I agree with you on that. Honestly I can’t properly use her assist during beam spam without buffering the assist with my own projectile before moving in. I would rather use LA but they changed the angle and the THC is useless to me. Double typhoon is just slow for combos and as an assist in general. As for characters I’d say most keepaway characters can use it to create distance, Dormammu, Deadpool, Chris, Hawkeye, Arthur, Ghost, MODOK, keepaway based Doom, etc. The simple fact that they can cover her and buffer her assist call in with their own spam helps, but the assist itself does no chip and only helps in creating distance. On the opposite end though I think teleport characters can use it in multiple ways. Obviously you have your normal left right mixup, but then you have characters with stupid cross up hit boxes that can create ambiguous mixups. Wesker for example, in the corner, can start on the ground with a block string teleport above and behind opponent and Storm’s assist will push the opponent back into the corner around the same time j:s: would hit and the opponent would have to switch back to the correct direction to block it. Other characters with teleports can create this as well. I’ll test it out later today to see what other benefits you could possibly get with it for other characters but like you said the assist is weak compared to how it use to be.
So the more i play Storm/IM/Doom, the more i enjoy this team. It is very difficult for me to incorporate rocks and repulsor blast into a BnB for storm. It seems to work best when i play keep away with repulsor blast and rush down with rocks. I can create mix up opportunities with rocks and if repulsor blast hits, i can get a free launch either into a TAC or back down into hailstorm. Also i noticed that you get a few seconds to pull a THC trick with iron man ( like marlinpie’s doom with ammy ), especially in the corner. This works if your front man is either storm or doom. Order with this team is also very flexible. As none pose a real xf lvl 3 comeback threat, all of them can do it. All 3 also have infinite’s, which gives this team more options.
As far as match ups go i seem to have a shit ton of problems against virgil and dante. them coming down on top negates rocks and rush down and i can only keep them out so long with defensive/repulsor blast because i hardly gain any meter.
Storm is pretty powerful in xf3 and can convert off most her stuff. Also you can use repulsor blast to go into fly loops for BnB combos
hi guys, can someone help me here?
i liked team santhrax in mvc2 and obviously im going to keep storm and sent but who can replace captain commandos anti air?
is dante a good option? i cant use him very well.
cheers.
Okay so I’m curious… what assist out of these three do you think benefits Storm the most.
-Akuma Tatsu
-Sentinel Drones
-Doom Missiles
Assume Storm is in 2nd position and the assist is anchor. So it’s the only one she can rely on. I know all of them are good but things I’m looking to take into consideration are things like 1.) How well she protects the assist. 2.) Which covers her bad matchups best? 3.) Which helps her neutral game most. Etc.
I use the Tatsu assist with Storm myself. It keeps opponents from rushing in too much, it negates projectiles and somewhat covers Storm approach and most of all, it’s very easy to get a decent combo if the Tatsu connects.
Doom Missiles, and to a greater effect Sentinel Drones allow Storm to dash around for left/right mixups as well as her high/low mixups. I don’t have much experience with the Drones, but I use Doctor Strange’s Bolts assist with my Storm squad and that helps her control the screen horizontally the same way Drones do.
I highly endorse Storm players to put time into Doctor Strange and switch between the Bolts assist for offense and the Eye of Agamotto for defensive coverage.
I was thinking of trying out Dr. Strange but I have some concerns. I’d run it as Strange/Storm/Akuma probably but Akuma and Storm cover the same space for their assists and I think Strange could stand to have 2 assists to work with. He could probably also use a good lockdown assist so he has time to open people up since his cr. l doesn’t hit low. My main concern is about his mobility though. Another concern is that Bolts whiff on smaller characters. I don’t want to have to change my assists all the time. I’m not a tournament player but I don’t want to have to lose a game first because I didn’t know until the character selections were made that I’m fighting someone who it won’t work against.
