UMvC3 version 2013: The feedback thread

HvH offline versus mode, I am surprised they didn’t do this before…

I think there should just be a feedback thread for each character on each board. Makes it easier for capcom and people who actually play the characters will notice.

If I see another post about “fixing” Iron Man’s air dashes I’m going to have a hemorrhage.

Iron Man’s air mobility is FINE and an asset to the type of character he is. Iron Man does need a mobility change though. He needs to be able to cancel his ground dash before frame 11, its a completely asinine restriction holding him back more than anything else is. Let him cancel his ground dash on frame 5 or 6 at least.

Also make Proton Cannon safe on hit please, make the last hit cause a soft knockdown or something. Maybe give him a new “War Destroyer” style hyper. I would also like to see a new version of Smart Bombs, maybe air DP + S, that can be manually guided or has semi tracking toward the opponent. Maybe doing Air Smart Bombs and hitting ATK + S causes them to home in on the opponent (semi-homing lets not go bananas here) at the cost of more recovery frames.

If Akuma got a Misogi/KKZ Lv. 3 that OTG’d and let him combo off of it I’d be cool with that.

Raging Demon isn’t that good of a Lv. 3, anyway.

Raging Demon needs to do more damage given how hard it is to land it. 550K base?

How big are the changes we can reasonably expect? Changing things like health, invincibility, armor, damage, etc. I can see. I don’t think we’re getting new moves or radically different mechanics, though.

Kongou Kokuretsu Zan, Akuma’s other “RAAARRRGH I’MMA PUNCH THE GROUND” super, just less cinematic than Misogi.

Yes he can.

That’s still just characters like Vergil, Viper and possibly Doom and Zero.

And in any case, this is Marvel, so I see nothing wrong with trying to make characters really, really good (similar to the 4 gods in 2).

Anybody mentioned that assists need to be reworked for a large portion of the cast?

Every character should be like Doom and Dante, where there’s never a ‘wrong’ assist. This problem becomes very apparent when you do random vs random sets. Nothing worse than getting Ammy and instead of Cold Star, you get Solar Flare. If you think that characters having useless assists as long as they have at least one good one is not a problem, then you don’t get it - it hurts your ability to have team synergy when a character can only be used for one role on the side-lines.

Just a thought. Part of the reason I think so many characters are so underused is because their assists are so limited.

People seem to like to blame doom for being on every team because of his support, but that’s mostly just because most characters in this game have really bad support. Dante is really the only other versatile support character, but everyone is bad at him so. . . .

Making every character have multiple, different-purpose assists sounds like a great idea to me. The thing is, they could’ve easily added value to certain characters’ assists by thinking out of the box just a little bit.

As the person before me mentioned, Ammy is a great example where Solar Flare is all but useless. They couldve for instance given her beads H as assists for a fullscreen poke/KD/lockdown (if more than 1 hit). Or her j.H in Glaive, charge time and all. There was a lot of room for added assist variety but they chose the basic “Chars on average have 3 signature specials so that’s what their assists will be”, even if the special in assist context proved to be completely useless.

Also, on missiles, one small (tiny) step to making the assist not stupidly broken would be to remove its hitboxes on the way up. This relegates its lockdown function to the x amount of frames the missiles need to come back down and would make it at least possible for melee characters to punish the assist accordingly and go for snap or whatever. Though the move in and of itself is still retarded as is everything that tracks. Tracking > spacing.

Lastly, if there really is going to be another version (I’m not holding my breath), for the love of god finetune each and every hitbox in the game. I swear to god if I get AA magic serie’d by Vergil switching sides 3 times in a row one more time I will murder someone. Segway into auto-correcting magic series being stupid as well.

Eventhubs updated their article, looks like they misinterpreted the message. I doubt v. 2013 will come, but it’s a nice thought, I’d certainly welcome it.

Ammy assists should be:
A: H coldstar(current assist)
B: L Coldstar(the standing horizontal pattern)
Y: Bloom(reduced recovery to be par with morrigan’s)

Coldstar L isn’t used because it would be ridiculously good.

How about only 3 shots?
