Chrisis for your whiffing cr.B situation i always go into medium TK if it whiffs. This was always my problem too until i started doing that. That or you can heavy TK cancel it. I still think the medium TK whiff is better because in most situations you will catch them on the backdash or get out of their way, because they won’t be able to adjust mid air to you going right under them.

Look for another compilation video by me soon showing some more tech of the Viper/Mag/Dante tandem. Got some pretty cool and very doable setups I want to reveal since i never get to go to tourneys at all. Most of these will show the power of good ol Tri-dash with Viper to open people up. Someone could use them. I’m sure most of these if not all haven’t been seen by other Vipers. Now i need to learn Magneto and Dante… but maybe i should wait till after UMvC3 to post this video so they don’t nerf viper too much lol

My fingers hurt trying to get in with seismo box loops.Its boring and if you miss thats a free combo on you. it’s complete HELL fighting a good phoenix who does nothing but cross you up with teleports and balls. I call for some of her normals to get some good range, and give her M Thunder Knuckle to travel more distance too. I’ll be all set after that

Her Medium TK goes half screen. There really isn’t any reason for it to go any further. You can’t have a wolverine mentality with Viper because she just doesn’t have those strong normals and really doesn’t need them. She is so strong in other categories its just insane. Otherwise she’d have Wesker status in terms of normals and it’d be way to easy to be brain dead with her normals. She’d truly be the best character in the game if her normals were boss. And the seismo box loop you need to super jump box dash for those. Not regular jump box dash otherwise they fall faster on the air S.

Phoenix is just a bad matchup. I just keep full screen and jump in the air and try and wait for an opening unless you tag her in. Then go nuts and try for an airthrow or unblockable setup. You’d be surprised the amount of options you have with someone getting tagged into the match for viper with the right assists.

I see. I have a problem with applying pressure with C.V., especially against Mag and Ammy. for some reason my BL dont connect with Ammy that well. but when I go in for a throw, I can get the BL done twice before air combo. Thanks for the tips

Viper’s ability to get in is stupid for a few reasons one of the primary being that other than Magneto people can’t safely summon assists against her thanks to the speed of seismic hammer which means it’s you + an assist versus them solo when they’re trying to zone you. Having a strong horizontal control assist really helps her out and lets her blow up a lot of characters very well.

As for Phoenix the match up is really chaotic. When Phoenix is on point it hurts a lot, when she’s being snapped in you have some of the best chances to kill her in the game.

@gottnoskill: Medium thunder knuckle is a risk when I play against people like champ unless it’s feinted as he has the reactions to punish that, damn Dhalsim background!

This is unconfirmed, but I heard you can no longer cancel TK into EXTK. This suggests that you can cancel specials with EX anymore.

As much as this is a nerf, it’s also pretty interesting and makes alot of sense.

FlyingVe. I hope that isn’t true. It would take away a LOT of options for her though. Definitely would make using her BK’s a much bigger risk. I wouldn’t be too caught up over it if they made her TK feints easier on hit.

and give it a try chrisis! Even on feint both of the characters will be at an even reset if champ happens to try to dash forward off a jump. I’d say plink a heavy TK feint but if you actually get a hit or block you might do an EX.TK by accident. I’ve noticed I do cr.M less and less now though, and that just comes from knowing it is a slow footsie, even though it is her best. I only do it on seismo FADC

@Chrisis, I believe M TK is -1 on block and L TK is +1.

I don’t mean on block, if you aren’t in block stun you can go entirely over it as Mags and if you are advance guard as it’s starting up and punish. :frowning:

Oh, yeah, I’ve been there… In that spot I usually I just burn an EX Seismo and grin in an evil fashion.

Alright, so my friend went to comic con and I asked him to test a bunch of viper, from which he forgot like everything I asked him lol. But yes, you cannot cancel TK into ExTK anymore. HOWEVER, my friend was telling me that whenever he put in the motion for EX he would just cancel recovery on the initial TK, so I ask him "cancel the TK? U mean like the 1 frame cancel on hit? " in which he responds “1 frame? Nah man that shit is way bigger than that now, I did combo>tk> cancel> combo several times”

So if the tk cancel is as easy as it sounds now, technically you can still do combo to TK>TK cancel>ExTK

Could he tell if it was just TK>EXTK that didn’t work, or is it that you can’t EX cancel specials at all anymore (which is what I suspect)?

I play viper, no she is not anymore broke than the majority of the cast and she is for sure not OP

And now if she can’t cancel her moves into ex moves I’ll be really sad, even though MvC viper made me realize how fun ssf4 viper really is so that’s where my viper loves is right now :slight_smile:
