Are people wanting fighting games to grow or not? If yes then commentary like Chen and Ultradavid is going to be more common. Drunk guys popping off on the mic is entertaining but not exactly professional.

I can barely bring myself to watch WNF or anything else West Coast because it’s BORING. I was watching one WC tournament not too long ago and JC and UD were like egging this guy on to pop-off and I’m like “lol?”. Nobody is gonna pop-off at a WC tourney. There’s no hype like EC.
Maybe they should get professionals who actually know the game then. EC might have drunk popoffs and D’Nyce busting a nut over Marlinpie swag combos, but these guys actually know their shit and aren’t repetitious.

EC commentary is still better, though.
The setup for the stream is really professional. Not as grass roots as i’m used to but there is something other streamers can learn from.

I agree. At the same time, commentators need to find a balance. Easy to say, of course. But if you look at the stream INH linked, it’s nice compared to most (granted you can’t get something nearly this nice most of the time). Though for some reason, I enjoy Euro commentary. They sometimes get a nice blend of excitement with smart commentary.

At the expense of identity and boring the hell out of the people who actually play these games by repeating common knowledge? Some locations and streams are trying too hard to be what they’re not. I expect that shit from a G4 or gamespot or any other mass media gaming site where majority of visitors are not players themselves.
The CC tourney set-up and quality + EC commentary and atmosphere would be pretty neat.
