Understanding Blanka's Ultra

It’s impossible as a cross-up. If you start holding back when you jump, then as soon as you switch sides, you’ll have lost your charge, and there won’t be enough time to get it back. Like you say, you can do it as long as you remain on the same side.

no , you can do it, the guy is going to post a vid, along with 2 other impossible combos

Edit…

my fuckin bad,
i’ve been working as hell with no time for SF4

counterhit cr.lk >cr.mk > ultra, is the only way to link it, i misunderstood something and give to you a false combo…
crossup doesn’t work to link a ultra. (again, my bad)

but i played yesterday… and beleive me…
Focus -> Ultra is posible.

OK, this is where I’m confused. I’m sure I’ve seen Gilly do level 3 focus attack, dash cancel, Ultra with Vega in the vids that proved charge partitioning wasn’t in this game.

So it would make sense that you can do it with Blanka… but you’re saying youc an do it with level 2?

lvl 3…

Oh, OK… well I think Mullah already confirmed that we know it can be done off a level 3, but connecting a Lvl3 FA in a match isn’t going to happen.

:nono: just to be clear everything you said was wrong, and the method you claim to use to do FA > ultra does not work (quoted above). so if you can now do level 3 FA > ultra you are doing it using the method everyone has been using since electric balls posted the vid in here, and many others probably used before him.

Next time someone calls your bullshit as BULLSHIT you might be better off checking your facts before calling people noobs and telling them to STFU. i didn’t expect an apology:wink:

TEO, blankas ultra doesn’t scoop them of the floor like other charge characters ultras do when you do a level 2 FA, this must be something to do with the hit properties of the low first hit, or whatever you want to call it . you have to use a lvel 3 to do it as the level 3 allows you to buffer a dash way before the fa strike, giving you enough charge time to do the ultra.

as i said, its my bad… so SORRY and Apologies

Ok so lets say I connect my lvl 3 focus attack and I have a 2 second back charge ready. Now what?

:r::r: :l: :r: :p::p::p: ?

It is possible to do lv 2 focus into ultra

Here is the proof:

in this vid I fuk it up the first time

Now more importantly, is it worth it?
no, yes, no, question is, are you good at it?
I’ve known about it forever, but have only practiced it lightly, and Im at about 5 out of 10 tries, which I don’t consider good enough for tournament play.
If practiced, maybe could get higher, but here is the problem:

Fucking charging sometimes seems random as hell
what do I mean? Its kinda like a 1 frame link. Sure, you know its possible, but the timing is exceedingly tight, and hard to get 100%, even if you know the timing like your life depended on it.

So, you be the judge as to whether or not its worth it, but its entirely possible.

also

From what I can tell, its impossible to do it from a level 1 counter hit crumple into ultra. If anyone can, props to them, but I just tried 20 times and no go, and that suks fer me.

ok I lied
21st time, I could do a level 1 counter hit crumple focus into ultra, and no, I’m too lazy to get video footage, maybe one day. I did it for level 2, so fuk it.

Its hard though.

cool, thats new to me, but yeah like you say it seems hard to do consistantly i think linking with the mk after the crumple is the easiest way.

hmmmmm, I’m not so sure about trying to link after the MK.
We’re talking about a 1 frame link here, and an additional input as well. I generally think simpler is better, so the less inputs the better. However, the mk link does guarantee time for the charge.

My guess is people will find what they are comfortable with, and more often than not say fuk it and just do low forward ball.

All this talk, and its just that, oh well.

Damn too soon

What’s the criteria for Ultra to land immediately after a Level 2 focus without dashing in? Is it strictly a timing thing or does the placement of your opponent after you absorb a deep hit matter?

Ok after watching I’m guessing it was because it was a counter hit that I had time to Ultra immediately after Level 2 FA right?

Can anyone explain why I’m seeing all this “Ultra the opponent on their wake up”. I don’t really get why/how this ever works. Once you understand it, it’s a pretty black and white ultra to block so…why not just do that - punish.

-im an idiot-

Works without counter hit. I used to do it this way before mullah told me about the dash c.mk link(which is, as far as I’m concerned, equally difficult if not more but at least you can make sure to have enough charge time)
