Ultra Street Fighter 4 | General Lounge

I really want to know more about delayed wakeup. So many questions.

He already shared information he probably was not soppose to, now you want the exact frame data for it…
If that’s the case " hey dev can tell your source to parachute onto Capcom USA’s building, climb through a vent, rope down, and take steal the 5th character files, thx! Better yet just steal the latest build, thx again!"

Well if he wants to do that, no problems with me.

sweet I can actually play a fighting game again instead of calculus and execution fighter 101.

All of them: “What the fuck?”

I don’t WANT the fundamentals of the game to change. Add more characters that’s cool… even add ultra select. Then they go ahead adding some red focus bullshit and now delayed wake up? I thought we’re playing a 2d fighter… bullshit.

So if delayed wakeup is in, it might be a good idea to start thinking about that guard meter. Easy reversals, backdashes, focus, red focus, quick rise, delayed wakeup is going to be too many defensive options. There needs to be some kind of backswing in the other direction at the neutral game.

In fact, if Capcom is clever about this, a guard meter could actually be beneficial for fostering a footsies based game. Make it so that guard damage is heavily weighted to medium and heavy normals. Make it so that specials are very weak to guard damage so that blocking fireballs doesn’t become a liability and so that mk. air tatsu -> dp fadc ->dp fadc -> dp isn’t a guaranteed guard break.

You’re overreacting. First of all, delayed wake-up isn’t even confirmed yet. Second, do you really think that Ayano is just going to throw in Red Focus without making sure it works properly and is balanced? He has been stressing and stressing balance so I’m sure it’ll be fine. These changes will indeed change the meta game, but not to the degree that you’re talking about. The game needs changes and additions like this to keep it fresh.

Listen here dat nigga, I’m not overreacting. I’m an invested fan in the series, with both time and money. I’m sure most people on this site are the same age I am (25-30) that have been playing this game since we were kids… I spent a lot of money on this game and I feel like I’m allowed to state my opinion on it. It’s not about being balanced or not… SF is almost always a relatively balanced game, it’s about overcomplicating it. I don’t want all those extra mechanics… aint these guys ever heard, if it aint broke don’t fix it?

Be wild if they added the option to forward and/or backward roll on wake up when you got knocked down with a hard knock down move. But if you could have tech’d and didn’t, you just got up in the same spot like normal.

It would be wild. Like, mentally wild. As in, wrong in the brain.

oki game dead?

Maybe we should add double jumps, high jumps, triple jumps, shorts jumps, siderolls, forwards rolls, backward rolls, give every character 10 more supers and ultras, and add a rainbow mode.

I actually would like to play a Marvel style SF game at some point, with completely over the top shit. Could be stupid fun.

And viola, Utra Street Fighter IV:

So KoF XIII.

  1. I hope they remove invincibility from back dashes, there should be more risk to doing them. Having a fast far reaching back dash is good enough doesn’t need invincibility. This would also help in the delayed wake up issue.

  2. I doubt it, but I also hope they completely revamp the net code. I play SFxT, SF4, Skullgirls, and KOF XIII and SF4 is the worst of the bunch by far. It makes it really hard to play since it is so different from offline.

Backdashes need invul otherwise many characters would literally not be able to do anything about level 3 focus in the corner on their wakeup.

What if you flagged lvl 3 focus as a projectile similar to yun and yangs palm then gave backdashes projectile invincibility?

backdashing a projectile would cause you to dash back into it and then the meaty lvl 3 focus problem would be solved.

Just tossing out ideas

Well whatever they do. I’m sure it’ll turn out ok. They seem to be putting a lot of effort in to make Ultra as balanced and as fair as possible. Maybe will also be having some top players and people that are good at exploiting systems testing and all that. Who knows. Speculating here with what ifs’ and how it would or wouldn’t work only passes the time for fun. Least that’s how I see it shrugs

Air parry’s for the win.
