Would be nice if capcom allowed target combo fadc sweep.

I actually made a suggestion like that back in Spring time or whenever it was when they put up character threads. I asked for more juggle potential for his target combo so you could land stuff likes sweep or full damage SRK. Since this would only be possible with FADC at the cost of 2 meters, it wouldn’t be too good. It just gives him more options at a price, otherwise their is no reason to FADC target combo.

was testing things using the Ultra change hack for pc:

cr. lp, cr. lp, st. mp xx st. hp is a nice little hit confirm. Does more than cr. lp, cr. lp, srk.
st. hp (delay-cancel) tatsu stills whiffs on alot of characters
was only able to land sweep from tatsu, on 24 characters
H. Axe Kick seems easier to combo

Do not care about anything that you can or cannot to do in this mod related to the LK tatsu and the target combo, they are miles away from what we have seen in the beta builds.

sidenote: I just hope Evil Ryu doesnt comes with 650 HP and a 12f c.mk in the next build.

Will it be possible to combo Standing light punch into crouching heavy kick (similar to Akumas bnb), since its being reduced by 1 frame? Or is there not enough hit stun on standing light punch?

No it still won’t be possible. Stand LP is +5 on hit and sweep is a 6f start up now. But on the bright we do get more character specific sweeps and the current ones now become 2f links now. The real benefit of it comes from tatsu > sweep which should work on 25 of the 39 current characters, no word yet on the 5 new ones.

Seems like he got reverted back to his Alpha Version, with the DP FADC -5 on block. O hope people doesnt start overplaying him otherwise hes gonna get nerfhammered when the game get released to consoles.

ps: Im expecting the game to be patched once more, when it get released for the consoles. Im pretty sure this Arcade online period is a kind of open beta.

I feel his changes are nothing, he’s the same as 2012. No big changes except health kind of. His Heavy axe was a pointless buff. He gets no love when it comes to buffs at all. I feel there’s more they can do to make him better.

E.Ryu’s Hard Axe was a pointless change. His Fst.Mp TG you can’t combo after!. They didn’t do anything to his normals. Cr.HP is still the same, they should have made it faster & able to reach further. I would have wanted His Cr.Mk to be 6 frames instead of having his Cr.HK changed. His Light Axe to be safe. St.lp to come out faster.

I feel they don’t give or do enough to him. But this Oni character gets all the good sh*t. Fast normals, everything connects, like wth. Had better health.

I still love E.Ryu 1 frames though, but somewhat I feel it should be 2. His Light Axe kick on hit could have more hitstun so you can combo after.

I think his changes are pretty good overall. More health is always good, faster sweep helps in footsies and gives him tatsu > sweep against most of the cast, low forward fireball should always be a true block string now, target combo is actually useful now, and no more worrying about hop kick whiffing because of low profile moves. The change to HK axe kick is pretty useless though. I wish they either sped it up all the way to 23f or gave it lower strike invincibility, but that didn’t happen.

Overall I’m satisfied with the changes. I think he’ll be good in Ultra. The only thing I wanted that didn’t happen was for LK axe kick to be safer. I was suggesting for it to be changed to -4(but still +1 on hit) and block. And I saw a lot of other people doing it to. But for whatever reason they decided against it.

BTW, you can combo afterward, it just won’t be huge damage. Mid screen you can FADC into MP, HP, and EX SRK. In the corner you don’t need FADC to do that. So if you land a raw target combo in the corner, it’s actually not a bad idea to blow meter. The extra damage is pretty good(88 when landing a raw TC). The only characters I wouldn’t use it against are the ones where you get a fake cross up against like Ryu or Sakura. It’s going to be nice to able to combo into TC all the time to get that easy set up against them.

E.Ryu is worse in USF4 imo. TC is a useless change(who uses st.mp in footsies? and it’s better to go into a combo than the new TC) and hop kick change isn’t that good too because it’s still really unsafe to throw out in footsies if it whiffs and it’s -2 on block. Delay wakeup is a big nerf to his game because he’s not as scary after a forward throw, axe kick knockdowns, and tatsu sweep anymore. DP fadc nerf sucks because now dp frametraps cost 2 bars and are unsafe. Only good buff is the health increase.

