lol you my friend, have some bad taste in characters. Next time capcom reveal a bunch of new characters I think ill just ask for who your favorite is so I know who is gonna be repping the bottom of the barrel.
lol Im sorry Im being a dick right now, I just find your taste in characters hilarious.

Amaterasu
Magneto
Doom
Dante
Maybe Viper/Zero
Wesker, for all his pros, struggles against a proper keep away without an assist to back him up, same with wolverine and she-hulk and pretty much any character with above 1.1 mill Hp. The 6 characters I listed are the ones I feel can cover their approaches really well while simultaneously keeping the opponent out as well if the need arises.

Iām not knowledgable enough to thoroughly go through a list of point characters and select which are best for the job, but Iām thinking Spencer and his fast zips might be able to avoid all but Vajra, maybe Missiles. Heās also not very meter-intensive, though if youāre looking for a character who can use the meter Morrigan builds up, then someone like Skrull perhaps (I know youāve used him in the past, so you have more experience with this). Unless you plan to use that meter for mostly Dorm. Taskmaster might fare alright against all of these matchups, as heās pretty self-sufficient. I would also suggest Firebrand, but you said you donāt want to use him.
Another assist to consider looking out for is Frankās Shopping Cart.
Why? One of my two main teams is Wright/Tron/Trish (Tron/Trish/Chun is the other) and I generally own face unless I get against someone who is a lot better than me, or if I have to fight a really bad matchup (Zero can go die in a fire).
Iām actually terrible in this game so bear with me. The best point character in the game, if not the best overall character, is Zero in my opinion. The guy can do really well without assists since he has tons of ways to approach and his normals are ridiculous itās not that funny. I have actually used Zero/Dormammu (Dark Hole) in vanilla and it went pretty well.
Another great point character without assists is Taskmaster.
Thereās also Ammy, and Iāve been using her since day 1. Even with the air dash nerf she actually does really well with assists and can build up meter for Dorm. (Thatās not really important considering you have Dark Harmonizer.)
The other twoā¦I FEEL are actually great point characters who donāt need assists. Firebrand is one of them. I donāt know much about him, since I only picked him up yesterday. The only assist I usually use when I play him is nothing but a combo extender. (For now, at least, till I learn how to mix-up with it.) But I donāt really see him working with Dormammu since both of them need meter, and Dark Harmonizer imo is not enough. The other character is Captain America. I havenāt played him yet but just by watching him I can tell heās ridiculous and isnāt that reliant on assists anymore.
Honorable mentions because I feel like it: Strider (people usually play him on anchor but I think heād be a great point character. Though similar to Firebrand, too reliant on meter and does low damage.) and Nova (donāt know, he just came in my head lol.)
Iām not saying to drop them. Just that if youāre running a bad character, just be prepared to put in the work to do bring them to a competent level. Which sounds like what youāre doing. I think itās respectable, though many top players might not think so. This is just from a casual perspective compare to top tournies, though.
@Spio: Iād think Striderās best spot is second because he loves his meter. But thatās just my guess.
Well Im still in the air about firebrand so your revelation pretty much just relegated him to ass tier. Just playing, Id be very surprised if either of those two are below mid-tier, sure firebrand has ass damage but he still kills almost everyone in 2 combos, and has sick tools, resets and actual unblockables. And vergil is vergil, you donāt have a sword in marvel and end up being ass. It just doesnāt happen.
Dante or Magnus. Iād say Dante would fit your team pretty much perfectly. He can zone, he can mix up, he can do it all, plus with black hole to keep the opponent in place for help his airdash high/low/cross ups and his teleport tricks and Morrigan during combos and other times for āHi Dante sweety you look sooo sweaty heres some free meter. Ohhhh Dormy your head looks so hot why donāt I give you some meter to cool you offā
Plus cmon your team has to fit in some way. Demons, baby!
I donāt really play Firebrand too much but Iām working with him. My team is currently V.Joe/Vergil/Morrigan although I play a lot of other characters for fun like Wesker, Deadpool, Strider, Wright, Hsien-Ko, Shuma, Doom, etc.
This x1000. Iāve seen so much of Doom Spencer and Dorm itās not even funny. Ryu is more popular too but thatās probly just because heās easy and Akuma got nerfed. I even see more Wesker and Dante, which makes sense because Wesker got better damage and Dante is easier for scrubs to use now.
Worst part is all the characters I named, except Ryu, are bad matchups for Wright.
Yeah but he has Dark Harmonizer, but he also got Dorm.
