One of my teachers back in high school used to have a whole discussion about incest and the various royalty. He mentioned how at one point royals could only marry other royals, and that after a few YEARS, let alone generations, they had to remarry their bloodline. And then it got worse. That’s how almost all brother-sister marriages go. The most prevalent cause is divorce in which each parent keeps a child, and they move on with their lives with their kids meeting later and not realizing thy’re related, but still feeling a pull due to a sibling bond they don’t remember. The OTHER (and so rare it’s laughable) cause is people related via a common sperm donor meeting and hooking up.

Also, even when is technically incest, genetically speaking there is no problem endogamy if you have a children with a cousin that is the son/daughter of the opposite sex sibling of your parent, for example the daughter of the sister of your father, or the daughter of the brother of your mother
