you fail as a gamer, if you think DC was over-rated and never played Jet Set Radio, Red Dog, legacy of kain soul reaver, Shenmue, Resident Evil Code: Veronica, Powestone 1 and 2, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, your lack in the DC fails at life
What happened to the SF3 series and SF4 series? They don’t exist to you?
I have one, played those, and win at life whilst standing by what I said (what I said goes hand in hand with that).
NES > DC
Genesis > DC
SNES > DC
PS1 > DC
PS2 > DC
Master System~DC
2600~DC
- MW2 is everything that’s wrong with videogames today and everyone who owns a copy of it should die a slow, excrutiating death of suffocation
- GTA got boring after VC (maybe even before)
- Final Fantasy games are overrated
- Starcraft is about as fun as text-based RPGs
- AvP is about as unique and interesting as dirt
- Eve Online is to normal people what calculators are to nuclear physicists- dull and superfluous
- Dragon Age Origins did absolutely nothing that wasn’t done before, and didn’t even do anything old in a way that was “breathtaking”, “fascinating”, or any of the other crap reviewers said it had done.
- WoW is still the best MMORPG out there (note: I wouldn’t play it again if I was offered money)
theres no hope for you
Lol.
I dunno.
I’d say I’m doing pretty damned well.
Hell, I even never double post.
And most of these games can be played on other systems and played a lot better. Just throwing that out there…
If it’s just the odd clip or two, Machinima can be entertaining. Otherwise as a visual medium it’s absolutely horrible.
At the time, the majority of those games were DC exclusive and for the few that weren’t, played the best on the DC. Just throwing that out there…
im not really into console wars, im not going to prove which console is better then other. Though games like Resident Evil Code: Veronica, and some others came to PS2 like how many years later? Though PS2 was a good console. I bought a N64, DC, and PS1 all were good consoles. Im the type of person who buys every console, though I still havent bought a Xbox or 360 yet, maybe one day.
I’m not into console wars either, but I dislike it when people can’t put things in perspective. The Dreamcast, back in 1999-2001, was a fantastic console and offered the most enjoyable home gaming experience available. Does that still hold true in 2010? Probably not, but that doesn’t take anything away from it’s impact it made back in it’s prime.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was one of the most fun game experiences I’ve had. It was incredibly addicting and fun. Finding a game boy wasn’t hard (I didn’t even own one when I bought the game, just because I knew how easy they were to get through friends) and playing with 1-3 friends made it unbelievably fun.
Casting spells to fuse together to make uber spells, having a dedicated healer for the group, etc. Too much fun. I loved that game.
Despite what you may have heard, it is a really enjoyable experience. If you can get the set up for it, I highly recommend it. It is an absolute blast.
There’s a game on sega saturn called grid runner. It was basically an elaborate form of tag I think. It’s been a while since I’ve played it but it’s also extremely fun.
3s will forever be my favorite fighting game, I can’t help it. I know people hate it, whatever though.
I didn’t think much of Dragon Age Origins or Mass Effect personally. Not shitting on anyone who did, although it boggles my mind when games that seem kinda meh to me get accused of reinventing the wheel.
Circle of the Moon is the best RPG castlevania, more so than SOTN. Super 4 is still the best non rpg castlevania however.
I think the older RE games were good, and I love them. Yeah their scare mechanics were mostly stuff jumping out at you, but there were some moments where I was on edge.
I think all the FF games are enjoyable for the most part. I don’t understand why is there a need to adore one and hate another so much. The only one I thought was a bit odd was 2 because of the word memorizing and the hitting yourself to make yourself stronger stuff.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 is the best sports game ever made, and the best THPS game. I don’t see why people like the older ones more, considering you weren’t able to free roam and do missions wherever. Plus the music got way less irritating.
