UMvC3 Captain America Changes Thread **Only new information**

yeah cap/hawkeye/iron man or spiderman/hawkeye/cap avengers seem to work well together either way

I managed to get the game early, but here are a few pre-notes while I’m messing around with Cap:

[]Due to the shield slash having reduced hitstun, most BnB combos won’t work anymore (darn you evo build, you deceived me). For example, the opponent with tech from a shield slash around 11-12 hits.

]However, the fact that you can otg shield slash is* ‘very*’ helpful in extending combos
[]Jumping L shield slash DOES otg, along with his ground version.

]Double jumps in combos will probably be needed to extend his combos to do max damage.
[]Double jumps can be done at any time in the air.

]It is possible to combo from an air throw into otg shield slash, but so far I’ve only been able to pull it off when i threw the opponent as close to the ground as possible.
[]Cap’s Vanilla MvC3 corner combo might be a good reference for ideas for creating his ultimate version combos.

Im wondering if it is possible to combo off Cap’s otg shield slash just like the normal one. Does anyone know if his shield slash combos work in the corner now?

In otherwords a relaunch. I think it’ll be possible.

This reminds me, I was gonna save this till I actually bought the game but. But Clint’s poison tip would be great for cap’s throws.
This assist: otgs, doesn’t really scale damage, comes out fast, and adds additional damage. Allowing you to launch the opponent for a nice combo into your own otg at the end.
I think it would help Steve out a lot, especially since word is that he has a hard time comboing from throws really high in the air and he would be able to build meter rather than just SS>HCS.
Thoughts?

From what I’ve played, it’s not fast enough to OTG off a throw.

Jumping Shield Slash loop in XFC doesn’t work anymore. You only get 3-4 reps before they pop out :frowning:

yes! btw, does anyone know if the shield slash assist is otg? I know the vanilla version was the medium slash, but it’s worth checking.

I couldn’t get Final Justice to hit consistently after OTG shield slash either. I did it once and tried it more times as I played more and it just kept whiffing. I think I need to add an assist in the mix or something. This is in the corner

I can’t think of any assists that’s not the medium version of their attacks, that said, it’s still the medium one.

So what assists do you think Cap will benefit the most from in ultimate? Plasma Beam seems like a good choice considering how solid Doom is, what non-projectile assists help him the most on point?

hey im new to the Cap forums and i’ve decided im gonna run him hawkeye and dante, hope to have fun coming up with new technology with the rest of you guys…i also play on psn so any psn player out there hit me up so we can run sets

For milking out the most damage with cap, you’ll need assists that will lock the opponent after you otg them with a shield slash.

If you don’t want to go along that route, anything that will hold the opponent in place long enough for cap to relaunch and score a few more hits helps a lot, since Shield Slashes have limited/specialized use in combo extensions.

So multi-hitting characters like chun li/doom, wall/ground bounce assists like skrull/spencer, or even otg assists are great for helping cap break past the 800k mark and approach the 900k mark for damage opportunities. (The power of mashable Hyper Charging Star is not to be underestimated either).

I can only break 700k at the moment. How’d you break the 800k mark? like what characters and assists etc

no way we are breaking the 800 mark with UMVC3 cap (except with lvl 3 or x factor). He just doesn’t have any moves that cause wall/ground bounces, soft/hard knockdowns like danter…well unless they buffed the damage on his normals, but I doubt it

When I get my hands on this game, I will make sure I find someway to break 800k! There are soo many combos in my head that are just waiting to be tried! The minute I get out of school I’m going straight home and playing until I can’t feel my hands anymore lol.
