Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

But, but, but!!!

Kefka has that music!!!

Truth. Except for the part about Xenogears which fucking owns, but I think we’ve danced that dance before.

I suppose Xenogears’ script is awesome if you’re 14, have mommy issues and never read a book or have any plans to do so in the foreseeable future.

Otherwise, that would be an emphatic no.

Kefka was great because he was a pathetic retard who managed to become the single most powerful being in the planet through deceit and luck. Most villains are these really powerful beings or highly skilled warriors or whatever, while Kefka was not even the best among the Magitek soldiers and always looked like an idiot. He really played to win, that guy.

As for Xenogears, the first CD is excellent story-wise. Perhaps one of the most interesting stories in a JRPG at the time (yeah that’s not really a lot but anyways). The second CD is an aberration that shits on everything the first one did right and completely ruins the game and degrades it into some crappy visual novel / Eva wannabe. If there is a game that needs a proper remake, that’s Xenogears. Leave the 1st CD as it is, rework the battle system to something similar to Valkyrie Profile and completely re-do the second CD and you may have a good game.

Xenogear’s cinematography was pretty awful too. The awkward closeups, stills and the like had me rolling.

Quest 64 was an awesome game. Most of the hate for it is unfounded, probably typical gamer bandwagoning.

the first zelda on nintendo was not THAT good…hella overrated…

im outi

Roberth

It was better then Zelda 2

What O.G. arpg wasn’t?

Ys 3?

I kinda liked it myself. I never understood why it got hated on either, except maybe because you could actually move around and dodge things with your skill and not just have the magic dice say they missed? Hell, I dunno.

Well, Zelda 2 did give Link most of his Smash Bros. moves (like the down stab and the up stab).

OG Zelda on the nintendo was awesome for precisely what it was. A 8-bit recreation of Shigeru Miyamoto’s childhood experiences of playing in the woods around his house and what he imagined were ancient ruins to be explored, monsters to be slayed, and princesses in need of rescuing etc. The further games just built on this until people got sick of it. The moment the Zelda games lost this sense of wonder and exploration in a ruined world (and forcing cutscenes down our throats), the games went downhill. Also the fact that the series repeats itself is detrimental.

Majora’s Mask >>>>>>> Ocarina of Time.

Truth. And Kefka sucks.

Then again, so does just about everybody in FFVI, so big surprise there.

Wind Waker is totally better. Which is why TP kinda pissed me off, they went right back to OoT 2.0 without a whole lot of innovation.

Ocarina of Time wasn’t even that good. The graphics weren’t even good for its time, and the gameplay got old quickly. Wind Waker was better, since Miyamoto figured out that all good games need parry.

No shit. If I see another EvilCloud69 or xXSipherothXx (Because yknow, xXSephirothXx was taken by someone else) on PSN, I’m gonna fucking stab someone.

Yes, you fuckers think it’s a really good game. I might even agree. But there is nothing more uncool nowadays than having a FFVII reference in your fucking screen name. Any other character from any other video game, movie, comic, tv show, etc… I can deal with, but for some reason, FF7 references in screen names just screams “dipshit” to me.

I’m just an angry person =(

Okay here’s my two cents, lol:

Contra 1 & 2 p’wned the living fuck outta Contra 3 (SNES).

Yes C3 had pretty graphics, but I hated the bullshit addon gay’em-play such as the bike and the missles. It wasn’t the difficulty that pissed me off about those parts, but rather that they were contrived bullshit. The last stage was hard as a virgin on a beach in Bahia but was major fun. Also, the overhead stages were broke beyond words in that they spun the stage around - not your character - in single player games (in 2P games the suck did not occur).

Granted, “Sipheroth” is pretty imaginative, and I would give props for that one.

Oh, and graphics matter. A lot. For any game.

I can’t believe that I’m not the only person who shares this sentiment.

Or this one. Good god I love SRK.

Fable 1 and 2 owns…

While I agree with you(at least on Fable II, never played the first one since no option of being female = I’ll pass), how is that an unpopular opinion?

Funny - it’s FF8 that does this to me.

At least Cloud’s journey (note:*** not*** a FF7 fanboy - Cecil/Edgar/Mash/Locke/Ramza ftw) was a journey of growth as a character. As the story went on, you got a handle on how truly weak his character’s actual character was. It was a not story about a hero, but rather a story of a guy becoming a hero through his interactions with others. He became a hero because of the relationships he developed throughout the course of the game, and the strength and maturity he gained from them.

Squall=emo whiner.

“My sister left me - wahhhh!”

(Sniffle).

“I’m gonna just sit here and suck the magic outta monsters, and FF in general.”
