Under Night In-Birth: From the makers of Melty Blood

the guy with the scythe and the weird creature looks interesting, i want to see how will they play
and Waldstein looks promising, for the little that was shown on the pv, he seems to have grat range with his normals, and a grab/throw

Carmine looks like freeman with all the slashing

I like the animations quite a bit they look very smooth and fluid though waldstein’s animations look a bit awkward to me but I like the design. I don’t think the gameplay can be compared to melty blood too much I think the game has enough differences to it that should seperate it from MB. Granted, not much game play footage was shown but the jumps look less “floaty” then MB and it looks more like a ground based fighter.

Linne’s design has a kind of simplistic charm, but I think we’re kind of underestimating how much personality good animation can lend a character. I’m kind of excited, that last trailer shows some concept art of other characters btw.

Wow! Looks really good. Aesthetically reminds me of Garou and Last Blade 2 but in a higher definition. Hope it plays well too.

I feel like I did when BlazBlue first revealed its initial 4 characters. I’m interested, but I need to see more

Very nice looking! Hooray for Unreal Black Things!

Also, the Professor over at mmcafe provides this one last detail that seems to have escaped every other outlet:

How interesting that the game came into being this way (much like MB before it). Of course, between that and the note the game is going to continue MB’s trend of having “light visual mystery novel” aspects for its storyline, I guess that much should be expected.

Truly a pity that we have to wait til practically the end of the year for the game to go gold.

I’m hype for Unreal Black Stuff…er…Things!

We’ll see how the “Blazblue Killer” fares.

I thought that was a reverse beat at 0:43 for a second.

Whoa, getting the same feeling I got when I saw Blazblue’s designs from watching that vid. Not a good thing.

Wait, Ash is actually a girl?

I’ll definitely keep my eye on this. Linnie interests me, with that knife and all… her movement is reminiscent of Ryougi.

A friend of mine uploaded a 720p HD trailer-

this. the trolling just makes it worse. just stop talking hecatom.

I’m not sure how to feel about this game; it looks like an animu Garou and even though the characters are vaguely cliche (quiet, serious, beltanzipper samurai, Nevada-tan and long haired demonic bishounen) the look and movement of the game is pretty striking. Cautiously optimistic.

I can’t figure out whether to love or hate you. Guess I’ll have to settle with both.

I said you should look at the pic, at the rest of the characters.

That is so goddamn true. What’s with main characters and sucking?
Ragna for example is the king of boring main characters.
I like all the characters so far in this game, except the main character for just this reason.

+1 to that.

Post-op Ash?

I am getting a sort of vague SNK vibe from the characters and concept art. Like SNK meets Melty Blood.
I remember quite a while back, FB made some public announcment that they were looking for sprite artists (for this project I assume), maybe a bunch of SNKers jumped ship…?

I just did and still don’t see whats so guilty gear like about the characters. They look more inspired by SNK style. But art is very subjective so yeah lol.

Forget it; I’m 99% sure the artist/style was done by Kazuo Ebisawa (Disgaea/La Pucelle/Mukai Kingdom/Phantom Brave stuff).

the game gameplay has a very darkstalkerish feel to it for me.

You seem to miss the point. The role of the main character/poster boy in 2D fighting games is to give newbie/casual/pussy (aka most) players a soft landing spot into the game’s world. (Remember in the arcade it’s more extreme as you spend 100 yen to get your ass kicked in 30 secs)
Put a random joe in front of a new capcom game and tell him to play, he won’t start by venturing into new fresh territories- He would recognize Ryu and then pick him. That’s why Ryu is in every game.
That’s not saying that Ryu is by any chance bad or boring, as I’m a Ryu player myself, but when I choose to play Ryu now it’s on a different level- Of someone who knows the game, knows the characters, and Ryu specifically fits his style.

So yeah you can expect the 2 main characters to be somewhat shoto-ish.
