I doubt it, other than maybe linking another max voltage I don’t really see trish getting much off it. One would have to assume HSD would be far too high at that point to relaunch or anything.
On a separate note, which team do you guys think is better? Trish/doom/ammy or Trish/viper/ammy? Im torn between both teams, on one hand I gain access to a really good selection of neutral game assists, a good point character and the deadly doom/ammy thc nonsense. On the other hand viper gives me access to one of the best point characters in the game, an otg assist(if a mediocre one) and an unblockable set-up.
Im really torn between both team atm. I’ve dumped my trish/sent/akuma team(for now anyway) and I think either of these teams is the team for me.
Well if you can link a Stand M, in theory, you could link a Snapback off of that. Could be a good way to get good damage before bringing Jean in or something.
I think right now Trish teams that have an otg assist in the back are pretty bad unless it’s missiles. Usually if Trish can’t get started then the match is more or less over, especially now with people fighting anchor Wesker better. At evo, RDK struggled hard once Trish died.
I didn’t see any of his off stream matches(obviously) but Im gonna have to disagree with you in regards to this match. In the first match rdk lost his trish and his x-factor and proceeded to run it back with just wesker/doom, in fact he was one lvl 3 away from taking that match. And in the second match he did the same thing and was one dropped wesker combo away from presumably taking that as well. RDK’s team is solid, Im rarely a fan on anchor wesker and maybe down the line ray might decide to just run doom in the back, but the team itself is extremely solid. It covers pretty much all the bases and its only real weakness is that doom isn’t the strongest of anchors(which is why he starts wesker in the back and finds a way to get him in if doom doesn’t get demolished on the way in).
I definitely don’t think it gets much more solid than ray’s trish team, I’ve been wracking my mind tryna figure out a different team to optimize trish and Im yet to come up with anything. Im seriously considering just jumping on the bandwagon and picking up wesker(I already play doom).
Admittedly I was off about that match. He didn’t struggle but he also managed to get Wesker in the second spot every time Trish died so Wesker wouldn’t be stuck without an assist. That was good and if people can manage to do that then the situation is definitely better. I have seen situation like I said though in other matches. My main point is if your second character is stuck without an assist, the odds are heavily stacked against you. I think RDK’s team is great also but only if Doom is in the back.
How good is Trish at playing mostly keepaway? I like the idea of controlling the field with her traps but I’m getting the feeling they’re not very tough durability wise, and it seems like her low voltage gets beaten by most other projectiles too. I hope I’m wrong about that, because I really want to make Trish work on a keepaway team I’m trying out. Right now I have her with peekaboo assist + Skrull (Orbital Grudge) + Taskmaster (horiz.).
I invented/showed that team to rdk, and it was originally doom in the back, but there’s too much synergy with doom second to ever put him in the back now. Kill combos with doom dhc on over half the cast, a guaranteed unblockable if doom is in with two bars, and honestly doom second with the option to bring in wesker and having that insurance policy of wesker in the back edge it out. I’ve had this team since day 5 vanilla, and have tried every configuration you can imagine, and as of now trish/doom/wesker is the superior config.
RDK’s team is solid all around but it doesn’t optimize Trish IMO. It’s more of an optimal Wesker team. He gains the most from the two other characters. Wesker’s OTG assist is great for helping Trish convert off throws and for combo extension but it doesn’t do much for her neutral game.
I’m currently running Trish/Doom (missiles)/Ammy and I really feel that the two assists are great for her neutral game. Unfortunately, Ammy is so fragile that you have to be really careful about your assist calls. Trish/Doom/Dorm is also really good and I think I’m going to start using this in certain match ups. You get the benefit of Dorm anchor although his assist and THC aren’t as degenerate as Ammy’s.
Trish/Doom/Hawkeye and Trish/Doom/Task are also really solid teams and the advantage is that the assists are much more spammable than Ammy’s. However, the tradeoff is that you lose the degenerate lockdown.
I think all these teams are better for Trish than Trish/Doom/Wesker in that the assists really help Trish land that first hit. Unfortunately, once you land that hit, you don’t have access to an unblockable setup and you have to rely on TACs to get big damage. So its a tradeoff and you need to decide if you want to optimize Trish at the expense of a cheap unblockable setup or have a team with an unblockable setup without sacrificing support for Trish’s neutral game. I haven’t yet found a team that incorporates both. However, I guess that Trish/Doom/Wesker, Trish/Viper/Ammy come pretty close. I think Trish/xxx/Nova would also be a really solid team but I haven’t decided who to put in the middle slot yet.
You raise some good points, but the reason why I put trish/doom/wesker above all the other teams is because 1. Having wesker in the back allows trish to convert of her air throws(which imo is very important in this game), it also significantly increases her damage output due in no small part to the unblockable, like you said in the final line of your post, trish/doom/wesker and trish/viper/ammy are two of the few teams that incorporate both aspects of trish’s game, thus my claim that the former was a completely optimized team. I mean if you have to rely on TAC’s to max out your damage, personally I don’t think your team is as solid(unless you have phoenix in the back and you can’t spend meter).
Also, why trish/doom/dorm and not trish/dorm/doom. One would think dorm/doom is the better back up plan than doom/dorm if you get what I mean.
And I stepped my Trish up a lot lately. You guys need to get on that rush down it’s 2 good. And I’m starting to realize traps are really good for locking people down.
With Trish/Doom (beam) its not that easy to land that first hit against a good opponent. Wesker won’t help you at all with the approach. He’s only good when you’re already in their face. I used to play RDK’s team and it was a lot more effort to get that first hit with Trish than with my current team.
Trish/Doom TAC is too powerful. That’s why I have that order. You get easy million damage, meter neutral TACs.
I need to go back my Rushdown style…I used to play alot more aggressive than I do now…That being said. Traps are ridiculous for pressure =0
I might have time to finally make my Trap-confirm Video today or tomorrow. Its something I’ve been procrastinating on for awhile. I’m just sick of looking at these weak confirms <.<
I’ve been mostly working on my rushdown, especially with this team that I’m working on. Her keepaway is good for characters that really can’t do anything else, or are just plain better at it. I’m liking that aspect of my team - balance and the ability to switch roles. Which is why I look at trish, nova and other characters. I hate focusing on one aspect of the game only (such as Wolvie). I wish strange was a better character or was better on anchor. Trishs versatility is her biggest strength and all aspects of her need to e up to par to play her effectively. You gotta know your matchups - that’s what makes trish scary. Knowing that agains the same team that you can switch styles based on their point
I had that problem in the beginning but I honestly don’t remember how I fixed it. My only advice is to do J.S pretty much at the top of the jump and make sure you jump forward.
