UMVC 3 Chris Redfeild team composition

Is hulk a viable teammate for chris? I currently run vergil/hulk/doom, but im looking to spice things up by throwing chris in the mix. Im thinking hulk gamma wave and doom Plasma beam…

Hulk anti-air gamma charge forever. It’s got super armor so you can just keep throwing it out with something very close to impunity. Chris+beam makes for some very annoying ground tactics, so when they inevitably take to the air, you can hulk the ever-loving shit out of them.

Chris/Spencer/Skrull.

I wanted to make a team using my 3 favorite chars and this works pretty well. I used to have Doom on anchor with hidden missiles to protect the skies but with Skrull I use orbital grudge to play keep away. Obviously I used Spencer’s slant shot for grenade launcher & sweep combo shenanigans.

I was thinking Taskmaster/Dante/Chris…

Chris (Gun Fire), Skrull (Stone Smite), Frank (Shopping Cart)

What do you think?

Right now my main team is Cap (shield slash ) Chris ( gunfire ) and Spencer (slant shot)

I was wondering what you guys think of Chris as an anchor. I currently am looking for an anchor for my Spidey/Skrull team. Someone who has a good projectile assist to benefit both. What are your takes on Chris as an anchor? what are his pros and cons as an anchor? Also what do you focus on when using him in that position as well as what things should I work on with him as a character? I would greatly appreciate advice.

if you’re legit interested in using chris on that team, I’d go with skrull as anchor

chris is decent as anchor but not great, not as good as skrull

I’m no chris expert but his pros are: large x-factor boosts for huge damage/chip, can do some good work with meter…I dunno if he has any (pseudo) infinites…cons are that he just has limited options for opening people up without an assist, people like doom, wesker, and spencer can really easily keep away from him and stall out x-factor

Does Skrull have any synergy with Chris on point?

Tenderizer can help set up some nasty grenade setups and helps Chris control some of the space up and in front of him (super jumping opponents).

I tried out Chris/Skrull and it can work with Tenderizer for lockdown and combo extension. The problem with Tenderizer is that you have to combo in this window of time that is at the end of it or else they will pop up from the last Tenderizer hit. Otherwise, a proper Chris combo DHC into Skrull should be 1million easy.

I’m wondering who would fit best in between Chris and Strider to make Chris really good.

dat o.c. swag

Sentinel. Drones. That is all.

Dante. I used to run Chris, Dante, Strider in the beginning and it was nice.

What do you guys think of Chris (Gun Fire) / Zero (Ryuenjin) / Vergil (Rapid Slash)?

On point, Chris has access to a somewhat decent anti-air and Vergil’s Rapid Slash; this helps me push people midscreen back to the corner to continue my shooting. In the corner, I can dhc Chris’ sweep combo into Zero’s Rekoha, giving zero access to a projectile assist. As an extra, Zero’s Rekoha can dhc into Chris’ Level 3, if the opportunity ever arises. Lastly, “Dark Vergil” on anchor.

However, my zoning with Chris is kind of crude… My general game plan with Chris is to use/spam gunfire M to keep away on ground and d.H --> magnum in the air. If they get close, I use either assist, though usually rapid slash. My DP motions suck online, so I don’t rely on grenades yet.

My best character as of now is Zero, so should I switch my order to Zero/Chris/Vergil? Appreciate any advice!

Spencers diagonal grapple assist can make for Chris’ best combos in the game especially in the corner, no other assist can mimic it. I have found this out recently even though I was kinda stubborn not wanting to play Spencer because I thought the character was boring yet since using him he is now one of my favorite characters to play.

Just gonna say this, as I am a vet Chris player. Been playing him since Vanilla and lots of people have given me compliments on my Chris play as well, online and offline at tournies. If you are not using flame grenades you are playing Chris wrong. That is his most effective tool as people WILL fall into them. And from there you can start combos. Yes Chris can zone but honestly part of his zoning is to make use of those flame grenades, u mix it up by throwing those and zoning while the fire is down. People will try to make an approach and lots of times will get tagged by the flames where u can then go from there.

Honestly I don’t recommend Chris as anchor. IF you are confident enough with rush down and grabs then give it a shot since Chris’ grab is one of the better ones in the game but other than that without an assist some characters can lame him out pretty well because of his not to great mobility and his non-existent tech vs upback players. I run Chris on point and usually keep him in till he dies, rarely will I dhc out because my next 2 characters are spencer then sentinal and i have nice setups with them working together. Chris survives pretty long too so by the time he’s dead i either have 3-4 meters stocked or the other team is already dead from a Chris OCV. It’s up to you though.

Haha my Chris has improved a lot since a month ago; however, now that I am trying to use those grenades/mines, how do I find enough time to lay them down safely? I always get my ass handed to me by teams that don’t give me time to breathe…
