I think @FreedomGundam nailed it in his last post. As much as the Neo pinout is all over the place, it has become standard in this hobby. MAS superguns are definitely in the minority, whether they are the better design or not.
Each of the board designs I’m making are not just for a few units going to a handful of people who requested them. I don’t want to waste energy managing an extra design. You should have no problem wiring up some of the terminal strip versions into your own DB25 adapters.

Agreed. While the AES wasn’t a very popular system ($700 in the 90s?!!) a lot of the controllers for the NEO systems have faired well. They did it right too… all of their consoles (and MVS boards with controller ports) used the exact same pinout. This allowed a lot of flexibility in use and interchangeability as the NeoCD came out.
As a SuperGun builder I need a controller that I can pull off the shelf and use to test my builds, before the Panzer came out my option was the NEO controllers because of how easy they were to use. As the community grew, learned, and got smarter on the guts of the arcade cabinet and how it translated to a SuperGun it just made sense to use the NEO pinout.
As for managing versions, UD hit it right. The more versions = more development costs = more management costs = higher end price. I think the minority of users need the DB25 version and those that do can quite easily make a DB15 to DB25 converter for a couple of bucks or just use a terminal block one. I don’t think he’s forcing the issue and forcing folks to use the “DB15” standard, but he is catering to the majority and the future. It makes sense.
I ran an event yesterday and when we turned up we didn’t have space for my big 2 player stick/supergun! We were limited to a single setup running on a UD-CPS2. I need these adapters in my life!!
I’m running another, bigger tournament on March 2nd. I assume that’s still too soon to have a couple of these?
Under features it says custom button mapping, does that mean i can play a six button game like ST then switch to kof and reconfigure my buttons to a rainbow layout?
Was looking to invest in a mvs board and a supergun. Didn’t know i was gonna have to have a stick wired just for that board. This thing is exacly what I was looking for. Can we just skip to the future already?
Polishing up the next revision of screw terminal board. Rearranged things so there is room for signal labels with the screw terminals installed + some other niceties.
