Yeah, this venue is just awful.
Iâm aware of this, and I still think he was waaaaaay off. Pretty good normals(not just foot dive), full combos off all 4 throws, ridiculous damage, full corner carries on all combos, dash cancellable normals that let him put up sick pressure strings, sick incoming mix-ups, safe DHCâs, decent mobility⌠I could go on. Thing is, so few people are playing him with assists anymore you donât really get to see a lot of his shit. I mean sure heâs no zero on point, but he can hold his own. Plus itâs not like the commentator said he was an average character, dude straight up said doom sucks.

I dont think events can âkillâ other events per say.
Events build up hype for other events. EVO woudnât be as hype it it wasnât for the rivalries and match ups set by other events.
Same thing for events Post-EVO.
What bothers me is that a lot of top players like to bash on EVO specifically when the things they complain about could be applied to just about any major.
I recently saw Desmond Pinkney make a post about EVO on facebook calling it random, and that could be true to a certain extent, but why only EVO? easy brackets, and how youâre playing on a given day is something that can happen at any tournament.
Chris G said EVO was whatever when it ended, but then again, why only EVO?
People would say that winning EVO doesnât guarantee being the best in the world, but if climbing a 1300 player mountain doesnât mean anything, then what does that say about winning a 200+ man tournament at TFC??
I know that TFC wasnât marketed as an EVO rival or anything like that, I just took the opportunity to start the conversation cause I think its important, so please donât think Iâm talking about TFC.
I was an assistant TD at EVO this year, and I was surprised to see all the amount of work that is put into it. I really donât think that we as players give enough credit to the TOs, and that includes everyone. Jebailey, John Choi, Big E, Larry, LI Joe, Sweet Johny Cage, Kineda, Alex Valle, etc.
I really hope we get to a time when we understand that we need each other when it comes to events. We can learn from each other.
For example, EVO doesnât hold as many special exhibitions as they did in 2007, but thatâs because of its big size. Can you imagine what would happen if CEO had to accommodate 41 days worth of matches in one weekend? Jebailey probably wouldnât have that much time or space for exhibitions either.
Another example. With the next gen coming. We might very well see some tournament or tournaments who have to make a decision between consoles, and probably end up getting the inferior port for one game. With the rate that these tournaments are growing, I donât think thatâs too far off.
All in all. I think the FGC can grow a lot this upcoming years, but we need to have each others back.
TFC is a great example with this amazing group of TOs coming together.
I think the most appropriate thing to say would be this tweet from Alex Valle.
I canât think of a single EC tournament thatâs ever had good venue internet connectivity. There has to be a way to get this for bigger events. I get it for my smaller stuff just fine and I know things donât scale proportionally with things like tournaments, but there has to be a better way.
To be fair, his argument has always been that itâs âjust another tournament,â and itâs mostly been in response to people asking him if heâs going to win Evo, etc. Itâs one of the rare cases where he made his stands fairly clear.

Long ass hit stuns like hard knockdowns or crumple stuns are good for negating missiles. You can get hit and then when you fall out theyâre still stunned and continue the combo.

Chris G only let Dark Vergil release on the incoming one time. If you play Morrigan on point you can do something about Dark Vergil whether you snap or wait for him to come with XF3.