There are some really good console shooters (Yes, I am contradicting my earlier post), but they are reviled by the halo ish generation. They are Timesplitters, Cold Winter, Darkwatch, Red Faction, and the ports of Half-life and Deus Ex. The original half life port for ps2 supports keyboard and mouse for those so inclined (read: me). Secondly there is an original mode not found in any other version of HL called Half Life: Decay. It is a fully cooperative game. Even if you tried to play it yourself you have to control two people and switch between them with select. It’s the best cooperative shooting experience I’ve ever had on console.
I know it’s popular to hate on games that are influential in a way that you disagree with. However, MW2 had a great single player campaign scripting wise, and the multiplayer seemed like it would be fun. I don’t think it’s revolutionizing gaming, but I think it’s a good game.
The original Tomb Raider was one of the most influential and important 3d games ever made. They milked the franchise to death and failed to fix any of it’s glaring problems, leading people to think it was synonymous with crap. People forgot how important it was. It basically had a downfall similar to sonic. Except when crystal dynamics took over (the people responsible for legacy of kain). The series took a big step forwards with Legends and Anniversary. Sadly no one really noticed it had improved. Oh well.
The critics are right about most things I find.
Chi No Rondo > Super IV
Probably my favourite FF game and I only ever played it in single player.
FF chronicles was dope! got it day 1, and that weekend A friend, his gf, and another one of his friends and I played through most of it. It really was awesome when we found out how to combine spells, and the boss fights were just awesome, when you worked together. When I was in Japan me and 3 other guys got hooked on the 1st GBA crystal chronicles, beat the shit out of that game. soo much fun.
As of now, there is almost no reason for anyone to break out a DC. Back then, maybe, but as of '08, not really.
Circle of the Moon was a great game, stll not better than SoTN though. I might be an Alucard fanboy though.
Alucard >>>>>>>>>> the androgynous, homosexual vampires from Twighlight.
THPS 2 was the best one in the series. I think that series fell WAY off when it went to that free roam crap. I much preferred the timed mission structure. I really wish they would release the older ones on the PSN Network and/or XBox Live.
As to the Resident Evil Discussion…
Ok, I understand how people can not like RE5, I really do. But, if you’re going to say that, you have to level those same complaints against RE4. None of the Resident Evil games were the same after Code Veronica, because in RE4 and RE5, you were given so many different and powerful guns, with so much ammunition, that the “on edge” feeling was gone. Controls aside, the limited number of bullets you had in the pre-RE4 games really added a lot to the atmosphere, much more so than the “puzzles.” Nobody was scared by a puzzle, you were scared because you had 14 bullets for your pistol, 3 for your shotgun, and if you opened that door and a Hunter was there, you knew you were fucked. That element is gone from RE, for now at least; so no complaining about how 5 was just a “shoot em up” because so was 4.
On to some other random topics.
Blitz the Leauge 2 online matches >>>>>> Madden Online matches.
Shadow of the Colosus was stupid and boring. Yeah, I said it. I got the story, I really did, but it was still boring. I wasn’t moved at all, I was bored.
Call of Duty: World at War was a terrible game. (Speaking about the single player campaign.)
Dynasty Warriors games are fun, especially if you and friends are drunk.
I thought Final Fantasy X was terrible as well.
We’re talking RE? Cool.
All RE games are fucking crap, mainly because of poor controls. Don’t give me that load of horse shit that “the controls are bad to make the game even more difficult and more survival horror-ish.” Fuck off. Bad controls and bad controls. Period. The earlier games were at least a) somewhat frightening (or tried to be) and b) survival games, with low ammo and the constant fear of death around the corner. The new games kept those awful controls but made them action games. You know what an action game with bad controls is? A pile of steaming, festering, AIDs-inducing shit.
I used to try to argue the point you quoted, but honestly I just look at as I enjoy the older games. They are fun and challenging to me. I don’t hold them up as an objective gold standard for how games are designed. As a long time fan however, I am disappointed that the older design is gone in favor of “No puzzles and kill everything” method of design.
i should drop kick out of moving car for this blasphemy
