i have a question is it truly unblockable if u can block a front attack the correct way and then block a cross up the correct way and u block it during the setup but if u block these attacks the in correct way u get hit ? need feedback on this.
I’m assuming you are talking about USFIV, where there are no true unblockables, because if you block on the frame the attack hits you can block them, but if you hold a direction your hitbox shifts so that the attack hits the opposite way. If you aren’t talking about USFIV then I can’t help.
There are no practical unblockables outside of setups because of the strict spacing and timing required for it to properly connect. On wakeup, if you want to block an “unblockable” don’t hold a direction, but tap the direction on the frame that the move hits. This is super difficult, therefore these setups are deemed unblockable. The move itself is not unblockable, but the setup is. The only unblockable move in the game is lvl 3 focus, and throw.
This is actually BS for all midscreen unblockables
A lot of them can be blocked with a timing bigger than 1 frame if you neutral crouch before you block. If you crouch, most unblockables will either whiff or ALWAYS hit on the other side of the body/crossup.
You just have to wait until the opponent changed sides and then stand block crossup. Most people don’t know it though…
I don’t think you understand what’s being talked about here. They aren’t talking about how to block cross ups. There are so-called unblock able setups in SF4 that are frame-perfect wake up setups. I doubt you’ve encountered them at your level of play (based on your sparring partner thread).
Honestly, I have no idea what you are asking in the OP but I’ll do my best to explain the sf4 unblockables.
The unblockables you are discussing are due to the shifting of the character when you either press forward or backward to block the move. (I believe it is some sort of bug?)
It may not seem like much but it’s enough to shift move from a cross up to a front facing attack and vice verse.
If you block on the same frame the move hits, in the proper direction you will block it.
Much like the unblockables in third strike there is a way out, it’s just difficult to read the set up every time.
There are many ways to escape these though, focus attack, back dash if you know which direction the attack will land, reversal will escape some of them, etc.
basically i was asking if u hold a direction and the correct direction for each attack wether it be a attack in front or as a cross up before u wake up u can block it i tested it and it works 90 percent of the time.
but if u try to block at the exact frame u going to get hit if u hold it or tap block in the wrong direction or mis time the the block u will get hit.
I think you don’t really understand how this game and unblockables work in general but yeah for scientific reasons: name a single unblockable and I will show you a reliable way to block it.
All of them DON’T hit on the first active frame, and if you crouch (neutral that is) there is NO hitbox to be hit so it won’t shift left or right being an actual unblockable. Some unblockables will whiff when you crouch, others will cause you to only hit on the other side of your opponents body and of course if you crouch forever you will get hit by some moves with a wider jumping hitbox.
Crouch, wait for your opponent to switch sides, block. That counts for all unblockables because there isn’t a single one I know of that doesn’t hit crossup on crouchers.

And your lack of knowledge aside: you missed my Cammy matchup thread
i want to see all of them and i want to see u hold a direction and the correct direction for each attack weither it be back for a front attack or foward for a cross up before u wakeup and hold that direction till the setup is finished i bet u will block it everytime
are u blocking at the exact frame the move hits and in the correct direction for each attack back for front and foward for crossup i can’t tell with this video
I am not, there is at least a 2-3 frame window to block these from crouching and no they are not hitting at the exact frame where they should hit because i am crouching, and due to me crouching there is no standing hitbox to hit.
ok this make no sense imo u are blocking a unblockable then in correctly u suppose to tap block a unblockable at the exact frame when u about to get hit and also in the correct direction for each attack wiether it be in front or as a cross up and not hold it for more then one frame when u wake up.
like i said there is no way to tell being that the arrows are all over the place in the inputs in training mode but from watching u the inputs pop up before u wake up.
