Ultra yang damage

I started playing Yang 1 year ago, so I’m not too good enough.

I know far st.mp being cancel-able is great but it’s pretty much just for it’s range I think. It’s still 6 frame frame start-up and only 2 active frames, right?

Well it’ll be a frame faster than chun’s U1, which is a pretty solid for anti-fireballing. And I think two and five faster than dudley’s and honda’s respectively. So going be that yeah it should be fine.

chun and dudleys hit slower, but they travel like 1/2 to 3/4 screen during the start up

yangs 6 frames are attached to the earliest possible time he can start doing the actual up close attack. like if the opponent was point blank. he still needs to roll for that 1/2 to 3/4 screen distance before he gets to whoever threw the fireball

the actual number for distance traveled till when he starts attacking is probably closer to like 15-20 frames or more

so do we get palm fadc u2 again or no?

Was wondering that myself. It did silly damage in AE, making U1 practically obsolete. It would be a big boost to his punishes/command grab.

nvm we dont… u2 used to be 4f up close which is why it worked

yeah, it’ll be a frame too slow now.

dont know what scenario the 6f helps in. maybe punish some point blank moves that are at least -6. wont be able to tell vs fireballs tho

Ah I forgot it wasn’t for the rolling part. So, if the 6 frames are for the actual attack start up and not the roll I guessing the scenario it’s intended to improve will be as an anti-air?

Medium palm is +4 on hit and the startup of Ultra 2 is 6 frames in Ultra. So it’s not possible to do Ultra 2 after palm.

More consistent/easier corner juggles? I recall there being a few situations where EX roll would hit but not U2 or something of the sort.

I never understood why you can’t link U2 after s.lp, even when it was 4 frames.

Yeah sure, but that still doesn’t explain why s.lp doesn’t work (other than the fact it would be OP as hell lol).

i think maybe it forces you to roll a few frames after a jab

i believe any time you walk in this game, in order to get any movement you have to hold the direction at least 2 frames

maybe a similar rule applies here. where if you have to move any distance forward it increases the startup by 2 frames. in theory the 7f( or 6 in ultra) start up only applies if there is no movement whatsoever

we might be able to test it by doing counterhit stlp linked into U2 from point blank

so i tested it. you can do stlp linked into U2 but its at point blank on a crouching opponent

2 jabs spacing and it has to be a counterhit.

so there is a small amount of rolling if you try to hit confirm into U2 with st.lp

How viable do you guys think fishing for EX RF with cr. MK/st. MP into MP palm will be? With full Ultra 1 stocked(all number reference the more damaging cr. MK), he gets 491 damage, throw in EX palm and he gets 535 damage. Even without Ultra, if he did EX palm, HK roll kick follow up that’s 401 or 346 if he just did cl. HP, HK roll kick. Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is a good deal more than anything he can do right now, even with full bars, right?

I know MP palm is -7 on block but do you think it’s something you guys will fish for? Either trying to whiff punish or confirm off 1 hit or 2 at most? Just wondering because his damage if huge off that. But maybe it will only be for punishing. With jab hit confirms it’s probably not worth it but at least with meter(with or without Ultra), his punishes can really hurt now.

491 is good. I forget does he get around 440 from cr.mk, rekka fadc u1 (tight link)? This EXRF combo might be worth it if the stun is really high. Will mp palm connect from a max distance st.mp though? Wouldn’t worry about the -7 if you are trying to whiff punish or do max distance most likely the palm would hit at least a little meaty.
