Hawkeye is an excellent keepaway character. Honzogonzo’s got a sweet Hawkeye, if you want to look up some videos of him. Hell, Honzo’s whole team is about keepaway. He’s been playing that way since Vanilla Marvel.
Thanks for the tip, looking it up now.

[]V.Joe is very mobile and the least restricted character movement-wise when playing keepaway and also hard to hit. However, his keepaway is weaker by comparison. Dieminion just likes him probably. All the more power to him. I like seeing fresh faces in top play.
[]Hawkeye is a decent choice. His arrows cover a lot of space. Full screen tracking hyper that hits immediately. He doesn’t have much in the way of pushing someone out when they’re in his face though.
[]Chris is another if you like comboing for massive damage from nearly full screen after a Magnum shot. He has trouble with characters super-jumping in though and has almost no attacks that angle upward though.
[]Dormammu is a really strong zoner with high damage but requires you to “guess” a little bit.
[]Ghost Rider is another keepaway character that uses chains instead of projectiles to keep people away. His normals are somewhat slow and has a few blind spots.
[]Morrigan requires meter and some execution to do fly-unfly cancels but she can effectively put down walls upon walls of projectiles going back and forth.
[]Arthur is ridiculously good at laying down walls of projectiles BUT has literally no movement options.
[]Taskmaster is decent at controlling space with arrows. Somewhat slow.
[*]Rocket Raccoon has a projectile-dominant movepool and is smaller than Joe with somewhat of the same movement. His combos take a while to get used to though. [/details]

Each of these characters don’t just specialize in keepaway but they do have projectile-dominated movepools and they’re useful for doing so. It’s up to you to figure out which ones you want to play and cover their weaknesses respectively. There are also characters that are mixed (I.E have keepaway options but can rushdown as well) such as Taskmaster, Dr. Doom, Deadpool, Magneto, etc.
Dieminion was a huge Joe fan even in vanilla, he played Joe all the way back in T12 and was doing very well with him. People don’t seem to understand that the best zoning characters in the game are the ones who not only can play lame but also can rush in and mix up their opponents when necessary. Guys like Hawkeye are limited in their close combat options. Dieminion understands that, he understands when to transit between zoning and rushdown, and that’s why his team is so good. There are a ton of characters whom people are sleeping on, Joe and Morrigan certainly are 2 of them, and on the long run I think they are going to be far better than what people expect them to be.
…I also think Joe’s keepaway is one of the rarest types in the game.
There is very few characters in this game that have a projectile can be actually IAD.
I play Joe and Morrigan, they’re both so sick and have awesome zoning styles!
So, what’s our response to throw-tech lock situations?

What are you talking about Throw-tech lock? Hulk and Task are obviously just practicing their new dance routine. Unfortunately Taskmaster accidentally threw Hulk and then shot him in the face with a .45, these things happen.
I agree with what y’all said earlier about ppl afraid to lose online and playing the same teams from vanilla. 2 of my friends play their vanilla teams and it looks like they haven’t even touched the new guys. Knowing them their record means more then having fun and trying something new.
Just watching and old video of mine (I play kind of bad so somewhat not worth watching) but this part is
Human Rocket? Yeah, Nemesis don’t care about that.
Has anyone put in the vanilla disc at all ever since Ultimate was released? I know I’m more than likely going to be the minority here but IMO vanilla gameplay…FEELS better; much more freeform and hits don’t feel like you’re throwing a punch at a fat dude after Thanksgiving dinner. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad as fuck Wolverine and Phoenix derp are gone, but vanilla has none of the combo constraint rules that Ultimate has.
Man, wouldn’t it be great if the DLC costumes had colors of their own? Instead of paying for one alt, we’ve be getting six! Instead of only having seven costumes, we’d have 12! That’d be great, wouldn’t it?

Ryu 2: His default from SF2: Hyper Fighting, I’d say it’s one of Ryu’s most recognizable retro alts.
Ryu 3: Introduced in The New Challengers, Ryu could use some green, couldn’t he?
Ryu 4: Personally, I think SF1’s Ryu has hair that better suits a Ken alt.
Ryu 5: The alt may not like the art of fighting, but he will become the king of fighters!
Ryu 6: BananaRyu has basketball dreams.
Felicia 2: Marvel’s sexy cat lady, Tigra. I can’t think of anything more appropriate.
Felicia 3: Thundercats, ho!
Felicia 4: Fighting is Magic. She needed a purple alt, anyway.
Felicia 5: Is this alt a jem, or is it just too outrageous?
Felicia 6: Felicia decided to share some colors with a fellow shapeshifter.
Wright 2: Let’s Begin The Operation! An homage to a fellow Nintendo DS everyday hero.
Wright 3: He’s got a scarf and a mask. I think that’s enough of a reason to make him Strider.
Wright 4: Instead of a cold, Wright has instead caught Hulkamania.
Wright 5: … and it’s running wild.
Wright 6: Another homage to another scarfed Capcom hero.
Frank 2: Okay, maybe it’s just me, but it always looked like the Chozo suit to me…
Frank 3: You’ll never have the Blues while Proto Man is around.
Frank 4: One of those classic Robot Masters, it’s Elec Man.
Frank 5: Snake Man was a favorite of mine - likely because of his music, but hey, Frank needed a green alt.
Frank 6: Frank also needed a purple alt, so I decided to go with Time Man from Mega Man: Powered Up.
Those look ridiculously good.
i probably would if i didnt give it to my cousin:(
pfft that game is so 2011.
…why do I play this game again?
Remembers the good times of original Marvel 3.
*Remembers the horrid lag issues, the DHC glitch, everyone always playing the same team online, the use of only 8 characters in tournaments, fighting vanilla Wolverine, fighting vanilla Phoenix, the original Haggar lariat, Tron fire and Akuma tatsu assists (this is coming from an Akuma, Haggar player).
…Yeah maybe I should stick to Ultimate…
Agreed. Imho they went a bit overboard with the changes and shouldve stuck to fixing the DHC glitch and X factor, the 3 biggest assist problems (Akuma, Haggar and Tron), Wolverine and Phoenix and generally lowering damage output a bit (though for some characters more than others ie. Magneto, Wesker, Task etc).
Otherwise the game felt a lot more fluent than this one.
So Hawkeye says “Wipe me down.” for his X-factor quote.
Doesn’t that mean “Give me a blowjob”?
Ahhhhhhh wouldn’t expect anything less from Clint.
I disagree. DHC Glitchs and the Derp tier made team building far more limited and restrained the freedom of the game a lot. Now you’re not stuck with characters that can do a DHC Glitch just because you need someone to start it. Creative team building is far more important, whether it be for the assists or for DHC synergy.
Also, the only combo restraint Ultimate has is the meter gain to do multiple hypers and DHCs throughout the same combo. Everything else is still there, although different and/or harder. The fact that you can’t do the ROM as you did before doesn’t mean Magneto can’t do combos anymore, and so on. Hell, even MODOK has a ROM now.
Keepaway is far more viable now as well, so people that enjoy zoning can actually do so without being raped by a Magneto spamming Disruptor. The game feels a lot more balanced, since most characters that were good in Vanilla still are just as good, and characters that were often overlooked now got a chance to shine. More viable characters = more freedom to pick a team.
In a nutshell, I ain’t ever looking back, no matter how much I miss Vanilla She Hulk.