Also, just want to point out something about my name. Itās actually a typo, itās supposed to be āSpinosaurusā, but when I figured it out while trying so many times to log in I didnāt feel like changing it lol. So Iād kind of prefer to be called āSpinoā instead, since I think Spio sounds weird, but it doesnāt really bother me so much.
Canāt believe I forgot about Morrigan when I mentioned the benefits of her assist in my post, lol. Can Strider build two bars for a Ragnarok at the end of his combo?
Doom can function, but I find itās really hard for him to open people up solo. Iām iffy about him. Iām surprised you and Qareen mentioned Amaterasu. With her air dash nerf, how do you guys see her performing so well solo?
I also think Magneto is absolutely not one of the characters. I donāt think he can handle dedicated keepaway solo, or handle Vajra.
Firebrand has serious problems dealing with zoning teams, and by zoning I mean characters with huge hitboxes on their normals. He really needs a projectile to help in get in there, but once heās in there, heās in there. That was my analysis after using him, at least.
Dark Harmonizer builds enough meter for everyone, haha. Iāve killed entire teams just from Skrull air throws and resets, always into Inferno, and I still have meter to throw out his level 3 for the last character. I think Spencer is a reasonable option, as is Taskmaster, but theyāre both so linear and mindless. Iāll keep them both in mind though, thank you.
Dark Harmonizer actually lets Firebrand keep Luminous Body up permanently, AND it generates surplus meter beyond that. Thatās without Firebrand even doing anything on his own, and of course he builds meter himself during Luminous Body. Thereās definitely enough to go around there. I think folks havenāt experienced just how fast Dark Harmonizer fills your bars up, haha. Itās every 110 frames, and fills up 30% of a bar. Luminous Body lasts 600 frames, so you can get 5 calls in, or 1.5 bars, before itās over. Again, thatās with Firebrand not even doing anything. In fact, if youāre willing to wait 20 seconds, you can just superjump around with Firebrand and get his level 3 + Luminous Body going, which deals 800K+ chip damage alone if you know how to work the helper without losing control of Firebrand.
Strider is an odd idea - Iāll think about it.
Haha, I totally have the Morrigan = Team Cheerleader thing going on in my head too. I kind of resent Dante for not accepting his heritage, thoughā¦
So, my best options look to be, IMO:
Skrull
Dante
Viper
Zero
Itās funny that 3/4 of these just happen to be top tier - cough.
I wouldnāt say its really hard for doom to open people up solo, his mix-ups are completely safe without an assist and he can cover himself with hidden missles. Plus he can convert any hit, anywhere on screen into 600-700k, plus his combos are completely self sufficient since he can build a bar or two in them.
Ammy, The air dash nerf has to be one of the most overrated nerfs in recent history. She has other ways of getting in, plus she can cancel her dashes really quickly anyway so its not a guaranteed punish unless your dormammu/hakweye/akuma, and even then only hawkeye can punish her anywhere on screen for air dashing. Plus she can easily switch from rushdown to keep away, and is one of the few characters who doesnāt need assists to open people up. Has the fastest normal in the entire game, and in sword stance has some of the farthest reaching normals in the entire game. Ammy is one of the best(if not the best) character in the game when it comes to fighting solo. There isnāt a single situation she canāt handle, and the only thing is you have to learn to be careful with her since she is like fine china.
Magneto, what makes you believe magneto canāt get in on his own? He still has the fastest projectile in the entire game, can cover every single angle on screen and still has a very nice dash. His mix-up is still crazy, and he has self sufficient combos(prolly the only thing other than health ammy lacks). Plus like ammy he can play the match-up, if he is against a hulk/wolverine he can keep away, but if he has against hawkeye he can RTSD. Outta curiosity, why do you think magneto suffers on his own?
lol I only get it 50% of the time but IDK. When I first got the game (Day -3 I think) I tried him and couldnt do shit but heās just too fun not to learn.
Magneto canāt handle dedicated keepaway without an assist of his own. Say, if the opponent had a Hawkeye with Doom Hidden Missile assist, he doesnāt really have much options to get in since EMD gets negated by arrows and if heās getting zoned a Shockwave punish wonāt do much damage from fullscreen. A tridashing solo Magneto can easily get swooped by Vajra.
I feel awesome for making a Vergil ragequit yesterday. Out teleported him, like a boss. I donāt get ragequitted on often, but I do hope to make anyone who uses the generic characters rage quit. Itās like a work of art when it happens.
Heheh nope. I personally like both English and Japanese voices for any game.
Why?
I actually studied Japanese and learned a bit.
When you know Japanese and English, youāll see that the voices for both languages are just as bad as each other.:3
But thatās my view. Living in Japan for 7 months did wonders.
