Because he’s Mega Man (X)
I seriously doubt we’ll be seeing Mega Man X based solely on the fact that Zero has an alternate that turns him into essentially a clone of the character. Capcom’s repeatedly stated that they chose alt colors with gameplay in mind in order to avoid confusion, and as such I don’t think they’d add in a character that would look exactly like Zero’s new alternate. Far too much potential for confusion, even if you could just change Mega Man’s colors.
If we’re going to see a Mega Man, and I almost doubt that at this point, it’ll be Classic or .EXE. I’ll be kind of baffled if they never add him in, though, due to the sheer amount of money they could make off of him (unless they’re saving him for Super Ultimate MvC3 Turbo Platinum Edition to ensure sales).
Why would they give Dante and Vergil palette swaps of each other then? Those two are much more similar in appearance than Zero and MMX, only difference is it costs money to make Zero into MMX. I’m not saying give me MMX or else, I’m just saying this argument falls flat based on those two in my opinion.
But the servbots and Megaman are not their own characters. They simply exist as a cosmetic detail to another character. Megaman fans want a playable Megaman, not an alt for Zero. Until I see a master list, I will be reluctant to mention anyone because the list might be released and someone will go: “BUTHESALREADYDECONFIRMEDBECAUSEHESACARD!!1!” I would rather avoid that.
I was afraid this thread would fade into obscurity (as in the second page) for a while. Good to see it up and running again.
Oh, and Cammy shits. I’d take her over Chun-Li or Gouki ANYTIME.
Uh?
Chun-Li, besides being the first female fighting game character, is way more interesting than Cammy-whose moveset and playstyle is just divekicks and having a shoto uppercut. Chun’s an actual interesting rushdown character when pulled off correctly. Besides that, Cammy’s character design is just her ass which hasn’t even looked that good recently. they never make her out to be a powerful character or anything really. Most the time shes getting fucked over or being a slave.
Gouki is only “repetitive” with other shotos in the game. They need to do one with just Akuma because he has the best moveset and design of the shotos. Hes a good jack of all traes character and way cooler than Ryu and Ken. Oh and he started crossovers, by appearing in XMEN:COTA before the vs series was even thought up.
If Sigma is in, consider the DLC bought. Seriously, his X4 and X5 humanoid forms are awesome. I’d prefer the X4 form with the Sycthe tho. He has boatloads of moves tailor-made for a fighting game. Make this happen Capcom, even at the cost of no X or Megaman classic.
LOL. Mike/Joe being older than Guile doesn’t make them better. Besides i said “i’d take”, not “she’s better”.
Chun has a fireball, DAMN, how fucking original. Cammy’s “Spin Knuckle” and “Hooligan combination” are more original than any move in Chun’s arsenal. And Cammy holded her own better against Juri than Chun-Li did. EVERYTHING about Cammy’s storyline, is more original than basic, boring, tired Chun-Li. Cammy’s shadaloo storyline alone shits on Chun’s. Good luck trying to arrest Bison and avenge her father.
Well, I figured you’d like Cammy better since you said you’d take her over Chun.
Chun’s fireball is the lamest thing bout her, but hey now thats even pretty cool, it crumples. She got EX SBK for a gtfo, plus normal SBK for combo extender. And always interesting, hard to pull off combos with her Lightning Legs. Plus a couple other moves like headstomp and tenshokyaku that also have good uses if you’re creative. And she always gets double jumps and double air dashes to make her a genuinly interesting character.
And what exactly is cool about Cammy’s story? Cool, she was Bison’s ass slave for a while. Now she wants to go join some fake ass task force where they all wear green jumpsuits and look generally stupid. Please. Interpol/S.I.N/CIA/Shadaloo all shit on Delta Red.
Oh, and except Spin Knuckle and Hooligan Combo suck ass in pretty much every game ever. Now take a look at Demon flip, thats a real mix up move.
I dont even really like Chun tho, but shes better than Cammy. Still, lets get some real SF girls. We got C.Viper, thankfully. Now how bout Ibuki/Juri?
I’d like to axe Ryu from this game too, in favor of Bison/Gill/Urien…
Dante and Vergil look alike; MMX and Zero’s alt would look identical. That’s the difference in my eyes.
Obviously there’s no room for confusion between MMX and normal Zero, I’m referring specifically to the alternate costume Zero received. There’d be some room for confusion if both MMX and MMX-ified Zero fought each other, and Capcom has stated in their various blogs about alt colors, etc, that they design these outfits with avoiding player confusion in mind.
They could always just give them a substantial size difference or something, of course, but bottom line is that I really don’t think we’re seeing MMX anytime soon.
Everything about Chun-Li but her being the first lady of videogames is LAME ass shit. And DEADDDD @ you mixing things up, first you say Chun’s moves are more original, but when i bring up her WEAK ass fireball, now you’re going usefulness wise. If that’s the case, Cammy’s “Cannon Spike” beats out any Chun’s move out of priority. She also has better damage output and has more health AND Cammy has a double jump as well. DEADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD @ 1 button “lightning kicks”, i see you like going easy mode.
She wasn’t just Vega’s slave, but her top soldier. “She could destoy an entire country alone”. Can Chun-Li?
Psycho Power flames comming out of Cammy’s legs is also more interesting than Chun’s LAME ass fireball, 1 button kicks or anything about her and her storyline. And THAT’S why Shadaloo Cammy alone shits on Alpha AND Classic Chun-Li put together. Cammy has evolved from a mindless, dangerous puppet soldier into a FIERCE, STRONG ass woman who takes care of everyone around her.
Oh, and lol @ you comming up with that shit. Juri is THE lamest SF4 character, we don’t really need anymore Sf4 original characters since we’ve gotten the best one, C.Viper, let alone that generic bitch. And Ibuki blows nowadays, not here for her cock-hungry persona.
I suppose this is true though they could always make X’s movement completely different to Zero in the same way Vergil/Dante don’t move the same. I’m not saying the twins confuse me I’m just comparing it. Either way I don’t think we’re getting MMX either as much as I’d like to see it, but I also don’t buy the excuses a moveset is too difficult to come up with. If the Pac Man and Mega Man rumours become true about SFxT clearly this whole fiasco will be explained anyway no matter how silly that is.
That’s what I want to believe, but there’s a legit possibility that they simply can’t think of a moveset (which is kinda sad). Keep in mind that Capcom didjack Ghost Rider’s moveset from a MUGEN character.
Saying “we can’t come up with a moveset for him” is clearly total BS; if they can come up with such an unorthodox and hilarious moveset for *Phoenix Wright, *of all people, they can come up with a moveset for anyone.
It’s just a smokescreen, I think.
I honestly think they may well be holding back Mega Man in case they need to make another version of the game down the road, as the presence of Mega Man would guarantee that it would sell pretty well. I *really *hope that’s not what they’re doing, but I wouldn’t be shocked.
Canon Spike has priority, who cares it doesnt make it more useful than Chun’s moves. Thats like saying Bison’s ultra is more useful than his scissor kicks because it has more invincibility.
I didnt say anything about 1 button lightning kicks? I’m talking about SF/Old School VS Series Style Lighting Kicks.
She couldn’t destroy another country alone. Lemme see that from a legit canon source. Her strength was nowhere near that. I bet she couldn’t even beat say, Ken.
Also, I haven’t seen Cammy take care of shit. Only her ass being saved and kicked multiple times in SF4. She only did anything in the opening to SF, showing up to fight vs Juri WITH Chun and still on the losing side…
Like I said, I hardly even like Chun. Just Cammy is even lamer than her.
And wtf do you mean me “comming up with that shit”? Juri ain’t lame, shes a psycho bitch with actual interesting fighting style, backstory, and shes not just a slave like Cammy was. Ibuki, I’m talking gameplay wise. Couldn’t agree more that her storyline is dumb AF now.
Nostalgia votes, definitely was a driving factor… I get the whole thing about Marvel using the game as a vehicle for characters who are currently relevant; but I think a lot of players would prefer to just throw continuity and sense out of the window and just play with our old favorites again; like in Tekken Tag
I think I noticed something. Do you remember how Wesker’s 4th color was a hint for Vergil?

