I still think that Sonic Unleashed would have sold better had they ditched the werehog and replaced it with Knuckles. I’d pay good money for a game where I get to walk around as Knuckles and beat people up.
Also, I liked the Adventure Knuckles themes.

Been awhile since I’ve played it, but I’m assuming you are talking about Nack the Weasel/Fang the Sniper.
He was one of the OG characters that they forgot about who was a character I always liked. To me, he was like the Boba Fett or Vile of the Sonic Universe.
That always pissed me off. His name is Knuckles. Make his stages play like psuedo-Beat 'Em Ups if anything aside from traditional Sonic play. They could have just given him Sonic stages with small focus on combat, climbing and gliding… but nope. Go play metal detector.
And yeah, the voice Tails got in SA1 was fucking awful… but it’s not like the rest of the cast was immune.

Feces the brown hedgehog, can run fast like sonic and use chaos control like shadow has a connection to the chaos/master emerald and always fights with knuckles to get it bodies knuckles 10-0 every time but respects his dedication so never actually steals the master emerald can go super feces with the chaos emeralds and hyper super feces with the chaos and master emerald, black arms gave his DNA to gerald which was the make up for shadow but obviously even the ultimate life form isn’t even close to the original, can breathe underwater and can fight sonic to standstill on land (bodies him free 10-0)
