I have like 14 emulators on my computer and SCUMMVM and DOSBOX, those are all the games I play on my pc.
I just got my ass handed to me last night by an amazing Ibuki player at 3S, I was toying around with her last week, kinda wish I had stuck with her this week, but Im more of a Ken player I guess.
People forget companies like EA and Capcom are businesses that are out to make money, and practices we fucking hate like online passes, DRM, DLC and re-releases are there to make them money. 99% of gaming companies are out there to make money, they don’t care if their product is good or not as long as it sells.
I hate a lot of the things these companies are doing right now, but online paywalls when it comes to next-gen consoles takes the fucking cake.
Valve also has the goal of making money.
Their philosophy is just a different one, since they have realized that treating your customers well, keeping autonomy by staying a private company and making amazing games and online infrastructures, nets you a cult-like fanbase, a shitload of money and free advertisement for everything you do.
You don’t have to be a money grubbing scumfuck to run a successful business.
You just have to deliver a great product.
Here’s an unpopular opinion: Valve games are overrated. Half-Life series is nothing special, Portal series is boring, TF2 is meh and the L4D series are their best games next to Counter-Strike(which was originally made by a couple of college kids, by the way.) L4D has solid gameplay, but what really makes those games fun is the coop experience with friends and dealing with the crazy situations that are thrown at you that are always unique because of the “AI director.”
OH SHIT, “TANK!!”
Modern Counter-Strike games are ruined quite a bit by retarded hitboxes and stupid radars.
Btw. I think the whole upvoting/downvoting system of this site, ruins this thread.
As a gregarious animal, man will always look for approval, which leads to this thread mostly containing popular opinions of our subculture.
Tony Hawks Underground is the worst game in the series.
Unfortunately, most people are too blinded by the story mode to notice the fucked up and unbalanced gameplay.
The biggest problem with the game is that infinite combos can be pulled off with ease. Many simplistic lines were abused to pull off infinite combos. The kinks in the walking mechanic gave people the ability to pull off even more endless combos without having to abuse known lines. Neversoft ****did not ****implement a balance-sabotaging algorithm that activates after a certain number of points and/or multiplier are reached. Not only that, but they didn’t put a multiplier cap on the combos, which meant people would gain exorbitant points. Also, player controlled vehicles could be used to grief others.
THUG’s netplay community was fucking stupid. Matches would last more than one hour because some dumb fuck would go out of his way to break the score counter. And no, the time limit on the match wasn’t set to one hour, the players who bailed would wait in place until the remaining player finishes his combo. People dropped THUG 1 after 4 months and went back to THPS3.
tl;dr version: Tony Hawks Underground is an overrated, broken, piece of shit.
People like to crown it like its one of the best games ever. Its a pretty average game. But dealing with Valle CC’s was the most annoying thing in all of existence. Like, my god, i really hate that shit.
Without valle ccs its just ST with airblocks and shit. Might as well play ST.
SF4 is actually fucking amazing.
The only 2 bad things I can think of is the crouch tech option select (I feel option selects in general are fucking retarded but for some reason they’re seemingly part of every SF game), way too fucking many characters and unblockables.
The thing is every SF game has a lot of flaws, the question is if the qualities of the game outweigh the flaws and my answer to this is definitely yes.
It’s the first fighting game I really have interest in learning and playing ever since SF2 WW and Tekken 3.
It looks fucking great, the speed isn’t at a level that makes you feel like you’d have to have adhd or a coffee overdose in order to play it, it has very tight combo execution, the clock is actually a strategic resource (God I loved the Justin vs SnakeEyez set) due to the game not having insane damage and focusing/fadc’ing are nice new mechanics that make the game unique from it’s predecessors.
I still think that focus attacks and FADCs are horseshit, but that could be because I play mostly charge characters. Having the game repeat button inputs for one additional frame would go a long way towards making me feel a bit better about it, but that’s just nitpicking.
Dat JFLS. Jin was a character that was designed to be a thoroughly average character with no overt strengths or weaknesses, but JFLS bumped him from being pretty good to being a menace.
