Playing an instrument is a simple mechanical skill, most of the same concepts are applied across a wide range of instruments, so, for example, once you learn one woodwind, you are really close to learning alot of them.
I’m not so good with the music theory though. I have a rudimentary understanding, but not any kind of expertise.

Good stuff. LOVE Miles Davis with a passion, with a good friend of mine a couple years back, we were able to re-create every song off Kind Of Blue. I was on set while he took Sax. I had another trumpeter friend who would sometimes join in. Great times. I’ve recently got into Coltrane and Kenny G. I feel that kenny G isn’t my type of jazz though. Check out Esperanza Spalding, from her FIRST single I knew she was going to be something great, and I was spot on.
RATM is pretty damn good, the passion that Rocha brings and the rest of the band brings is simply too good.
Nujabes is my love. Rest in Peace. I think if I would estimate, I had Luv Sic. 1-5 played over 1000 times in my life, and I still love it. Fortunately, Nujabes opened my mind to a whole new genre and many new artists (Kondor, Uyama Hiroto, Nomak, Ayur,substantial, Terry Colier,etc.)
I think I forgot to mention, but Gorillaz has to be up there with Nujabes. The love I have for the band is unfathomable, and I felt that every work they’ve put out to this date is unique, with El Manana and Melancholy Hill being my favorite songs. Although I can honestly say I didn’t really like all of the fall, I commend them for taking the risk and releasing int in such a short amount of time. Sad to hear that they broke up.
It’s great to know that someone shares apart of your musical taste.

I honestly started out listening to mostly video game music as a kid (preferably Megaman, SF, & Sonic). I’ve always liked jazz, though, and my tastes in that area have definitely spread out. My preference is uptempo jazz, but I’ve also discovered Acid Jazz, Nu-Jazz, and Jazz Fusion. I’ve also ventured into Techno/DnB as well. Haven’t met too many people with the same music tastes as me; seems like jazz is the road less traveled for music these days.
