I think Sonic Racing Transformed is very fun. Other than some glitchy things like being shoved off the track from lag, I find the game very solid. Definitely an improvement from the first game imo. Probably the worst flaw on the original Sonic Racing that made me not like it very much was that it had bad balance. It was almost impossible to win with a character like Eggman, Chuchus, or any of the heavy characters. I think Sonic and Shadow were the best characters. But for Transformed, I already see some good balance. There’s also mods for each character which is basically options that can change the stats of the character. So for Eggman’s case, he was crap since he had shit handling and acceleration. But now, I can use a mod that improves both of those while giving up some other stat like speed, which makes him viable now.
If anyone is interested, I could stream some Sonic Transformed, but probably not today. Would be more interesting if I can get Hybreezy to join me on some lobby.

Yeah I’d just wait for the shell warning and hold the bannana behind me. I don’t know about knewer MK games but Blue Shell is really the only threat when 1st. Getting hit by Red Shell combos was no fun either though.
Hang on… bananas or other items didn’t stop Blue Shells in MK64, did they? O_o
Yeah it’s definitely more balanced, at first I was only using Amy but I can comfortably rotate between Amy, Joe, and Vyse and still compete. Metal Sonic seems really good as well (again), I haven’t played in a while but I still needed Gum, Raela, Eggman, AGES, and Gilius to unlock. We can play some time, I jump in and play aspect of career is pretty neat.
Finally caught up with everything in the thread thus far. Few comments:
- I hate how this flu has fucked up my sleep schedule. Waking up at 3PM or later has never been something I could be cool with, always feels like I waste days away when that happens.
- Re: Cosplay - Just look good. Play up your strengths while staying as true to source material as possible, otherwise a LOT of races are going to be SOL trying to have fun with something that should just be for fun’s sake in the first place. Also, entertainment media creators, there’s a whole fucking world of different people, cultures and attributes you can use to make good (NON-STEREOTYPICAL) characters. Please educate yourselves and get on that.
- I fucking love the Cyndaquil line of Pokemon. Typhlosion was my main man back in the Silver days.
- Mario Kart was actually a lot about driving at one point, but somewhere in the transition to Double Dash and the following sequels, Nintendo felt the need to condense track lengths and place a heavier emphasis on items which would eventually lead to all of MKWii’s bullshit like the nerfing of certain items to irrelevance, the nutty as fuck item distribution (hey, have 3 blue shells, a star and a bullet bill just because you’re 11th; you’re 5th and have been racing consistently without crack factor but need a little something to reach the big 4 that have all ODed and broken away farther than the rest of the competition? Have some Cloud AIDS. No take backs.) and numerous other things that just made that game my least played MK ever. Thank God for MK64, even with its dated featureset and presentation, it still manages to be a lot more fun overall than the other console releases.
