Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

You know the saying, ignorance is bliss.

Why should I bother giving a shit about FPS games? It’s not my thing, simple as that. I don’t like them. And the people surrounding them are fucking unbearable. Even more so than me and I know I’m extremely unbearable to even keep around.

I play what I like, I expect others to do the same for what they want.

Hey I do the same, except I don’t shit on entire genres just because they aren’t my thing. It make me look like an ignorant asshole who doesn’t know what he’s talking about, which is how you look right now.

And everyone already knows I’m an ignorant asshole so what’s the problem here?

All art has subjective and objective qualities. If it’s “not your thing”, in other words, the subjective strengths don’t appeal or resonate with you, then that’s fine. But, seeing as how their are games out there like Doom which, while they may not appeal to you subjectively, are still objectively EXTREMELY well designed and accomplish what they are trying to accomplish, you should at least acknowledge that these games are not shit, even if they aren’t for you.

Also the reason people are accusing you of ignorance is you seem to be acting like all fps are of the COD, hitscan-hide-behind-cover-till-your-health-regens snooze fests. As what’s-his-name pointed out, there are also oldschool fps like Doom and Quake which play more like 3d shmups or 3d action platformers then what you probably think of when you hear the acronym “fps”. Not to mention there are also games that technically fall under the mantle of fps, like Metroid Prime and Mirrors Edge, but are in truth nothing like the rest of the genre.

Again, you are making a sweeping over generalization based on what I can only assume is the COD fanbase.

Also don’t insult yourself.

That’s fine, but if a work of art is not flawed, is objectively solid in its design and accomplishes its goal, you shouldn’t say it’s shit or “doomed” just because it’s subjectively not your thing. You should respect it and acknowledge its strengths. There are plenty of solid games out there, with design philosophies that I do not enjoy, but I acknowledge them as well designed, good games, even if they are not for me.

I didn’t think you where an ignorant asshole, but i guess if your going to own it…that’s cool…?

I already know I’m an asshole, I already know how much I annoy people and piss people off with my statements. Why bother hiding it or making excuses? I already know I’m a crappy human being, might as well embrace it.

Mom take away your Linkin Park albums or something?

Who?

Unpopular options eh:

-uncharted 3 is over rated and a retreat of the last game

-GOW became boring after 3

-Leon had the worst part in RE6, name and Chris had better campaigns

-KHs is for gay men and tumnlr fangirls

-SF4 is only popular cause more scrubs can compete

-Once you’ve seen 1 high level MVC3 match you’ve seen them all

-FF8 was not that bad and is actually a pretty decent game

-Nintendo games have not evolved since the N64 era

-GTA is a lazy garbage series

-Sonic games should have always been 2D

-AC is a shitty series that gets far too much credit

-Action RPGs suck and turn based well always be more strategic and legit

-Injusrice is better then MK9

this is an unpopular opinion due to it requiring some actual thinking

why are gamers blind to see that move controls needed a VR combo in order for it to make absolute sense? its really scaring me the lack of not even imagination but just plain logic seems to be floating away each generation

I think Super Troll needs to bust out the dictionary and look up the word “Unpopular” cuz he’s missing the mark on a number of those bullet points.

And GOW got boring after GOWII (I’d argue in the middle of GOWII, i struggled to finish it.)

4 had a “responsibility” to wrap up the crazy (but ballsy) shit introduced in 2, but it still should have been executed better and should have trimmed all of the fanservice. And Peace Walker (which has to be considered canon since MGSV is using a lot of PW as a foundation) went over the tilt in the silly department, and there really wasn’t anything in 3 that warranted going in that direction. MG/MGS has humor and silly shit and always should, but 3 was the last MGS that still had a story that didn’t throw your disbelief out the window.

Because not all of us want to strap a TV to our face. You have been told this multiple times. Motion controls worked great when they programmed correctly, I didn’t need VR to play Skyward Sword, I’d have hated VR when playing Skyward Sword.

Look Occulus Rift look like it could be really cool, but it’s not the perfect fit for every single kind of game, or gamer. There’s are still tons of game types I have 0 fucking interest in using VR for, motion control or not.

On-topic: RPGs are terribly boring. I can almost see the appeal, but every time I’ve tried playing one has been excruciating. I think “RPG elements” can add a LOT to a game.

Remember when everyone used to call Zelda an RPG? That always drove me fucking crazy.

…I am not a Zelda fan, though I like Link.

Eh, you’re probably better then you think you are.

Demon’s/Dark Souls, son.

Also this statement implies that turn based is more strategic then action in general. In which case you might as well say that turn based rpg’s are more strategic then fighting games.

I think “strategic” combat is pretty universal. Any developer can implement it in any genre with enough know how.

I like to play Smash Bros with the items set to very high. I also like moving stages like Poke Floats and Big Blue, the more random shit the better. I feel that playing Smash with no items and only on certain stages is like playing Tekken 3 only for Tekken Ball.

+1. I’d also like to say that you should play some of the best of what that genre has to offer before you completely disregard it. Play DOOM 1/2, www.quakelive.com (Quake 3 for some of the best FPS multiplayer out there) Unreal Tournament series, Quake 1 and a few other games like Rise of the Triad(game has an insane amount of platforming) Shadow Warrior and Blood. If none of those games do anything for you, then fine, shit on FPS games all you want. These games offer so much more than just shooting at shit…there’s platforming and exploration to be had, and you need some skills and reactions to be able to get anywhere.

If someone said to me all character action games suck, I’d tell them to go play Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta and DMC.

If someone said to me all Action RPG’s sucked, I’d tell them to go play Diablo 2, Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen and the Souls games.

Etc. Etc.

Wut. Action RPG’s take more strategy based on the fact action happens in real time to a point where you need to be able to think and react on your feet, instead of having all the time in the world to “take your turn.”

ARPG’s >>>

Turn-based RPG’s can be boring, but if you haven’t played an Action RPG with off-the-fucking-wall action then you’re missing out. Check out www.pathofexile.com or Diablo 2 if you can. Some ARPG’s have more shit going on than character action games and FPS.

Yeah… I’m playing the third… right after Sleeping Dogs… just can’t get into this shit…

I always turn Active on in turn based RPGs. It makes them better cuz you can’t just wait on your turn to decide what to do. Enemies will just skip your ass and attack you anyway for sittin on the turn.

Most arpgs take no strategy.
