It’s funny how Japan has different mindset then America when it comes to “Pick a Top tier”
Tokido is different from a lot of players in Japan by the way because of his Pick a Top tier mentality.
It’s just the difference of competition in mastering a game in the long run or finding the optimal solution quickly. I don’t see how Japan differs in pick a top tier. Especially when have data these days to counter that myth. Most stuck to one character because all their events were character lock and one set. The big tournament results, arcade data mining and SBO always reflected the tier lists almost to the letter in usage of characters. I feel that Tokido is competitive fighting game theory in human form. Take the best and master it and become unstoppable.

Let me rephrase to be a little more truthy.
If your picking a bad character, you can still want to win, but you aren’t picking that character for that reason.
I always assumed they did that shit to embarrass people. “ha ha my character sucks and you still lost” I always get annoyed when people cheer on low tier for some reason because most of the time the person losing often isn’t even playing the matchup correctly. So I end up unimpressed because I can’t enjoy a win from ignorance.
