this thread reminds me that I need to pickup DQV. While I can’t say DQ is better than FF, thats because I have only a limited exposure to it (10-15 hours into DQ7, beat DQ8 and DQ4). I think the games are awesome, and the DQVI remake is looking pretty good as well.

always being on your toes makes it an adventure/beat em up game, which is not what an rpg should be IMHO. you want to be on your toes then play a fps.
you couldn’t even enjoy the visuals of ffXIII during a fight because 99% of the time you had to focus on the stagger bar and your leader’s hp bar. shit was wack. i guess without so much emphasis on the stagger bar, ffXIII’s battle system would have been the closest thing to perfection of a battle system in an rpg…who knows.
Without the stagger bar, FFXIII’s battle system would be closest to…FFX-2’s.

I liked the story. Mainly the bits about how the world has moved on after how FFX ended. I didn’t really like the conflict, or the “comedic” or “inspiring” moments. Not quite as bad as FFX’s infamous laugh, but still.
Battle system is super dope. One of my favourites, definitely. Game’s pretty tough too, throwing various challenges your way. Job system is awesome.

Vampire Savior is the greatest fighter of all time. I understand the title says unpopular, but much like with the VF series, everyone on SRK says they think the game is awesome yada-yada-yada, but almost none of you actually fucking play. Or at most it was for five minutes.
