It’s one of the reasons the DP motion should never be used for any 3rd tier attack. (tier 1 - normals, tier 2 - specials, tier 3 - supers).
They could just reset the input buffer during a super flash. This should be fine as most super flashes in marvel are pretty long and obvious, but I’m sure that would have unintended consequences.
While watching the option-select.com stream Pacoveli told me that as of the TGS build Viper’s Optic blast can be cancelled into other specials. Can I get any kind of confirmation on this insanity?
Also, this new buff makes me worry. On one hand, Capcom might just be very, very stupid, on the other hand, they might know something we don’t. Like there could be a big nerf somewhere, or that the hitstun scaling has really gimped Vipers damage, or that the minimum damage on her moves has been lowered (it is currently really high).
Imo, my only hope is for Nova to be fun, Vergil was a big letdown for me… I like that flashy shit!
I hope she didn’t get nerfed. Someone that played Viper in London wrote on the NeoG forums:
Viper
-optic blast is super cancelble
-hitstun deterioration is not applicable to her, she’s still beast
-managed 4 reps of the infinite before I flopped, I believe it’s still in.
-m.tk cancel on hit is confirmed not to be a 1 frame link, was doing that all day!
If optic blast is only super cancelable that makes more sense, but the people saying special cancelable made me worried that Capcom had bought the world’s supply of crack and smoked it all. o.o
Dr. Doom and Trish will probably be more viable. Can’t replace Dante or Amaterasu, Viper needs either Jam Session or Cold Star.
It will mostly come down to whoever has good synergy with Viper and Dante/Ama, is completely nuts in one or multiple ways, and has a wtfbeam/projectile (This character is currently Magneto for most people.)
It really depends on the entirety of the cast, there are a lot of things I didn’t run purely because Dante and Magneto are better characters. Access to barrier, hidden missiles, etc for Viper can be very scary.
Just curious, is there a video on this? Like, showing examples of what it goes through and applications and what not? Because if not, I was going to make a tutorial video regarding this tech. I could not find anything so far.
I was putting together something on how to beat stuff with this and EX siesmo, but outside of showing that you could use focus to hitconfim which side somone was on, the whole video kinda just said, you can beat everything, so I scrapped the idea.
Those two examples I gave are the most common, most times the other guy will have plenty of time to react do to the only CC super flash and relatively slow startup.
what do you guys think of Viper/Strider (or Viper/any of the new characters)? I don’t see Strider helping too much in the combo extension department for one, but more of resets with the tracking dive kick assist. Viper/Vergil is another future team prospect I’m looking into since it’s possible you could make use of the Judgement Cut assist to extend combos and help with zoning-- if not, Vergil also has that rapid slash assist which I hear has invincibility.
Strider basically looks like he’s good at starting combos, but not so much at executing them with high damage. If the capcom team are successful in their plans to make Aerial Exchange actually viable, and people start doing it, then I’d argue that they could actually do very well together, because he could do a quick combo and then exchange to viper, who would finish the job, with much grace and precision I might add.
But, honestly, I don’t see that happening. I’m seeing the “bar sucking” side exchange making it more viable overall, but still hardly used. I get the feeling that the situations it would be used in would be highly matchup specific (phoenix, other bar-suckers, etc).
As for the other characters, I already stated earlier (was it on this thread?) that I don’t think Iron Fist and Viper would work very well together. They might have some interesting shenanigans, and they would probably do some epic damage together with some practice, but their difficulties getting in which must be mended by an assist - which neither provides for the other - would mean that both characters would need to rely on a third assist character, which is just not a good thing.
Firebrand, I think that might work out. I feel like his assists might help a good amount with her rush down. But honestly, I don’t think I can say much about brandy.
Nemesis, I have no idea. His scary shoulder smash assist might help with scaring the opponent into defensiveness, and I suppose the rocket might help with approach, but I don’t see much else there. I actually do see some DHC potential there though, especially with that epic hyper-armor one to keep viper safe. And I think a DHC from his rocket hyper into burst time does sound pretty damn perfect.
Virgil, I think he could work pretty well, IF you’re very proficient with viper. The reason I say this is because he looks like a major meter hog, and while viper, in theory, does not need much meter at all to play well, it takes a lot of skill to really match said theory, and she’ll need some meter to keep her safe if you mess up (which you likely will), not to mention it takes away a lot of her cooler options. So, I’d say there’s synergy there, but if you’re really looking to maximize viper’s capabilities, I’d say it’s not a good idea. Viper is just too good when she can cover mistakes with EX Seismo, plow through projectiles with EX Thunder Knuckle, or destroy everything else lasting longer than 10 frames (purely estimation) with emergency combination.
Ghost Rider. Dat chain. He could probably help a lot with Viper’s zoning game. Otherwise, I don’t see much.
Dr. Strange. Honestly, I feel like he’s way too complicated to give a good synergy synopsis for any character. People like to compare him to magneto, but I honestly feel he’s something completely different from anything we’ve seen. I feel like he’s all crazy shenanigans, but in a good way. So, while I won’t go at all into specifics, I will say that I see potential for the two.
Hawkeye. For viper, he’d probably just be a lower-damge-higher-shenanigan version of taskmaster. Don’t get me wrong, I think hawkeye and task have completely different playstyles, but as far as viper is concerned, that’s what I see.
Ghost Rider gives Viper Fullscreen Siesmo confirms, and Viper gives Ghosty fullscreen unblockables and mixup. Plus I still think Ghost Rider looks really strong (tied with Vergil for most powerful in my opinion).
So yeah about my anti-air proposition for Viper… I won’t think she will need it after all. Her optic beam will be an anti-air seeing how the hitboxes are in this game. Just like zero’s buster shot which goes about a bit below his head and stops anything on entry.
