Unleash the Elements: The Storm Team Building Thread

who claim to be better with ammy?

you might get pretty far just with level 3 xfactor ammy hyper spamming.
don’t you guys hate when people use storm and lightning attack all over the place?

Thinking about Doom/Storm/Frank. Just because I like all 3 of the characters a lot. (I’m a photographer IRL and love zombie movies so Frank is a character I really like, and Storm is one of my favorite Marvel chars)

I personally think the team has potential, but I’d like to get other’s input on it. Thoughts?

Man Storm with Shopping Cart is STUPID!!! I like it but I personally don’t like Frank, his style just doesn’t click with me.

I started messing around with Storm last night, and I like her speed and mixup potential.

Right now my team is Vergil/Nova/Skrull. If I add Storm to my team, I think the order will be Storm/Vergil/Nova. If I can land a 700k combo with Storm, I should be able DHC into Vergil to finish the job. Since I run Vergil first, I rely on high/low mixups and unblockable setups using Nova’s Centurion Rush assist and I use tenderizer assist to help build meter and extend Vergil’s combos.

Does Nova’s assist work well with Storm? Also, will Storm’s whirlwind assist help Vergil get in like shooping cart or any other beam assist?

Frank on anchor is a turn off. Even though justin wong uses him if vergil or spencer die, he’s fucked and you will be two. Frank can get to lv.3 anywhere using missiles so first can be a viable spot but not really. I’ve played storm doom before and its awesome but I’d recommend figuring something with your frank to save you because right now he’s a liability.

Perhaps Frank/Storm/Doom, running Shopping Cart/Whirlwind/Missiles as assist choices?

Also, what about Storm Anchor? Yay or nay?

So I have a feeling that Log Trap might be one of the best assists for Storm (tri-jumps plus easy conversions off of her launcher), but for some reason her bnb combo off of S doesn’t seem to work too often (the air dash Hx5 one). What’s the deal?

Log trap has heavy hit stun plus causes a wall bounce. Any move with a special property runs up hit stun.

I would think for that team Vergil would be a better anchor, but I’ve seen first hand how stupid level three Nova can be  Anyways run it Vergil/Storm/Nova instead. Vergil can use Storms assist in certain ways similar to cart, but the distance isn’t as far as cart keep that in mind, for his left/right mixups plus once you push them to the corner, something whirlwind is good for, you still have your unblockables with Nova. Storm has a time trying to build meter of her own for her combos so this at least lets you build meter for her and if need be gives you a safe DHC if your Vergil needs to get out of there and puts Storm at a safer distance than Spiral Swords, though that one is still good and safe. I haven’t actually tried Vergil’s assist to extend Storm’s combos to allow for flight combos but I don’t see why it wouldn’t be possible. Assuming you are using Rapid Slash you may only be able to do them in the corner but she can just as well set up left right mixups midscreen with that assist and convert to regular jump strings for a decent 630-650k combo.

really? i would think nova/storm/virgil would be better because although nova is a good anchor, virgil is a better anchor in my opinion. and the zone game you would have with javelin/pulse/whirlwind is pretty nifty. not to mention that rediculous damage you would get from nova force into hail storm.

Def have vergil anchor. Nova works better with less meter i.e on point.

I understand that Vergil is a stronger anchor but you lose more putting him on anchor with that team than on point. Vergil gains the left/right mixup plus unblockables on point. All Nova will gain is two assist that cover the same plane with Vergil’s being the better assist.

how does storm play with vipers unblockable setups ? might be interested in learning her if she can help viper

I was curious, I’m thinking of running Storm in 2nd with Ammy in anchor slot… I see it’s been touched on before but I was just wondering how you all would suggest protecting the assist call?

I’ve been using Storm on my secondary team on point a lot and I’ve had fun using her with Dr. Strange [bolts] and Akuma [tatsu]. Storm can stay full screen and zone with whirlwinds and typhoons and when the opponent gets comfortable I rush in behind Bolts assist. It’s VERY easy for Storm to confirm from those and go into a combo.

I’m working on a new team of Hsien-ko/Storm/Trish. I play defense until i can dhc into ice storm catching any stupid assist call and then wreck with over use of the gold armor pendulum. If Hsien dies then it’s storm trish which is great as well. Sound okay? (AE player in unfamiliar territory)

Hello Everyone.
I have picked up my old MVC2 team of Storm, IM, Doom. I started out experimenting with Storm(whirlwind) on point, Iron Man(repulsor blast) on backup, and Doom(rocks) on anchor. If anyone has any experience with these 3 characters or can offer some tips i would greatly appreciate it. I am just looking for as much information and technology as possible to make this team as effective as i can. Thank You.

Hey guys just trying to hear your opinions about what characters benefit off of storms whirlwind assist. Who, why, and how. Much appreciated

I use to run that team as well and was thinking of playing around with it soon for MvC3 but I personally would run missiles. Mostly because I play Storm with missiles already but the lockdown with rocks could be something to look into.

Personally I think whirlwind benefits those who can combo off it or set up a decent left/right mixup on the opponent since it’s one of two assist that I can think of that pushes the opponent a distance, on hit or block, while leaving them grounded. I think it would be a better neutral assist if it covered longer distances on assist calls and had more hit stun but for what it is I like it. The downside to it though is I don’t think it’s strong for characters who don’t have great left/right options and have problems getting in and are only good when in close I.E. Haggar. Whirlwind pushes the opponent back too much so trying to use it to cover your approach, when not plink dashing, is counter productive until they reach the corner. My personal experience with it comes from Spiderman, I have setups that allow Spidey to cross up quickly while forcing the opponent to block Storm correctly of soft knockdowns and tech roll situations. That added to the new discovery that whirlwind let’s me crossup in the corner with Spidey to allow more damage off of combos and set up fuzzy guard situations makes it straight with me.

I was kind of looking for specific characters that worked with her assist. I don’t like the fact that she comes out in front of the character which makes it very hard to call her safely. Its happy bday city with her. I don’t like the fact that she is supposed to have the most durability as a projectile or beam assist in the game but her durability dissipates as the distance increases and the assist doesn’t even go full screen. She is a below average character with a bad assist. She is a hindrance to have on a team and she is my favorite character. I am looking for characters that can benefit from her assist. ALL OF THEM SUCK