A lot of other characters are getting buffed while e.ryu is staying the same or even worse. You aren’t going to be landing your mixups as often and his ground game isn’t better so Idk how he is considered to be better.

am not sure how peoples can think that he’s gonna be better ?? most of the bad match up can be turned around with setups, now thats everything is gone what the hell are you gonna do against nearly all the cast having better footsies than you ? his cr.mp is a joke compared to ryu , a whiffed cr.mk will lead you to death against certain characters, sweep is still too slow/too much recovery

tatsu > sweep will not work on everyone , only a couple characters more and its gonna most likely be as a 1-2 frame juggle, you’ll still not be able to combos into it without lk tatsu juggle ( outside the twin/ibuki/gen/chun … ), and even then, whats the point since your opponent will DWU anyways ? same for throws

unless we find a new way to counter DWU with setups i highly doubt that we will have as much fun as now with E.ryu

The people who say E.Ryu is going to be top tier are just saying it because Sako bodied everyone at Capcom Cup and they all think he is a secret top tier so when he gets buffed he will be even better. They don’t realize though that Sako has crazy setups which will be useless with delay wakeup and if you look at evil ryu buffs none of them are really big changes. Other characters are getting better stuff when he already struggles with characters with good footsies.

IKR!. Everyone does that shit. Someone wins a tournament etc. People think that characters the best or is going to be the best. Its not the character its the PERSON playing the character that’s makes the character good when THEY use him. Or they nerf a character based on example Sako bodying everyone, people want him nurfed. E.Ryu is the same to. I know E.Ryu too good!. He gets no love when it comes to buffs. Only good thing is health buff. Hell his TG in 2012 I NEVER used. His sweep was pointless I never used it as a footsies.

Sako might be able to win some tournaments with him because of his godlike footsies , at least for the first year/months, when peoples will adjust to DWU am pretty sure he’ll drop him , either that or he will find some new setups, based around soft knockdown maybe ? but then you’ll sacrfice lots of damage … just look how E.ryu get molested by balrog , and he’s getting buffed …

Cross posting my thoughts from the USF4 top 10 prediction thread because it fits the discussion that’s going on right now

Maybe Evil Ryu won’t be top tier in Ultra, but regardless I think he’ll be a good character. I consider him mid right now and he’s getting nothing but buffs. He was never a mix up character and I don’t think his corner mix ups are as important as some think. They’re situational and he needs meter to land his FADC combos in the first place which leaves little room to have a extra 2 bars to FADC his SRK into heavy axe kick. I was never a believer that the set ups decided his match ups. The only match up that was all about set ups was against Cammy.

Lets just use Sako as a example. When he beat Xian in the Capcom Cup finals, he didn’t land let alone attempt a single fake cross up against Gen and won 3-0 despite that. When Sako played Fuudo in the Topanga Asia league, he won that despite not landing any unblockables(correct me if I’m wrong though) because Fuudo kept using EX chicken wing to get out of the corner and Sako would OS HK tatsu for only 40 damage. It was a nice bonus, but not a match up changer IMO because you needed meter and for your opponent to be in the corner unlike other characters that could get easy mid screen set ups from a throw or sweep.

I think his buffs do help him quite a bit. More than you would think. I don’t want to go through each change and explain why, but I will if you want to discuss it. Besides that, everybody is losing their hard knock down set ups, so Evil Ryu won’t be alone in this. Having a strong neutral game will be more important. And though he isn’t that great at that, he can deal a lot of damage from that position which most can’t do. At worse he’ll still be mid, but I think he’ll end up a little better than that. Which would be good enough to win majors without having to need Sako be the guy playing him.

People here tends to whine for nothing, E.Ryu is one of the few char who only get buffs ( i don’t count the FADC nerf as it is a global one), and they are all useful unless the HK axe kick one. I laughed so hard when i read " only a couple characters more" can be swept when it is 20 more characters. TC combo can be used to whiff punish + knockdown without meter where s.mp xx tatsu whiffs. Vitality buff is pretty huge when we know how hard E.ryu hit, f.mk will beat c.mk clean how it was supposed to be, c.mk will be a true blockstring even at the tip of his foot… Really i dont understand all the whine above.
