I can actually do the dashx2 on Yun. It’s pretty easy 'cause you can do the first dash real early. Plus the 2nd dash comes out faster than an ex dash so it’s not that tough. I think vs shotos in the corner I’ll just do dash into claws if I want to taunt after. It’s just that if you do the ex dash you get to taunt and be right on top of them. But then if I can’t do it at 90%+ it’s not worth it, can’t afford to lose dmg/taunt.
The double dash punch doesn’t require charge partitioning. It’s not hard on about half the cast, but the harder-to-juggle characters require charge buffering, which is where you do charge back, toward-back-punch to get as much time to charge for the second dash punch as possible, try to get the first dash punch in as early as possible, and then try to do the second dash punch as soon as possible.
HugoLizard, you hit the nail on the head. The ex dash punch is worth doing not only for the extra damage (which, while admittedly small, is important for a character that has trouble landing damage) but also for the excellent positioning it gives you. You not only get a taunt, you get to place yourself in whichever spot is best for you at the time. If you want to be right on top of the opponent on wakeup, there ya go. If you want to be back a little, you have time to walk back or dash back. You’re also totally right that if you can’t get the ex dash punch to come out whenever you want, you’re probably better off just using regular double dash punch or dash punch to slaps, since, as you say, you can’t afford to lose out on the damage and taunt.
Meh, I added some character-specific info and made a bunch of cosmetic changes.
It’s stupid how I keep finding things to tweak, especially considering I haven’t actually added much in a while. Nevertheless, here’s the guide version X-ty X.
Glitch in the matrix, I presume?..
Nope…it really can’t be parried high. Try it in training mode and watch yourself get hit.
I can’t wait
posting in legendary Q tutorial thread.
I’d offer advice but I’m a horrible teacher.
Wait, so, what’s the problem? Close standing forward can only be parried high? I’m pretty sure that’s right… dang, now I’m all questioning myself. Can it be parried down too?
Can’t be parried low.
Well I’m thoroughly confused. What’s the issue here?
Nothing. I just assumed it could be parried high and low, since it looks like a low hit on-screen.
Hey Ultra Dave
How do you do capture & deadly blow+dash punch+dash punch?
i can do capture deadly blow+dash punch but allways miss last dash punch
I ve seen it done on Yun & Akuma alot.
do you use Light :p: for both dash punchs? or different punch?
I’m assuming you’re talking about the double dash punch corner combos? If so, there are different timings and strengths of punch buttons for the various characters. Some characters, like Akuma, require you to do two jab dash punches with pretty strict timing, and some others, like Yun, can get hit by fierce dash punch and then strong dash punch, and the timing is pretty easy. If you look at the combos section on the first page, you can find which combination of button strengths you need to use against each character. As for the timing, in general the jab-jab characters are the hardest and the others are all pretty easy. If doing two jab dash punches is too difficult for you, you can do jab dash punch to strong slaps, which is easier on the timing and still gives you a free taunt but does a little less damage.
If you’re talking about the midscreen overhead dash punch combos, well, same thing. The button strengths and characters it works on are on the first page, and the timing varies but is generally stricter for the jab overhead dash punch characters.
cheers for that
Dearest David of Ultra,
What is your opinion of Q’s ground cross up?
()
Also, European chicks are hot. Your thoughts?
Sincerely,
Sanchez
He also has universal overhead ground crossups midscreen and in the corner, but all of his ground crossups only work against certain characters and some of the characters that can get hit by one of the ground crossups can’t get hit by the others.
What do I think of it? I think it’s a cool trick. I’ve never had occasion to use it in a tournament, but I never see anyone else use it in tournaments either, so I doubt its usefulness.
As for European chicks, yeah, way hot. I dated this really hot Finnish girl for a while, but she had to move back to Finland. Also I’ve lived in France and England for short times and traveled all around Europe. French - hot. Ethnic English people - not. Hottest place I went to? Guess. It was Sweden.
What do Swedish chicks have to do with Q? This is getting WAAAAY off topic…and it’s good!
what the strengths for cmd grab normal dash punch normal dash punch on CHUN. and if you have never done it dont respond :wgrin: .
Ty Ty Ty, disappointed I didn’t see you at Interface or FFA this week. I wanted to see you play Q for the requisite 5 seconds it takes before you move on to another character. Ohh!
Anyway, if we’re talking the fancy Chun midscreen combo, it’s roundhouse c&db, strong dash punch, fierce dash punch.
