Unofficial Remorandum Thread (PS360+ Compatible with Bonus)

Hey SRKers

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce a future project from the sparky.32teeth.org team
(the same folks that brought you the Sparky Jr line of LED goodness)

This thread is intended to augment the PS360+, the Remora and the ArcEye3 products currently available.

in production now
remorandum
Pomotional Screen Shot

we added an extra super duper bonus.

An expansion port. Yep, you read that right. An expansion port!

an expansion port for what exactly?
well, some of you have a light up ball
some of you have an rgb light up ball
some of you want start and select to light up
some of you have hit boxes with extra buttons that you want rgb leds in
some of you like disco
some of you want more bling

why are you doing this?
well, we decided to go back to our roots with the original sparky that was based on 74HC595 shift registers* (here is a video from 2010)*

also, the Remora is a solid piece of hardware, and we are leveraging that as a platform, extending it with our firmware

Support?
we support our product
we maintain the firmware
we distribute the firmware

Whats up with the names, they’re dumb?
yes, yes they are.
thank our fly by night marketing department.

TL;DR!
It’s an rgb led Controller for your PS360+
Base unit controls up to 8 rgb leds
Expansion port adds 8 more controllable rgb leds
Feel like controlling up to 8*X amount of rgb leds… …sure, stack more expansion ports on top.

The fine print
Remorandum are in no way, whatsoever, associated, affiliated, built in collaboration, supported or endorsed by the manufacturers or individuals involved with any other 3rd party products or vendors, including but not limited to Remora, ArcEye3, PS360+, Sparky Jr

Fun stuff!

I guess you guys weren’t kidding!!! Great stuff!

Oh snap. This might just be the solution I’ve been looking for.

Crap. More boards to buy. I love it!

Ahh Eugene… you kill me!

I was going to add a 5 pin to 6 pin header conversion for the LED player interface between the TE-S and PS360+…

on TE-S the 6 pin header is vcc ground player 1-4 LEDs… on ps360+ there is no ground… it goes vcc player 1-4 LEDs…
i always have to do a wire swap lol… might be a nice touch to add that in there…

i like the idea.
will see what we can do in next run

Nice… maybe add a second 6 pin header there so people can bring in the guide button too from the header next to the player LED indicator… plus you’ll have turbo button there (which isn’t used for anything now) which you can use for something…

that’s getting crazy. but add it to my list of stuff to do.
i am focusing m3n0r4? on remora to ps360+

lol its just one more header (and only 1 trace from that to get guide button)… the board is meant to make it easier after all?

eeeexcellent =D

So is the Remorandum configurator intended to be more or less the same as the Sparky Jr. config GUI, just adjusted to work with the Remora? Or is the functionality different or improved somehow?

Sparky Jr Remorandum Configurator
The configurator will be enhanced to leverage the 3 shift registers on the Remora board for controlling the LEDs

Even though the Remora from @Toodles is NOT open source, it pretty much uses this circuit, slightly modified specifically for inputs as well.

Pomotional Screen Shot

Hey hey everyone
here is a bit of an update (we did fall asleep for a little)

Last week we received our latest prototypes of the

sparky jr.
remorandum

below are some shots with short decriptions

main board!
what did you say? main board?
yep!

above is the remorandum main board. unpopulated of course.
first off: this is the ps360+ model, as you may notice, we leverage a well known shift register open platform mentioned in a previous post.
bottom left: ps360+ interface (but all pins are labelled so feel free to freestyle to other pcbs)
top rows: your rgb led connectors
center, off center right: damn skippy, expansion board port. for those who want more rgb leds (balltop, hitbox, case light, servos, whatever) this is where you plug in the…

expansion board!

you will notice here at the bottom right, the connector to the main board.
both are designed to overlay each other. the silkscreen defines some additional buttons (this is for reference to the code only), start, select, and stick, with five extra rgb ports.

super bonus.
if you already have a microcontroller such as an arduino, netduino, picChip… …you get the drift. you actually DON’T need the main board. simply connect your wiring from your microcontroller to the labeled pins, CLK, LAT, DATA, GND, VCC and go to town.

the stack

with the mainboard, above you can see how the expansion board fits on top.

 1. you can add multiple expansion boards
 2. each expansion board can handle up to 8 addressable rgb leds

omg, you have got to be kidding me.
say hello to my little friend.

touchscreen 2.8" TFT interface anyone?

a few notes.
[]we do believe in the fairplay of open source
[
]we have contacted and received certain permissions for the primary design and code libraries
[]there are no screensavers
[
]there are no games (although you can add simon if you want) (the touchscreen interface has simon built in)
[]it is firmware updatable
[
]it’s scalable

did we say open source? this means you can go and make your own boards from the files, add code libraries, and share alike.
see y’all real soon!

Oh this is so good. My imagination is going crazy. The tech is maturing so fast. I love it. You guys are awesome.

Holding my projects till this comes out. Any ETA.

Freakin awsome!! you guys taking preorders? i’m pretty sure they’ll be gone in a heart beat.
