I can’t think of a single move that having meter drain wouldn’t buff the heck out of. It is worth noting during the last stream S.Kill mentioned his movement cancels but not his “drain” feature. The headbutt would be the worst possible special to add the meter drain to, but even then it would create situations where meter would be taken and Modok would build large leads in levels from the get go.
If it’s cubes, well congratulations gentlemen, we just won the lottery-o-buffs. It could take 10 cubes to drain a full level and still be perfectly viable , maxed intelligence and took a meter while doing it?!?! That’s just too good.
I think you guys shouldn’t hype the whole meter-draining thing too much. His meter-draining move is probably going to be something impractical, like his throw or Jamming Bomb.
As for jamming bomb… Fine, gives us another reason to use it, and another reason for the opponent to try and not get hit by it.
Jake Hell is right. There isn’t ONE move that doesn’t get legitamately buffed with meter draining. Any of his weaker special moves, now have a new, legitimate reason to use them added with their previous attributes, and any of his good moves just get better.
El Maiz, I’m actually fine with balloon bomb being slow. I like slow projectiles, they take up space nicely and in the case of jamming bomb and H ballon bomb, it keeps the opponent from herpa derping around MODOK as much.
I cannot tell you how many times balloon bomb H has acted as a combo breaker when MODOK got hit. I’d love some tracking buffs, but I’d also love a million dollars, and I can get by fine without either.
You know, I didn’t mean that his throw is impractical in itself, but that if it is his throw that drains meter, then his draining capabilities won’t be anything really crazy or super useful (like they would be if it was the cubes that drain meter).
Come to think of it, Jamming Bomb could work as a draining move, if it set a “draining” state on the opponent that drains meter like crazy and that lasts the same time as the reversed-controls effect. It would make the trouble of comboing into Jamming Bomb pay off. Eh, not gonna happen, anyway.
Oh, OK. Now I understand your point. Well, it’s hard to judge how useful meter draining on his grab would be. Anything less than half a meter would be pretty meh considering MODOK combos after a grab can be pretty long.
Yeah. Honestly for any meter draining moves to really be effective, they need to drain the FUCK out of the opponents meter, or else it all comes back after a combo.
Maxed out Hyper Psionic Blaster deals 400k already. If it’s mashable, it would likely do more damage than all level 3s except maybe for Vergil’s “level 4”. Partially-charged HPBs would also get nice damage boosts.
Seth has already teased us with a changelog. I just don’t want to see MODOK get hit with a random nerf that happens to screw him over. That being said, he still looks like his Vanilla self in all the UMvC3 builds.
