Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

Lucky for you it’s one of those statements that doesn’t have to be said.

You getting stomped now.

Sega has been the most consistent Japanese dev this generation. They are just a terrible publisher…oddly enough I’m not even sad they bought Atlus. More people to share the pain I have wakin up everyday.

Rip NA Yakuza releases.

Time to learn Japanese! All hail region free PS3/4

I disagree Platinum games been more consistent then Sega this generation. A lot of Sega’s games early this gen where fucking terrible, bringing their late gen average down.

Outside of early Sonic games, what was bad about Sega’s output?

They were on a roll this gen, barring some dumb decisions (always online required for VF5 being one of them).

I do not care about GTA 5, unlike what seems to be the rest of the world.

Yeah. You ARE alone on that one.

I don’t care either.

Sonic Colours,Generations,Yakuza 3,4,5,Binary Domain, valkyria chronicles 1,2,VF5FS great job on the arcade ports like VF2 and virtual on. As a developer they are amazing they just took a while to get Sonic right. All of these games are at the top of their respected genre. Like Binary Domain is one of the best TPS games this generation but since Sega blows at advertising no one knows what it is lol. From JRPG’s to TPS to Fighting games they still got it. Great devs just terrible publishers.

I agree surprised I totally forgot about them lol. Probably because Platinum is a given, though Sega has more variety in their library.

Early stuff like The Club, Viking: Battle of Asgard, Golden Axe: Beast Rider, and Stormrise was ass.

Notice most of those games deal with western studios aka Sega published them? It seems when JP companies deal with 3rd party devs they don’t end up with good products. There are a few small exceptions in the industry like castlevania but some hate that game too. I’m guessing their budgets are limited but yeah those games were mediocre at best. Capcom hasn’t had a good time either I hope this gen they just stick to their roots.

Outside of the Club, All the games I mentioned are from Western studios owned by Sega so it still count towards their average.

I’m just gonna chime in and say that Binary Domain was fantastic. Its too bad whenever I tried to play online, I only got matched with Japanese players, it wasn’t unplayable, surprisingly, but it wasn’t great either.

Wait, some guys had the Kiryu skin, it was great.

Yeah the online had problems from day one. Most of these issues were fixed via patches like infinite health etc. Sadly the damage was done and it doesn’t help that the game fell under the radar. I respected how smooth the controls were and finally a TPS game that had a very solid single player campaign. These days multi is usually the highlight of a game which is sad.

Yeah I can agree with that even then Sega has pumped out too many good titles in different genres. When you look at Capcom or some of the other big players from Japan it’s hard to name more than 4-5 titles that were at least above average. Square has fallen big time and so has Capcom, P* specializes in action for the most part. This is why many devs have a grim outlook on Japan. Imo it’s just a slump and I’m sure Deep Down from Capcom will be amazing. I have faith in FF15 but I’m unsure if that will ever come out. I think PSO will be extremely profitable in the west I mean people are gobbling up FF14. Hopefully buying Atlus helps them with localization but I definitely still have doubts. Also how can I forget that Sega all stars franchise? And the new After Burner climax? Yeah Sega still has it, I think SE and Capcom will do better this new gen though.

+1 for Binary Domain being pretty awesome. Only thing I didn’t like were some of the annoying giant boss fights.

JP players are the only ones keeping that game alive with any sort of community. That and a few other games I played online this gen were 99% Japanese players. Those games I played would be completely dead without them.

Reminds me I need the Binary Domain online trophies. Definitely want those just in case I ever go back to platinum the game. The campaign has great replay value because of the way endings/character choices work too. Really liked that aspect to the game.

But P&B did not teach you geography. :stuck_out_tongue:

-Kingdom hearts 1 > Kingdom Hearts 2

-Kingdom hearts story isn’t that complicated. The hardest thing about the storyline is keeping up with it since its on so many consoles.

-Atlantica in Kingdom hearts 1 was a pretty good world.

The Club was fan-fucking-tastic. About the only Sega game (that they’ll make) that I would want to see a sequel to. Shooting people as a racing game…fucking brilliant.

Since everybody participating in this thread is derailing it with unpopular cartoon/animu opinions (I’m looking at you Louie), I guess I will chip in and give my two cents:

*Ed Edd n’ Eddy sucks.
*
This opinion might not be unpopular with SRK’s older crowd (see pre-2009 sign up dates), but it definitely IS an unpopular opinion with the post-09’er novices.

It was okay in 1999 and 2000. But the show dropped to a new level of badness around the time CN premiered the 3rd season (on a consistent basis).

I remember some dude (M.D. I think) posted a laundry list of reasons why Ed Edd n Eddy sucked, in one of havatachu’s shitty threads. But whatever M.D. said, I’m sure you faggots will disagree with it.

Look at what SRK has become now. A majority of the posters in the recent 9/11 retrospective thread said they were in the 1st grade. All of you novices born in the transitional years between the early and mid 90’s can suck on a big one.
