SF4>KOF13.
I’m sorry.
SF4>KOF13.
I’m sorry.
You should be.
Yeah.
If you think Plants vs. Zombies is enjoyable in any way I do not want to be friends with you
I thought it was okay. I don’t get the hype behind it.
I fucking hate the EX moves and HD combos in 13. Too retarded.
I love Capcom games since 1991.
Bu I have never played MvC2.
Not even once.
Not even against the CPU.
And I’m proud of that.
Bayonett and Scott Pilgrim are not only 2 of the best games this gen, they are also two of the best games ever made.
I think when people call it a “return to old school fighters” they’re talking about games that don’t hold your hand, have tough execution, and punish you hard for making mistakes. It’s not a ton like the older KoF games, but it’s closer to old school than pretty much any other major fighting game this generation.
And other than the HD/Max mechanic being a bit too powerful and the metagame starting to become kind of one dimensional, it’s probably THE best fighting game of this generation. It’s definitely more fun to play than most of the others.
Best by default is still kinda’ sad though.
Mr Karate EX Ryuko Ranbu too stronk
I don’t care about EX moves and HD combos so much; I just wish everyone wasn’t so free to jump-ins and everything didn’t trade so much.
I like it too for the most part, just not as a fighting game soundtrack. It just didn’t match the gameplay imo. Kinda wish it was like MVC1 music.
On another note, I need to go the fuck to sleep.
Catherine <- seriously needed/needs more attention
It’s not best by default, it’s a fantastic game. I do agree with what @M.D. Said about things trading. There really aren’t any truly safe moves in the game which kind of sucks when you’re getting ready to unleash a super and it gets stuffed. The game’s high risk.
I think the runner up would be BlazBlue. It’s not as sound as Guilty Gear but it’s a great game in its own right, especially Calamity Trigger. I wish they’d go back to that type of game but balance it out better.
There are totally safe moves, it depends on the spacing and again we come back to EX moves. Nothing is going to stop Athena from throwing out an EX Fireball from fullscreen, nothing is going to stop Kim’s EX Hungetsuzan and very, very few things can punish it, and you can’t safe jump or approach Beni at all on wakeup when he has meter. 4 Frame EX SRK AND 1 Frame EX Command Grab… Fuck.
I’d love to play a koryou version that removes EX moves, EX Supers, and HD mode.
Jet Set Radio Future has a longer entertainment life and replay-ability than most IP’s of the current gen era. I can go back and gladly play thru JSRF far more times than I can tolerate the most recent Splinter Cells… Which haven’t made the most graceful transition to this gen.
Also, Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks is the BEST thing to come out of the franchise.
^^^^The BEST
Huh… What do you know, Lego Star Wars came out the same year.
2005 was a great year in gaming.
The thing about using EX moves and EX Supers is that it takes away your ability to do an HD combo. So in using one thing, you lose the ability to use another. If there’s one thing that really is brilliant about KoFXIII, it’s the way they implemented meter management. You can got for a more balanced plan of using EXs when you need to, or you can stockpile meter in an attempt to land an HD/Max. Overusing EX moves can out you in a bad spot too if you need to do a GCR. So if someone wants to spam EX moves, good on them. It just means I’m going to have an easier time with them because they’re burning meter.
You would think so but landing said EX into a combo or using one Drive Cancel in said combo goes back to the problem I keep bringing up. One combo does almost half your life, now you’re in the corner, and now you have to guess block hop pressure, GG. This is especially true with the top tiers.
It’s another piece of piss ‘tower defence’ game and you know it
