Yeah, how *is *Dante so powerful?

Lets sum up everything that we’ve learned.

Strange Trio > Everybody.

Done

That’s exactly what would happen lol.

Funny thing about Wesker players is, I don’t even get where the overall fun level is for the character. He definitely helps with the “WIN NOW” mindset, but in terms of entertainment (and winning long term), there are stronger characters in the game who actually feel rewarding to get good with.

Basically, compare Wesker to Viper/Dante/Zero. All four are top level characters, with the latter three arguably above Wesker when all the characters are played optimally. However, as you go down your Wesker experience, the overall look of your gameplay doesn’t really change (as there really aren’t many higher end combos to advance to), your main improvement comes from getting better at zoning/blocking/getting in.

Whereas when you go decide to learn a character like Viper, Dante, or Zero, you can see yourself improving the entire time. Learning your basic bnb turns into learning a more advanced bnb, which leads into learning even more advanced combos/setups/etc. Eventually this gives you the ability to make random people go “holy shit” as they get stuck in long, salt inducing combos (god forbid you mix Zero/Dante together, the ultimate “get a snickers” combo for making your opponent wait 40 seconds to push a button).

I just don’t see how doing Wesker ABCS --> BBCS is more entertaining (for the person playing) than learning to do the advanced shit with characters on the same level or better. It’s one thing for tournaments that you want to win right now as you’re building up skill with other characters, but when you see people that already have 1000 games online that all involve Wesker, you really have to wonder.

I

Because “Do I frighten you?” never gets old.

“Do I frighten you?” “Over here.”

“Please, try harder”.

Wesker is very fun to play, no matter how stupid good or how low his skill ceiling is.

What the fuck have I just read over the last 3 pages?

The greatest argument ever experienced in human history.

Wesker is fun because like Yun, he has everything and it all works as intended.

Ghost Rider > Dante all day errday

Wesker takes derp to new levels though.

Can you teleport --> S or teleport --> forward H?

Can you do ABCS --> BBCS --> dash --> Down forward C --> Super/Team hyper?

CONGRATULATIONS YOU WON THE WESKER PRIZE.

I actually wanted to play Wesker at first, but his vanilla projectile>combos was so cheap that I hated bringing it against my friends when we played. It’s like free candy, only you know the candy was stolen from a cancer patient.

Yes, I’m a total scrub.

D. C. Douglas has the perfect voice for the role, really. I can’t imagine Wesker sounding like anyone else, despite the fact that he was voiced by other people in the other RE games. The sort of slimeball voice combined with the growl really fits his personality to a T.

Also, have you listened to Wesker’s Japanese voice? It’s… Disappointing.

Because it’s fun to mash S and Taunt when you win

“HHMMMM! HHMMM! HMMMM!” puts shades back on

Especially when Chris’ japanese voice sounds so GODLIKE.

“Grenadeotoss FIRE! FIRE!”

Well he is that extreme over-the-top half-demon demon slayer hunter extrodinare, something you don’t see everyday. Ghost Rider at its core is just a Biker, yes he is a flaming skeleton, nearly immortal spirit of vengence but at heart he’s still a biker. I’m not saying Dante is stronger than Ghost Rider, but I just find it funny a BIKER is up in the ranks of Two gods (Thor/Ammy), The Sorcerer Supreme and such forth.

Speaking of voices, English Wesker is boss, Japanese wesker is not so boss.

I don’t know if this is the right place to post this, but I was wondering if anyone is interested in doing a Google+ Hangout on UMvC3. I’m writing an article on SRK about the potential of Hangouts for player developer. I’m planning to use a screencap from the Hangout.

I’ll give you a pretty straight answer. One reason is, not everyone is all about combos. I think people get too hung up on that stuff. Wesker has a lot of things you can work on other than combos, like his neutral game, resets, different zoning/assist layouts. I play against a lot of people that are way better than me at combos, even ones that use Wesker as well. What I like to put a lot of time and thought into when I’m playing is generally improving everything around combos. I win a lot of matches against a lot of people that are way better at combos because my neutral game is pretty decent, since I don’t spend my Wesker training time doing combo after combo. It’s very enjoyable for me to win games based on that rather than on who can do the longest TOD combo. Also as a bonus, it allows me to get better with my other two characters, who are often a bit more difficult combo wise. And I don’t just mean I use training time that I’d otherwise give to Wesker, but actual mental energy, since I’m very much not a savant at learning combos. If I had to learn tricky combos for all three of my characters, well, I probably wouldn’t be having as much fun, and my brain would probably short out.

The other big reason is that I just love the feel of Wesker. His normals feel like what I want my character’s normals to feel like for every fighting game, and he looks cool doing everything he does. I also love using his teleports, since they’re not based on your opponent’s location. It’s really fun for me to come up with different teleport fakeouts, and different ways to control space by doing teleports that aren’t necessarily getting you in right now, but are setting up a larger spacing or mind game. Having characters that teleport to a specific spot relative to the opponent bore the hell out of me. This might sound weird but I find teleporting with Wesker to be similar to moving the knight around during a chess game, and I find that very enjoyable and rewarding in general on a game by game basis. I also literally NEVER got tired of landing rhino charge, funnest move in the game for me, both in terms of visuals and execution, love that he counters with one big badass hit, so cool. Too bad I can’t land as many in ultimate though.

Maybe not a great answer, but generally this is why I’ve never gotten tired of Wesker. Plus he’s Neo and his voice actor did a great job making his hilariously and cheesily evil.

The true god tier voice actors along with D.C Douglas in this game are Japanese and English Spencer’s. Why?..
English Spencer: BIONIC! AAAAAARRRRRRRMMMM!!!
Japanese Spencer: BIONIKU! AAAAAWWWWWWHHHHHH!!!
Now that’s hype.

If we are talking about voices we can’t forget japanese Spencer “BIONIC UGHHHHHHHH!” anyone?
Edit: ninja’d

Rhino Charge looks so weird when you counter something like Skrull Torch.

Another thing with Wesker is that he’s very flexible and less team-dependent than the other good characters. He’s not as dependent on meter because of his resets either.

As far as hammy voices go, Spencer is still my favorite. Everything he says has a degree of being ridiculous and stupid (usually centered around that arm) that it’s funny. Japanese Spencer, meanwhile, sounds constipated. Bioniku ehhhhhhhrrrrrrrmm

Chef why do you have to beat me to these things
