Aside from the fabled Florida squad the people who place well at East Coast events were there, so unless EC saves their tech for nationals that they don’t even go to and choose to always hold back against RayRay, Flux, Unknown, etc, it seems unlikely that a change in patronage would have an egregious effect.
the quality of player doesnt matter. The quantity plays a bigger role in these big tournaments. For example, if there are 90% west coast and 10% east coast. Statistically there will be more west coast in top 8. The quality of player plays less of a role. Brackets, luck, whos playing well play a bigger role.
It’s still hilarious to me that people care what coast anyone is from. I feel like this should be required viewing in American schools:
The same applies to coasts, cities, sports teams, and all that other bullshit that you don’t directly contribute to yourself. Then again I tried to explain the same idea to someone at Evo last year (less eloquently than George here) and the dude thought I was straight-up retarded so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.
Also for what it’s worth WC definitely has more players going to Evo. EC’s biggest weekly gets like 30 players, WC’s gets 100. Moreover, there’s a lot of hidden killers (Zack and Cloud anyone?) who don’t even place well on WC but still did fine at Evo. You’re kidding yourself if you think there’s no one like that on EC who didn’t show up.
