That’s why you play 4HMaster online
Not the only one, but certainly one of very few people
Also, an OTT game of LOTR2 would be utterly hilarious
Dunno if there’s a map big enough for it, but between the hilarity of that game in general and the insults you could send, it’d be awesome!

time to see if this borderlands2 thing is any fun
someone besides ant on psn marvel right now?
Bout to get on
You still using Dazzle?
Anyone feel like some Marvel?
Yeah
Not when you mash them out in block/hit stun.
Nope. I don’t either. Nor do I think Thirteen does.
That’s the same as offline. Fail a combo and I will punish you appropriately.
Most of the time I’m only punishing recovery frames though, because trying to mash out stuff in hit/block stun is often dangerous and will lose you a character if you do it when it’s not safe. Thus I only do it when I think I’m safe, but even then I occasionally get hit.
True, but combos are more likely to drop online than off, so the advantage, and thus the utility, that it provides is greater in that regard.
Can’t they just do a ghetto reset if you try to grab them after they “fail” a combo? Something like barely staying out of the grab range and just hit you with a light attack, or attempt a fast jumping attack.
Yep, it’s the major vulnerability of people trying to mash a grab without thinking. Do anything that leaves them out of blockstun, and they’ll end up doing their H OS and getting hit into a combo. Pretty much a sort of anti-mashed grab frametrap.
Very few people I have played so far have thought of that, however…
True, you can do something like that if you’re intending it. But online sometimes causes unintentional things to happen simply due to lag and lag spikes.
I don’t fault Ant for things like that, though. That’s completely Marvel online. That’s how I keep from getting upset about it.
Is that so? You should find different reasons I’d do the same offline. If someone’s going to do the same blockstrings offline I will mash grab in them knowing I have no risk in doing so.
To add to Evul’s post, it’s actually very effective online to trap people like that if they’re mashing grab - by the time they know you’re doing it they’re dead
You have to take into account grab ranges, hit ranges, whether a move moves you forward or backward, the amount of hit stun, and what the opponent’s actual option select is. Doom’s b+H gets you missiles, but Taskmaster’s get you a 6 frame combo starter that out prioritizes a lot of stuff. Especially if your character’s normals are negative on hit (which a lot are.)
For example, you can do something like that with Dorm’s st.M because it moves you back, so it gives you a better chance of being outside of grab range, and because his Ls have great range, you can get a reset that way.
However, you can’t do that with Task’s st.H because he moves forward. That can put you back into grab range.
I’m still so sleepy. Maybe I should sleep for a week.
