I guess the problem is(especially with majors) that when you know certain players are on the way you don’t wanna outright DQ them since the FGC is still a very family oriented community in the sense that most of these players are the tourney organizers friends. Theres also the special treatment certain players get since most of the people who tune into the streams tune in because of said players. Call it a bitch move, but its the truth.

Part of it is a byproduct of them being open tournaments and assembling brackets on the spot, and part of it is a byproduct of using antiquated approaches to scheduling. Not to put anybody on blast (but I guess I kind of am), but after seeing what Keits did with UFGT, and then Evo did with the scheduled 16 man pools, there really is no excuse for anybody running a major with a less efficient system. It works, people have time to leave without missing their matches or holding up the tournament, they can sleep/eat/shower or whatever they want to do without producing schedule conflicts. And there’s almost no downside to it at all. People are just hard headed and stuck in their ways.

It’s weird to me because I come from ygo and we never did preregistration or anything, but still managed to have 1000+ people sign up in time, start the tourney at 12, have an hour long lunch break, and end by 1am.
Dark matter is pretty brain dead left of right, or used for fakes to charge a spell. The spell big boom (3 reds) can be used for punishes into a combo + it otgs, 2 red 1 blue (volcano) can be used for counter hit setups since it comes out no matter what, and interrupts a shit ton of stuff, (and cats called MvC3 flame carpet dumb/derp.) Jump cancels combo which hurt like hell, 2 blue 1 red (meteors also come out no matter what aswell) for air control and chip. The big deal is once you have the spells charged up you can mix up with teleports + air liberation which fills the screen with tons of shit, and if you have a Stalking flare chasing them as well on the screen the chip alone can kill + with Dormammu swinging them huge ass limbs on top of there dome shit is ridiculous.
I leaned how to rush down with The Dread One by watching CJ, he gets all my respect, but his rush down is pretty much naked without the use of all Dormammus tools which are all useful, That why Champs is the better Dormammu at this point imo.

Well, another factor I didn’t mention is the fac tthat there are several games going on at once, and they often are being run independently on their own schedules. It’s not uncommon to have somebody due to play in one game and not be able to find them because they’re in a different area or even different room playing a different game. Another reason people need to get their stuff together with the scheduling.
