Am I the only one that thinks metroid prime2 is the best one?
Unpopular?
Hmm.
Rock Band sucks. Those fucking nodes are offbeat like shit. Whats the point of a music game when they have rhythm like a white person?
Serious Sam is the best FPS EVAR!
Might have to ask Lobelia.
I liked Zero Mission a lot.
Mass Effect is the most grossly overrated game in recent memory. If someone says the game is good, I can live with that, but when someone claims that it trumps all other RPGâs, including old-school RPGâs, theyâre fucking reaching.
-The RPG concept with six different classes, upgrading stats and acquiring abilities combined with a third-person shooter is a very cool idea. The implementation is what ruins it. Your teammates AI is god awful and wastes all of the precious abilities that you worked so hard to earn, and thus youâre not really upgrading multiple characters, youâre only dealing with your own. The vehicle sequences are fucking retarded.
-The âchoicesâ you make have no significant effect on the game whatsoever, and the only purpose of this is to trick the naive player into thinking that the game is non-linear. When you talk to people in the game, youâre often given the choice of being an asshole, an asskisser, or somewhere in between. Being an asshole gradually builds up your ability to intimidate others to your benefit. Being an asskisser gradually builds up your ability to charm others to your benefit. In case you havenât figured it out, theyâre the same fucking thing. You just gotta pick one and build it up throughout the playthrough of the game. To top it off, being a non-asshole, non-asskisser has no benefit whatsoever. At one point, you get to choose the order of three events, to progress through the story, and at another point, you have to choose which one of two of your worthless teammates gets to die. Whoop-dee-doo. Some dumb people canât see through this and think that his game has soooo much depth because you can make different choices and it affects the game soooo much, when it clearly does not.
-Certain small but important details of the game are very unpolished. Youâll earn 3x as much money as youâll ever need in that game from enemy drops. Seems like a minor blemish, right? Well, the beauty of having to earn money in video games to get the items you want give you a sense of accomplishment. If you spent all your money on a new upgrade, youâre excited to go test it out. If you never ever run into any money problems and can afford the best weapons for all of your characters at any given time, the game is robbed of this. Something as simple as balancing the playerâs cash flow so that items arenât too easily attainable but not too expensive can make this game a lot more enjoyable, but apparently it wasnât worth 10 minutes of the developersâ time. How can the greatest RPG ever made leave such important details so unpolished?
-The sidequests are not sidequests. So you get this optional mission to go to some planet and explore it for whatever reason. For the vast majority of these sidequests, one of two things happen: A) The mission was a trap and you get ambushed by aliens, kill them, and start your next âsidequestâ. B) You kill a bunch of guys and find a corpse, then go home and tell the mission-giver about it and then console them and tell them youâre sorry for their loss. He rewards you for your hard work with a small sum of money that you donât need because youâve made 30x that same amount from the 20 aliens that youâve killed doing the mission.
-New Game + is cool. Being able to play any of 6 classes (which is actually 3 unique classes, and 3 hybrids of the aforementioned classes) is cool. Neither of these things equal replay value. Sure, they can potentially CONTRIBUTE to replay value, but is there really truly a compelling reason to experience the game as a Soldier/Engineer hybrid if youâve already finished it as a Soldier and an Engineer? Now, a lot of good games donât have replay value. Uncharted, Bioshock, etc⌠are not quite as fun the second time around. However, Iâm sick of hearing people say that this game can be replayed over and over and over again for endless hours of fun. Itâs an 8-hour game that doesnât warrant a second playthrough, just like the rest of them. Get over it.
If you donât care enough to read my wall of text, at least read this:
Mass Effect is a fun game, but itâs hardly a AAA game, let alone âone of the best RPGâs everâ. Playing this game felt like as if the developers seemed to have all these awesome, fresh ideas but didnât have the time or budget to realize them, so they had to resort to cheap imitations for non-linear gameplay, depth, sidequests, etc⌠to fool the gamer that they are playing the game that the devs truly envisioned. Kudos to the developers for their awesome ideas, but letâs be honest⌠ME is a posterchild of why developers shouldnât be overly-ambitious and make goals that they canât reach. I guess they were successful though, because they managed to fool people into thinking this is actually a AAA must-own, system-seller, killer app. The game was a hit, and itâs truly a shame that developers are now encouraged to take this sort of approach towards creating video games. Mass Effect is quite possibly the most overrated game in a generation packed with so many overrated games.