What if he holds another hint?

Sorry about the bad quality. If you notice, Wesker’s last color is based off Bison.

(Couldn’t find the link to the costume color blog)
Bison for DLC anyone?
I think that one was more of a tribute, as the roster’s already pretty full up on Street Fighters and if we get DLC from the Capcom side that’s not Mega Man fans will riot.
I think they’re both just homages not hints. Even if Bison were to become a DLC character I still wouldn’t classify it as a hint. Nemesis has a Man-Thing ALT, that doesn’t mean we’re getting him either…though that’d be kinda interesting.
I had just written a post for the Dream DLC thread, and right before I hit send, the thread was locked. Oh well, Diek suggested this thread, so I’ll just stick my choice for my dream DLC character right here.
My choice would be Darkhawk. Dude looks cool and would have a great moveset due to his powers and abilities. He’s fairly obscure, though I think he was decently popular in the 90’s, and considering Rocket Raccoon is in this game, I don’t think Darkhawk would have been too far out there of a choice.

Here’s a rundown on his powers from wikipedia, to give you a sense of what his moveset could be.
The Darkhawk body has enhanced physical abilities, including strength, agility and reflexes, powered by the extraterrestrial amulet he wears. The retractable glider wings under his arms allow him to glide on air currents, and he can also fly at speeds that let him fly from New York to California in only a matter of hours. Even major injuries to his Darkhawk body can be repaired by switching back to his human form; his Darkhawk body teleports back to its holding space on the Darkhawk ship in Null Space, where it can be repaired almost instantly. As the Darkhawk body is no longer separate from Chris and does not teleport to Null Space when not in use, it is questionable whether it can be repaired as quickly as it once was.
Darkhawk can project energy from the amulet in his chest as a focal point, either as concussive force blasts, or as a circular energy shield; (Chris referred to his force blasts as “darkforce blasts,” until he encountered the actual Darkforce Dimension in New Warriors). Darkhawk also has telescopic and infra-red vision, and a grappling hook claw-cable on his right arm shaped like a claw.
For a time, Darkhawk was upgraded to a new body design, which gave him greatly enhanced powers. His amulet could project force bubbles in various shapes and he could combine his force fields and force blasts into a giant, hawk-shaped construct around his body. He could fire heat beams from his eyes, be healed by generating an energy pod around his body, and had a single extendable claw on each wrist. He could also mentally communicate with the Darkhawk ship, and could teleport weapons from the ship when he was on Earth. At one point, he was outfitted with additional body armor on top of his android body.
In this body, he was separated from Chris Powell, and also retained Chris’ memories. The two were later merged into one being in the final issue of the Darkhawk series, so that Chris could turn into Darkhawk on command. The Darkhawk android body no longer existed and the two separate entities became one.
At some point after the cancellation of his own series, Darkhawk reverted to his original form under unrevealed circumstances, although he can still summon his second armored form.