At this point I’m trying to decide between 2 main team setups:
-Chun/Storm/Akuma (I really love this team but damn… so many bad matchups)
-Magneto/Storm/ (Sentinel/Akuma/Doom)
I’m going to try to slowly start shifting over to playing Magneto more (I’m a Chun fan… play her in every game but this one is just too rough for her). Also was thinking of maybe trying Trish/Storm/xxx but I’m not sure that Trish can really rushdown the way I want her to. I might look into it more though. I also tried going X-23/Storm/Ammy which is fun but… my neutral game is really bad. I need strong neutral assists to help me with that and Ammy just doesn’t cut it for Storm. I also tried Wolverine/Storm/Akuma but Wolverine’s mobility is a major issue for me. No air movement… can’t really rapid wavedash with him because it’ll call out his super… I also wanted to try Viper with Storm together but I really feel like having Strider is basically necessary for how I want to play Viper… and Storm’s OTG just doesn’t come out quick enough to capitalize off of it. I was thinking of trying Ammy/Storm/Akuma too but I don’t think Ammy is for me because I can’t handle all the stance changes xD So I’m forever searching for a good team xD I just want someone who can handle the ridiculously stupid normals of Vergil, Dante, Nova, and Hulk. That would be a dream.
Hi everybody! I wanted to break out of my go-to team (Haggar/Deadpool/Arthur), and what I’ve come up with is She-Hulk (torpedo), Storm (whirlwind), Iron Man (unibeam).
My thought process behind this team is that She-Hulk on point is great due to her strong combos and self resets. Storm is functioning as a meter user and strong DHC option (very basic She-Hulk combo ending with Emerald Cannon DHCed to Hail Storm does 830K damage; just under 1 mil with I then go into Angled Proton Cannon). When Storm is on point, I figure she can create hard-to-blockables with She-Hulk’s torpedo. Iron Man is essentially there as back up due to the versatility of his unibeam assist. And, if it comes to it, I figure there are worse characters to spend X-Factor on.
How do you seasoned Storm players feel about this team make-up? Any advice would be helpful. Thank you!
pretty much what xero said its good for zoning and ambiguous cross ups with teleporters. i also use it for relaunches sometimes depending on the distance of where i am when it hits i can normal dash, wavedash, or teleport in for a relaunch. if you see the way people use zero/vergil rapid slash when he brings them across the screen and zero command dashes and follows up, its similar to that.
EDIT: and also if you wanna play zero there are some pretty sick high/low + left/right mixups at the same time using whirlwind and light command dash in the air. even i never know what side im gonna be on. i think zero/storm/dante have incredible synergy when it comes to both assists and DHC’S and playstyle as in keepaway/rushdown. the only team i can say is somewhat on par with that team (when it comes to storm synergy) is maybe MSS. storm doesnt really fit in justins team if you ask me, hes just an incredible player so he makes anything work, or maybe im missing something.
I am gonna try Storm/Strange/Morrigan because Strange’s bolts of baltaak assist is really good.
Is this team any good?
Strom(whirlwind)/Nemesis(slam)/Taskmaster(arrows straight)
That’s a good team but I reall think Storm and Morrigan are inseparable
So who should I swap morrigan with then?
Depends as to which character you cant’ use or play well. Nemesis or Taskmaster?
Nemesis. Taskmaster is best Character and what assist should I use for morrigan
I’m testing out Felicia, Storm, Strider right now. If Felicia dies Storm doesn’t have too much help with just Vajra does she? Felicia would be good on anchor for Storm I think because I could call Rolling Buckler and come in flying overhead and maybe crossup somewhere? I don’t ever plan on using the cat on anchor though and since Storm likes Meter and I’d like to keep 3 bars for Strider I don’t know how it’ll work out.
Does she need any support? She looks like she can handle herself without assists pretty fine.
I’m also looking at Nova-Felicia-Storm and Felicia-Task-Storm but don’t know her capabilities as an anchor, I know she’s made of glass though.
Storm makes a better anchor for that team in my opinion but at the same time everyone on there likes meter too much. Felicia probably is the only one who really can get by without it but Strider and Storm need the meter to beef their damage.
Yeah, it wasn’t working online. I’m looking at ???-Storm-Nova. Nova doesn’t really need meter too much, I might put Mags on point. I could also reverse that and run Nova, Storm, Mags I guess. I’m worried about dropping combos online with Mags but I’ll try it out.
Practice makes perfect
well then, take out Nemesis. : )