You guys are so lucky Sept said this. You know I canât resist console vs console discussion.
Lol you think ME is the best the RPG genre has to offer, and you think gears of war is the best shooter of all time
Itâs you, you are the ignorant one and the reason why video games are shit.
Whoa, settle down.
We all know ME sucks. Just look at how the Mako handles. LOL.
Also, Commander Shepard is a douche mcdouchebag.
You donât like the game thatâs fine but there were several factual errors in your post anyways I donât know why I bothered to respond it seems like this thread turned into an ME hate fest lol so thatâs all Iâll say about it.
waits for another fighting games suck post
DS was right reading comprehension is an important skill to have, looks like you got some brushing up to do.
For the 1239480th time, Fuck you! No making fun of my walls.
I actually enjoyed Mass Effect. I had fun with it. I just donât really think itâs THAT good of a good game. It had its moments, but it not in the same tier of 1p games as Bioshock, Uncharted, and MGS.
VV
???
in other words = gears of war best shooter o all time
this is you, no?
Mass Effect shits all over any of those games.
Bioshock and Uncharted I borrowed from work when they came out (worked at Gamestop at the time) and MGS, I borrowed from a buddy while he borrowed my PS3 import Battle Fantasia. Mass Effect I borrowed from work, then bought it upon returning.
Bioshock was too slow, took forever to get to anything. Stopped in 20 minutes, never touched it again. Drakes, I beat in 2 nights and ofcourse never care to touch it again. MGS, I watched the 1st cutscene, and just got to the point that the âgun with legs that sound like cowsâ had just left. Which is like 15 mins of gameplay.
Mass Effect on the other hand I have gone through, and am doing multiple runs with multiple characters. Yes, just about every bad point you made is true, but exaggerated. Like the outcome of asshole vs asskiss choice overall doesnt really affect too much, but going through again, choosing what you didnt before, gives you a somewhat fresh experience, as you get you see wthats said by choosing that choice.
This is the only non-online game I can even play. And right now, since Iâm having trouble loading Test Drive Unlimited, due to some DLC I bought making the game freeze apparently⌠the only choice at this time is⌠Mass Effect.
Shadow of the Colossus was a PS3 game in PS2âs shoes.
The RPG genre is dying.
RPGs suck. All of them.
The RPG genre is at a fork in the road with no map at all.
There is not much else to do in turn based rpgâs, FFX was the last game to add new shit. That game is about 7 years old.
Real Time RPGS just turn out being hack & slashes/shooters with mad dialogue (Mass Effect or Kingdom Hearts make great examples.)
The genre will probably be survived through handheld. The World Ends With You did fairly well, Pokemon still prints money, and niggas are still eager enough to buy the same games for a 3rd time (Chrono Trigger remake, and other ish).
And turned based strategy is still poppinâ word to developers.
All youâve posted and all you ever post is what you like and what you donât like, but can never back anything up with reasons. You just pull this shit out of thin air. Look at every single post you make. âPS3 fails. LBP sucks, itâs a crap game.â Fighting games suck. ME shits on all of them"
Youâre great at making such passionate and adamant opinions, but if you want to make ANY of your posts worth a shit, maybe consider backing them up with some reasons. If someone says something that I disagree with, I respect that as long as they can actually start a decent discussion. Almost every post youâve made was completely and utterly worthless.
Iâve posted reasons why ME itâs a bad game. The fact that you like Mass Effect over any of the good games that Iâve mentioned doesnât prove that it shits on other games. It just proves that youâre easily fooled by the smoke and mirrors in ME, and you like bad games.
i know im late (havent checked back in a day or two) but:
mass effect was massively overrated .pun intended
I liked Assassinâs Creed. Liked it enough to finish it, at least. But not enough to purchase it.
pretty much all mmorpgs that require you to âleft-click here to move, right-click there to attack the enemy, and press F1-F9 on keyboard occassionally to perform skillsâ are boring and suck. itâs dumb because like 95% of mmos fall into this category.
the only mmorpgs worth playing are monster hunter and pso (the more action-oriented ones) and even then, theyâre not really mmos because youâre only playing in parties of four
I like how overrated and unpopular has turned into âgame I donât likeâ.
End thread now.
LOL @ you comparing me n kh you must not play rpgâs that often.
Lost odyssey, the witcher, persona3 n 4 which reminds me I should check out tales of vesperia lol.
Anyways thesix is right.
