:lovin: I love this thread! Keep up the good work UltraDavid!! Vids are great. I actually printed off the first page as a kind of study guide to browse at work. It’s helped alot. Awesome to see the love for Q.
There may or may not have been updation to this thread a couple of days ago. I don’t know, it’s in the past, and I don’t have a time machine. But now? Lemme tell ya. This thread shines with new information and arrangement like the hindest of quarters on an amusing little baby.
Omski, it’s cool. SF is all about asking questions.
And srt4mike, that’s great dude, really cool to see that this is actually appreciated. Here’s to your Q going from best in Fargo to best in all of the Several Dakotas… heh, or does the first automatically imply the second?
Pretty much . . . I am probably the best . . . the worst . . . the only . . . ! You do not want to know how close the nearest 3S cabinet is . . . simply frightening :wasted: !!

I was just wondering UltraDavid, or any experienced Q player, how do you manage to pull off a dash hit twice in the corner? I just can’t seem to do it against the characters that can get juggled by it.
(By the way, brilliant guide and videos!)
Is your problem specifically that you don’t have enough charge to do the second dash punch? Easiest way to remedy this is to overlap the charge of the second dash punch with the execution of the first one. What this basically comes down to is doing the first dash punch (hold)back, forward, back+punch to squeeze in that extra bit of charge time. Overhead dash punch followed by dash punch isn’t bad either; much easier and you only lose a couple ticks of damage.
Or you could be lazy like me and always burn ex/do the b+hp reset
Sorry I should have been a bit more clear. Its not so much the charge I am having trouble with, its the timing of hitting the opponent. I always seem to miss the first overhead dash punch, or I hit the opponent with the first dash punch, then I am just a few frames late of the second dash punch connecting.
well it’s wierd, I find that the timing is a bit different in the corner, first try practicing on the twins with 2 mp.dashes, the thing is cancelling the dash in time, how are you holding the buttons? if you’re holding back , u might be walking backwards messing up the timing, try holding db, that might help out a little more. good luck with it and triple taunt your way to success !
Just keep practicing. It just started coming off a lot easier one day. Make sure you know which button to do the dash punches with (different for different characters). I try to mix up my training as well. Too much double dp training will frustrate you sometimes. I think the biggest key to doing it is getting the first dp to hit them as soon as possible so you have the most time to charge. Make sure you are always efficiently overlapping the charge. It’s easy to get sloppy after a long session of practice. Hope this helps!
If anyone is wondering where that other thread went, I offed it. It was scrubby. You learn alot over the course of a year.
Heyyyy, I totally just updated this thing, changed some crap around, added/changed some info, changed some of the matchup advice. And I wrote the changes during class.
YAY!
Updation: redux.
I just added rearranged the videos and then added several new ones, including some of me vs UK Akuma player HarmoNaz, from when I was studying over there during the summer. I’ll put a bunch more vids of Japanese players that are more recent, this is just a first spurt. My comp has had problems uploading things the past few months, finally got it fixed.
Yes!! One of the dudes I play alot plays Akuma! Excellent additions all around. I loved the matches vs. Harmonaz (I can’t wait until Europe get color . . . lol). It’s funny, the guy I play talks a lot about Harmonaz . . . and I talk a lot about you! Keep up the good work!
The BIGGEST shame was that there was no recording of the two matches that I played against David in the actual UK ranking battle that he played in. Both the matches were down to the wire, and I was perspiring. When I won the first game, I remember jumping out of my seat :bgrin:
Damn you David, I had my money on you to win the RB :arazz:
cosign. Every time i start a winning streak with Q, my friends pick Q just to annoy me and tell that Q is not that low tier (!!!). And yes, most of the times, the matches are pretty even, totally unfair since i should be the most experienced.
hey is it just me or it’s actually hard to do command grab -> dash -> ex dash on ken in the corner? do you need to charge partition the 2nd dash? i know you’re supposed to do the 1st dash early, but if i do the ex dash right after it won’t come out, and if i do it late it whiffs…
There’s nothing particularly special about the technique, although admittedly the timing is a little difficult. Just try do charge back, toward-back-punch to get as much time to charge for the second dash punch as possible, try to get the first dash punch in as early as possible, and then try to do the second dash punch as soon as possible. It took me a while to learn too.
I changed some things around, put in some new things I’ve learned, stuff like that.
Not worth the effort of learning. However, it’s similar timing to dash, dash in corner which is worth learning (vs. Yun you can dash, dash xx SAII, which i didn’t know until recently), and that’s just charge partitioning.
the dash ex dash looks cool, but you can do the corner reset for nearly identical damage, and not burn meter. I think the dash ex dash is one of Kurodas trademarks.
