Finally updated my PS2 supergun with the usb decoders as well as a new power supply that fits inside the case. So far works great and will be putting it through its paces this Sat at a local tourny. Pretty cool that the supergun now can except either ps2 controllers and usb controllers. Can even control one player with a ps2 and usb controller at the same time.
Yo. Gummo. I messaged you about me screwing up my mctchulu be trying to add db 15 wiring to it. Can I get a response?
A microprocessor.

I was thinking of a bunch of CD4066 combined with two 8bit 595 serializer.
Sure, thatās one way to do it. There are about 8 zillion ways to go about it. You ultimately have to think about what is the cheapest way to create a fully functional product. The processor Iām using has enough discrete I/O to where I do not require a serial to parallel scheme. If I had a smaller processor with few I/O pins, I would probably use something like you suggested. Another cost consideration is how many total solder points are on the board. Each of those 595 latches has 16 pins. Most assembly houses charge at least $0.05 per solder point. Thatās at least $0.80 to solder each 595!

This is why Iām waiting for you to release your product
Canāt wait to get one !
Good news, got a bunch of new boards built up. Bad news, not enough to cover everyone that has expressed interest thus far. I do want to do one more board rev. (I know, some of you are freaking out) for a few reasons (some cost, some feature), but I want everyoneās opinion on something:
How useful would you guys find it if I added a few more terminal strip points for the extra 2 action buttons (most PS3/360 sticks have 8 buttons rather than 6) and the Home/PS button. I realize these are not necessary for supergun applications, but for pad-hacks and other non-game projects, it seems silly to not have terminals available for those.
Note: Today you can make use of those extra 2 buttons or Home/PS via button mapping mode, itās just that you are limited to a total of 6 action buttons.
Thanks!

Itād be nice, perhaps to wire up a 3p and 3k for pad users.
Itās fine with me, Iāve already been waiting patiently, and I donāt mind waiting a bit longer. More applications of your product would be great and it shouldnāt add too much to the size.
Iām wondering though if itās small enough to fit in the USB areas of a playstation 2, or Iāll have to use an extension of some sort.
Its ROUGHLY a 2 inch by 2 inch square.
Definitely adds to the utility. More = Better right?
Iām still down for as many of the 6 buttons as you will sell me at a good deal I have a number of people waiting to order their SuperGuns so they can get USB versions!
Agreed 8 buttons would be better. Definitely worth the wait as with all your projects!!
Similarly there are some games which require L2 and R2 to navigate through. Mostly menuās but that was something that I discovered when using my arcade cab to play SF4 early on. So Iād need to use another pad or bought stick with 8 buttons in order to go through all those menuās and options.
Iād vote yes on the 7th and 8th main buttons, as well as a āHomeā button.
While it wouldnāt really change anything in a good majority of installations, itād be nice for other uses.
It definitely wonāt change anything (or be advantageous in any way) for my Supergun installations, but I do plan to pair one up with a PS360+ so that I can use my Hori Fighting Commander 3 Pro/not-Pro on an Xbox360 or PS2.
L1/L2 and home will make building usb to anything converters will so much better. You have no idea how annoying it is dual modding dualshock 3 pads.
The more buttons the better i say.
Iāll only be using this for supergun setups so I donāt really care about the extra buttons. Totally down for some 6 button versions. please please please set 2 aside for me (shut up and take my money!!!)
edit: I may be down for more of these in the future, but for now I need 2 ASAP for supergun tournaments! also just realised Iāll be able to use these to convert my USB sticks to Amiga/mega drive!!!
Would be better for me with 8 buttons that use the shortcuts 3 punch 3 more kicks no problem if not.'s Important is to be ready for sales as soon as I need to run 2 ST in TRETA championship ā¦
It doesnāt work like that. The 3 punch / 3 kick shortcuts are a function of the game (SFIV, or whatever), not the controller itself. The controller sends one signal for each button and the game program does whatever it does. Yes, I could program that functionality into my converter, but it would only benefit SF players. There are a lot of other games that these will be used with and Iām not going to make special exceptions for every game people want to use them with.
tl;dr - practice pressing 3 buttons at once

You are right friend these shortcuts are a function of the game and not the controller
