It has been said that his hammer is nerfed (which I can see). But honestly as safe as Dante can be. His pokes are still slow and his zoning and rushdown are both good. good not great. In my opinion, he is pretty balanced, aside from a hammer tweak. I hope they dont do too much too characters that don’t REALLY need to be touched.

Aside from really big changes like Ryu’s shinku for example, all the properties, health (and healthbars), and general mechanics will change over and over again before we see Capcom settle on a release build. Fuck, they might just bring back universal air dashes for everyone in another 3 months, who knows.
I just wanna see huge improvements for Hsien-Ko at the end of this, she really needs to be scary this time around.
You know, I noticed something from a Taskmaster before he got knocked out. His H ground arrows actually land much closer to his body. This seems to me that the height of this attack was increased and replaced the range that’s in vanilla. Very interesting indeed. Oh and if they give spider-man any costume I would love to see Scarlet Spider before anything personally.
Hammer is the only thing that needed to be legit nerfed. It was too auto pilot of a move and basically his berserker slash. Most of his other special moves are reliant on assists or cancelling the recovery into DT (which forces you to burn a meter) to make really strong for zoning or offense. He’ll be fairly balanced for sure now that hammer wont be a reliable thing to counter every offensive tactic except pre emptive air throws or haggar lariat.

Plus, theoretically a slower EMD will make you go rushdown in more scenarios now. Taking away mags speed in the air will severely cripple that. Who knows how effective the push/pull move will be though- sounds interesting.
It’s actually a fully invincible dodge move, taken straight from the Viewtiful Joe games. Can only be canceled into Supers.
-Mag’s air dash does seem nerfed. The speed seems the same, but the distance traveled is very noticeably shortened. This on top of his j.H seemingly blowing people away further makes mid-screen fly combos nonexistent or forcibly shortened. You’ll have to do shorter combos until you reach the corner to do old mag damage.
-Ironman’s air Unibeam has noticeably shorter startup.

The speedup of Sent’s drones may actually be a nerf if they move at a fast enough speed to be a true blockstring.
Okay, got some hands on UMVC3 time today, played six VS games against somebody who could pull combos etc.
General feeling is that the game plays worse. Controls seem less weighty (even for Marvel). The button layout was not my ideal (and not configurable) (and I was playing on a pad) but things still felt odd.
Damage seems to have been upped, which is fucking crazy. It may be that damage scaling is greater as well but initial hits were really chopping guys down hard. Maybe a way to rebalance for more effective zoning / keepaway teams?
Dorm seems unchanged except the flame puddle?
Haggar seems pretty much the same. Range on his L3 seems a bit greater.
Morrigan got killed too fast both games (these three are my normal team) to comment. I was fucking with dashes and shit to see if there were changes there so that’s probably why.
I couldn’t do Ryu’s charged fireball, tried it with all three attacks. There may be something I’m missing there. Also couldn’t do the reflecting Shinkuu. There might be another input? (EDIT: After reading this thread it seems he has a transformation super. OK!)
MODOK seems slower. Greaaaaaaat.
Hsien-Ko seems WAY faster.
Ghost Rider is fun so far. Command throws like Skrull, a Yoga Flame, sort of moves like Blackheart.
Firebrand is the most combo-friendly of the new guys. A lot of his air combos leave him in flight state afterwards, which is interesting. His flame super is basically just one pass of Mystic Ray and doesn’t do much damage. Didn’t pull off his other two to test.
Hawkeye is actually really fun. His golden arrow super auto-aims. Still figuring out the utility of the various arrows - one stuns like Web Ball but longer, one has an ice effect, one seems to penetrate / have a lightning effect, one poisons (causes health to decrease, I believe). Pretty intuitive to play.
Strider feels pretty good so far! His mobility seems very close to MVC2, he’s got a lot of recovery on his specials just like we’re used to. I think people will be pleased.
So just to make things 100% sure the ROM and Hyper Grav loop have both been removed? Now Magneto’s only swag combos are his flight combos (shortened flight combos at that)? I know he also has the basic j.H ADF j.M xx J.H x3 combos.
I think the Mag nerf was totally unnecessary. EM Disruptor startup needed to be nerfed, and it is something I can live with; however, wtf were they thinking changing his air dash. Makes me so salty and sad

Mag also has some basic jump into air dash combos similar to storms (I believe it’s j.:h: air dash forward j. j.:h: land, repeat for 2 or 3x). In regular Mag/Storm fashion, his do like 50% more damage than hers too.
It’s more like the ROM combo is quarter-screen from corner-only. Who knows? Maybe his new magnetic controlling move might add some comboability to old Magz.
Yeah I was thinking that his new move might, and probably will, add tons of things to magnetos game. He still looks like has sick rushdown and triangle jumps. He definitely isnt BAD. Would being in Xfactor make it possible for him to ROM loop from anywhere on screen? hmm i wonder
I don’t know about the air dash length as I wasn’t looking for that. But the way air H hit was exactly the same. Somebody with a decent Magneto was doing :s:,,:h:, Flight,
,:h:, air dash forward, :h:, adf,:h:,adf,:h:,adf,:h:,:s: combo, did it three times, and ended one of them with XF, Gravity Squeeze. Everything hit like normal. Nobody was getting “blown away” or whatever.
