Umm, I never said I came up with that idea and threw a patent on it. It was an idea that I pitched to my fellow SRK staff when we first starting using consoles for EVO. If we all actually agreed to do the whole stick holding area idea, we would have announced it. So the idea didn’t fall through and the idea never resurrected, even if many people requested it. But I thank you for the attack. It must make you feel strong. lol.

How Bout trophies and an Award Ceremony for each game. I mean some of these dudes are flying all the way in from Japan. Also, what would any event be without a trophy or awards ceremony?

When I said I came up with the idea, I did not mean that “I solely came up with the idea.” How about I change the wording a bit, “it was an idea I thought about and brought it up with the staff at the time.” Better? Anyway, joystick holding area will never happen unless someone wants to dedicate their whole day at evo baby sitting joysticks. We already have too much to handle when it comes to the tournaments.
Alex, we did something similar for Evo2k2 at UCLA. We had a championship belt for 1st place winners and black belts for 2nd and 3rd. Definitely a concept to revisit for future tournaments. We just need the time to throw the ceremonies.

Sweet av. I agree with that. Peepz should have like their whole intro song played during the awards with a trophy and like a big check with their name on it. That’d be hot.
As for next year…I like Red Rock so I don’t mind having it in Vegas next year. I wanna be able to experience Vegas next year when I’m old enough. Otherwise…the more sponsors the better and place me against someone that sucks so I can move up next Evo. LOL. I definitely look to doing a lot better next Evo though and in some ways I’m glad I didn’t qualify for East. I wanted to see what it was like to have to come from the bottom and work your way up. Seeing what it’s like to have to already be above everyone else. Frankly…that’s a lot of hard work and I’ll have to really work on my game to be able to do that next year.
I strongly prefer pools if possible - I think that’s a much better experience for most everybody. I admit to being pretty much amazed about how well things were run though.
I would like to see these two things next year:
- Photo booth: everybody gets their picture taken. Who is DevilJin? Did I meet him? It’d be cool to build up a semi-official SRK facebook, put some names to the faces. I realize you can have profile pictures (I use mine), but not many people do that.
- Security stand: Probably not possible for a variety of reasons, and probably actually not too helpful, but you could pretty easily have a raffle ticket roll and have people put their items behind a counter, get a ticket, tape the other half to the item, and then you only get your item if you have a ticket. You could do this pretty easily with a table, two people, and a raffle ticket roll. =\
Wow I think that’s a really cool idea there’s always so many people I wanna meet but I forget so something like a facebook would be sick!
And I also think it would be cool if they brought back player intros for top 8 
I know one year no one did anything cool? So that’s why it got taken away I think that’s a pretty stupid reason just cause no one did back flips or a crazy little jig doesn’t mean intro+picture isn’t hype.
The problem with pools is that they garuntee everyone (Pool - 1) games. so a 5 man pool plays 20 games and eliminates 3 people and sends one to losers. In double elim you need 7 games to do that. While there is some time saved with pools, you are playing a ton more games.
OTOH Evo could probably have pools if they didn’t spend an entire day on just top 8… (runs for cover)
