop people always say the stupidest shit like COD series is the best 1st person series ever. And people talk about how GTA games are so fucking amazing. I had Alpha 2 Gold (it was a japanese disc called SF Zero 2: Alpha or something) on the Saturn, but never saw SF Collection for the console.
Maybe it was released after I sold my console, I donât know.
But I was talking about actually playing ST when it was still hot. When the Sega Saturn was released ST was already in the arcades and the first console to have it was the 3DO⌠wich was stupid, because almost nobody bought a 3DO.

3D0 was out when ST was new, and was the only system at the time that could run the arcade pixel perfect graphics(even if missing animation, and parallax). That would be a reason. As for Saturn not getting ST before Collection 1 (1997) could be a number of reasons. With Capcom putting SFA on the system in 95, they probably assumed no one would buy the dated ST at the time. And that would have been a correct guess. ST is the game still played now, not Alpha, but it wasnt like that then, you played the newest available, period. Im sure most original SF Collection 1 buyers played A2G. Again, something not indicative of the future (where A2G/Z2A is shunned to play)

When it comes to FGâs classic is better, but still depends. Capcom especially, Alpha 2 is the most aesthetic FG ever. Everything is right, BGâs, bars, HUD, ect. Its better to look at. So fuck it.
