Why has no one stopped to consider the possibility of the two new characters being played like the tag maids from MB?
Well perhaps, but is it an issue at this point continue to say theres 3 new characters instead of 2?
Not at all, since they are both still new. But I wouldn’t be surprised, especially with French Bread’s history, that together they make one playable character, at least going by what the article said. But hell, I’ve been wrong before, just gotta wait and see.
While more characters are never a bad thing, the new designs are a little dry. Hopefully the in game is more interesting.
Even though I feel like Nana is slightly interesting with an oversized sword, being that the schoolgirl with a katana thing has been long overdone.
im definitely a little confused about the overall disparity of craziness
you’ve got seth’s movement, carmine’s blood, merkava’s noodles and animations, hilda’s graphics (they are so cool), and even gordo’s scythe stuff isn’t something commonly seen, and waldstein’s so big he is kind of funny
then you’ve got linne, hyde, akatsuki, and eltnum. . .
Linne definitely looks like she was inspired by Ryougi Shiki (gameplay-wise), but in terms of visuals, I guess that Frenchbread actually wanted some “normal” characters.
Hyde’s fighting style & sword actually reminds me of Kurosaki Ichigo’s bankai form. With the long and dark katana, wide yet fast slashes, the projectiles, etc.
Akatsuki is actually from Akatsuki Blitzkampf, a very obscure game I personally was never a fan of (no offense to the enthusiasts), and I think he doesn’t fit in this game at all. And I would’ve preferred to see them use their resources for some more original characters than a non-fitting guest.
As for Eltnum, she is actually Scion Eltnam Atlasia. I believe she is the main original character of Melty Blood. She might not seem crazy but her fighting style definitely is interesting and a nice addition, IMO. Don’t know what’s up with the name change, honestly.
Hilda’s animations are so fuckin crispy. I’m maining her even if shes crap. I dont know anything about this game.
I think it’s because of the fact that Sion is now property of Type-Moon even though she was an original character created by French-Bread. She was added in as a guest character as well as being something of a comedic joke character in which she spills some beans about the whole UNIB being a test run for the Melty Blood (or as she refers it “MelBlo”) remake. She also continues to refer everyone else as “rookies”. At least, that’s what I can take from her story mode in the arcade.
I don’t remember on what interview was, but they said that Eltnum was included since she was almost finished from the beginning, UNIB started as a test for MBHD and she was the character used on said test.
Since MBHD was on hold due the incoming reboot or something like that, they decided to use their work on a new game.
As for Akatsuki, i think that is something about a nod and helping make more awareness about the series (perhaps they are working on an HD entry, who knows).
The thing is that they barely used their resources on including him besides the programming, all the sprites work, sound, fx, etc was done by Subtle Style, the people that made AB.
I think it was posted on this thread the blog entry? where they talk about the process of including him and why.
Hilda looks so fun to use. I thought she was a glass cannon type character, but it seems she has above average health according to its wikia.
My first introduction to UNiB was a Merkava vs Waldstein game and it sold me on the idea of a modern monstrous fighting game. I was really hyped up… then I saw the rest of the cast and went “meh.” I’m still excited, as King of Melty seems like an enjoyable system and being able to play as the Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Monster looks like a ton of fun, but I’d always like more unique designs rather than “teenager 1 with weapon” and “teenager 2.”
Agree with that. Truth is there’s nothing but teenagers in fighting games nowadays. Still, this game’s cast is pretty obscure, though, which is why I’m so interested.
Massive preview article on the game, complete with highres screenshots. 2 new stages revealed.
Do you know what loli means? If so you’d know that they aren’t any in UNIB, Soul Calibur, or majority of other fighting games. Loli’s in FGs aren’t really common.
Being someone who has not even played this game yet, but has been excited for the potential of an international release (or at least an import), I can’t speak too much about the overall character designs. But from what I’ve seen, Vatista is the only loli-esc character in the game, the majority being anime teenagers. Does a single loli really earn a game the title “loli-fighter” or “loli-a-thon?” For that matter doesn’t soul caliber only have that one girl who might even qualify as such (the one that Raphael adopts)?
Either way, pretty excited to see that this will be a region-free release. I’ve wanted to try this game for a long time. I’ve always wondered if games like this and Melty Blood have trouble getting international releases due to an expectation that everything down to the voice acting should be translated. I’d be happy with just getting menus and text translated but it seems most games go the extra distance to get international VAs (at least to English) as well.
It kinda sucks how I got a PS Vita and PS4 and all the anime fighters come out for PS3 .
This game, Chaos Code, Aquapazza, Jojo Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle
Wrong thread lol
Ai love this game! ( ‘w’)
Y’all niggas dumb as shit
Their was a huge ass tournament last you could be talking about and breaking down
Currently working on getting the CEO of Nyu-Media, a Hotapen development team rep, & someone from French-Bread as guests for Anime Weekend Atlanta (I work for the video games department at the con). I’ll let you all know how that goes. Still too hyped for this and July can’t come fast enough.
