Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

What depth? You can customize stuff in any rpg. It has the same repetitive gameplay through the whole game, you keep doing the same thing through the whole game, what replay value does it have? Just more of the same gameplay. At least in other rpgs I can take a break and do mini games and win stuff. What do you get in D2? The same gameplay. I can do side quest and solve puzzles that change the game. What does D2 have more of the same game play. You are going to bring up kotkeys? Really it doesnt really add much, because your are still doing the same thing over and over and over again. And you ask what games aren’t repetitive? Really ? I mean really man. By this logic you must think repetitive games are good.

makes me wonder, people who dont like Jrpgs do nothing but level grind. And don’t even bother trying to explore more of the game

Repetetive games are good. Tetris is one o the best games ever made.

What depth?

Attack rating system. Crushing blow system. Deadly strike system. Synergies. Ridiculous amount of character builds for all classes. Crafting. The Horadric cube. Charms. Jewels. Enhanced damage. Damage %% multipliers. Runes. Runewords. Damage reduction %. Magic find. Increased attack speed. Faster cast rate. Block rate %. Gambling. Auras. Buffs. Mercenaries. Ignore target defense. Resistances. -Enemy resistance. Elemental damage % multipliers. Curses. Debuffs. Dodge rating. Block rating.

That’s not even all of it. That’s just random stuff off the top of my head, 1/10th of which I doubt you could even understand, AlanEdrick. AlanEatsDicks.

I never said I don’t like JRPG’s. Seems you missed my post where I praised a bunch of them.

Comes back to thread after a self imposed exile and sees mostly butthurt nerds telling other people their opinions are wrong

Some things never change. The problem with most gamers, especially the vast majority of people in here is that you guys cling so tightly to preconceived notions of what a game should be rather than thinking of what they could be so you guys instantly judge games before even attempting to objectively evaluate and play them yourself. Even when all your biases and prejudices are blatantly on display most of you still deny they exist and then wonder why a few of us condescend to you. It would be nice if gamers were mature enough to judge games based on how competently they delivered on their premises, rather than on what the actual premise is, but most gamers are lured by the temptation of stereotyping whether it’s justified or not (“oh that developer is making it? must be GDLK”, “new game x isn’t like old game y? lol it’s ass”, “this game didn’t need a reboot it will automatically suck”).

Gets off soapbox…man now all you guys will see how short I am

Depending on the game/genre, if the atmosphere and universe is on point then I can be more forgiving if the actual nuts and bolts mechanics aren’t as impressive. It really depends on the aim and execution of the game obviously, but a cohesive game in which the characters, art style, sound, ideas, and everything else coalesce together to create an immersing or escapist experience can be just as if not more satisfying than a game that focuses solely on the mechanics at the expense of everything else. The “cinematic” experience that so many big name publishers/developers seem to chase in an effort to make more money is rarely achieved by them, and more often successfully captured by indie games made with a fraction of the cost however, when a big budget title does achieve that artistic nirvana of the cinematic experience within a game it’s just awesome on a top tier scale that nothing else can match. Which reminds me, the term “interactive movie” in reference to a game is as misused and poorly understood as the term trolling. Just because a game has a lot of cut scenes that doesn’t make it an interactive movie.

I suspect the truth of my post will incite comments regarding my family, penis size, mental capacity, and sexual orientation which I genuinely welcome so carry on gentlemen.

you said it was one of the best rpgs? Attack rating system? Really this adds what to the game play? Still more hours of clicking and doing the same thing. Enhanced damage? Adds what to do the gameplay? Still more clicking. Mercenaries? Still add more and more hours of the same thing. More clicking and clicking for hours. You havent brought up one thing that adds to the the core gameplay. You do the same thing in every level, look for items, kill stuff. And then over and over. It has some of the most repetitive gameplay ever

oh btw tetris isnt a rpg lol. Why even bring it up

Not seeing how repetition is bad at all. It’s single-handedly one of the most important things in life and the reason why most of the greatest shit ever invented by man came about.

If we’re talking exclusively to games then you must hate every game.

Get off your high horse Zoo, no one thinks it makes you look taller living up to your preconceived notions of how people will respo d to you

Besides finding turn based combat boring, another reason I’ve fallen out of love with turn based RPGs in recent years is that most of them especially JRPGs tend to have clunky gear/loot/item/whatever management. The first 3 RE’s handled resource management perfectly, why can’t most RPGs find the balance between streamlined and rewarding the player willing to go the extra mile.

Also as much as I love ARPGs I hate how most of them copy and paste Diablo’s formula. BioWare’s games, the Souls series, Secret of Mana, and Monster Hunter are all smart fusions of the best of both worlds, but I feel ARPGs have so much more untapped potential. The 2D Dark Souls game titled newgame plus is an example of the innovation I’m talking about it tweaks the Souls game play mechanics so that it feels both fresh and familiar in 2D. It will have a limited focus on gear, so you only carry what your character can equip and that makes every piece of gear you get more meaningful.

Yes cause I think D2 is repetitive, makes every game repetitive. Makes perfect sense

Smash should be played with items on at all times. Anybody that plays Smash without items isn’t getting the full value of Smash Bros.

Might as well play Mario Kart without items and zooms or play Mario Party without being a total dick.

Because every game is repetitive.

Zoo plays adventure games and thinks the God of War series is the best action hack and slash games around. He is also a midget IRL and believes in religion. These are facts, and I can’t take an opinion of someone seriously after knowing them.

Zoo does play ST though, this redeems him a bit.

Is it me or has this guy said the same thing for 5+ posts straight, even when people point out his flawed argument?

Bolded shows you lack reading comprehension and don’t even have a basic grasp on Diablo II’s gameplay mechanics. You’ve been talking out your ass for multiple posts now.

What games are these? Do you even have fun playing games? Do you even try to do other things in games then the main main objective?

man I put zoo on my ignore list, so I dont care what he post. And you are about to be on there also since you cant come up with anything that makes D2 not repetitive. You havent made 1 point that changes anything about D2 gameplay, through the game you keep doing the same thing. Clicking on hours on end. If repetitive games are good Angry Birds should be the greatest game ever right?

Oh wow you changed the combat system just to spend more hours clicking and clicking. Doing the same thing over and over again. You fail as a gamer if you think D2 is one of the best games ever made.

Not exactly a gaming opinion but having someone on your block/ignore list is laughable unless he seriously abuses you as much as the internet can do. If people on the internet bother you that much you might as well make a internet panic room.

Well in real life, if you dont like someone most likely you are not going to talk to them. Why should the internet be any different?

Every game in every genre.

They all

Every game I own I have fun playing.

Doesn’t stop them from being repetitive though since you can’t turn a game into a different genre and in the end you’ll still be doing what you’ve been doing all game.

there is a thing though called being too repetitive, which D2 is very good at being too repetitive

How is it any more repetitive then any other rpg?

seems like you havent read a single post ive made.
