while I usually don’t trust reviewer on fg, this one seem to at least have “some” idea what Under night i birth is and whats its doing. I didn’t like how it made the mistake mechanics description or absent of few mechanics but for the sake of keeping it short, it can’t be helped.
Wow! Releasing this for $24 on opening day (if you have PS Plus) is a great way to make sure there’s an instant online community to enjoy this game together. Maybe more games should consider this approach - sell at 50% off the Digital version for the 1st week upon release to really get some momentum going. Either way, pick this game up on the cheap while you can!
Most probably the US Publishing company tried to confirm with the Japanese devs what they “tried to say” when typing that English text. So I figure they asked for the Japanese devs to put what they meant in the original Japanese sentence and the US translators retranslated it for better accuracy.
It’s all speculation on my part. Another way is that the US translators just guessed what the Japanese meant to say, or they spun the sentence better with some creative licensing for better US marketing. More speculation
Give it to me straight. How hard is it to pick up this game? I am in the market for something to play on the side. I don’t mind playing a couple hundred matches to develop actual game skills, but my limited training mode time goes to my main titles (and Hearthstone, because it is addictive).
I’m not the expert on the subject, but it does seem like one of the easiest games to pick up, especially if you’ve played SF much before. The base execution requirements are pretty easy, the combos aren’t hard and very freeform, the basic SF fundamentals, footsies, poking, throws, etc. are quite similar.
The going to vary who you main. Some character will be easy to start playing while other will be harder. If have some experience with Melty than adjusting to the mechanics wont take to much, otherwise UNIEl is whole another beast where pacing is crucial and mistake are unforgiving.
Play Uniel if want an anime game that more ground base but pacing still just as fast. Have no problem memorizing alot of stuff with bit of micro managing.
Got it the other day and I really love it. I didnt like it when it first came out on jpsn and people were streaming it, but I took a chance and I really really like it.
I was going to wait for a pc release but I have a feeling ASW would’ve said something by now if they were going to put it on Steam so I bought it Friday night. Checked out the whole cast in training mode and I want to main half the roster. They’re all really cool characters but I’m gonna start with Merk.
I imported like a scrub and was really digging Orie, but I hate how her command normals overlap really good neutral ones; trying to get into position to land a CH or anti-air and go back to neutral before pressing the button to avoid the command normal was making me sadface. D:
I’m finding this game is making me use more crisp, precise motions. I definitely do dislike how after hitting forward you need to wait 3 frames to do a QCF or else you get a DP, but by slowing down and taking my time I’m able to do some very fun combos and blockstrings.
You have to get used to keeping the stick at neutral more than normal; I’d imagine a seimitsu or other stick stiffer than a sanwa would make that easier. A hitbox sounds perfect for this game.
I finally got around to playing this a few times both offline with friends and a little online. Definitely a lot of fun so far. Been maining Nanase mostly because I’m enjoying her overheads. I’d like to have played each character once at least in Arcade or Training to get the hang of what each can do (only played with half so far), especially Gordeau since all the players using him online totally wrecked me, and he seems like a lot of fun as well.
