Autoguard is forever dumb.
It was dumb in Alpha 1 (Watson used and won all events because it wasn’t banned)
A2 was harsher penalty for using it (1 giant super bar + limited number of autoguards as opposed to 3 bars for normal) so it wasn’t worth using
SFxT was closer to A1. The penalty for using autoguard wasn’t high enough. Increasing the meter spent isn’t enough, slow the meter gained too.

Yeah, but they’re setting it so that even if you block or tech a throw manually, they still eat your meter.
If everybody is broken, though, then it is balanced.
Which, granted, I know not everybody was broken in MvC1, but there just seemed to be a larger percentage of broken characters in MvC1 compared to MvC2. MvC1 felt like most team combinations were viable… MvC2 had more “False choices” than a college entrance exam.
That feel when you can tell the other player in ranked has a lag switch…but you win anyway…nope still
