I just wish there was a PS4/Xbone version so when we play this game in tournament or live casuals, it will look just as crystal clear as it does on PC. It kind of sucks to go back to the blurry, jaggy, muddy console version after playing PC only for so long.
I remember reading they wont be bringing the SF4 update to PS4 or Xbone a while before Ultra was announced. I believe the quote was something along the lines of “Street Fighter 4 defined this console generation for fighting games”
I think they’d rather do USF4 on PS3/PC/360 as it takes less effort than porting to a whole new system then likely they will start work on a whole new SF game to be released a few years from now.
first of all I don’t understand why so many are negative about this. SF4 is already a classic game, why not work to keep that classic fresh and engaging for as long as possible with updates? I hope this isn’t the final one. I don’t want FREQUENT updates - but I’d be more than happy with a few new characters + rebalancing every couple years.
Also, Super gave us a 2nd ultra to choose from. I wish they’d give each character a 3rd in this one, would add a little more depth.
First of all, I’m hoping that the rebalance makes the choice of ultras a little harder to make. And also, because they’re eye-catching to casual players, and new players! They’re a huge part of the visual aesthetic appeal of the game. Why not expand upon that?
It’s good value yes but the problem with your argument is that CoD map packs are optional extras. I don’t own any of them and I can still find games as easily as before. You’re pretty much forced to buy Ultra. Ideally the new content should be $15 but the balance changes should be free.
I’m a bit bitter that my original SF4 is literally useless
Black Ops 2 map packs usually have completely new maps. Only occasionally they have throwbacks to older maps and even then they’re completely redone. The map design will be similar but in terms of aesthetics it’s mostly new.
New graphics would be nice. Tired of ape Ryu. Remodel him to look like Alpha, and make the DP not so fucking trash, make him basically play like SFA1+ST fireball speed, make his character theme one of the 2D versions, except SF3, make the final stage his SF2 stage.
Add Karin. She would actually be good with the floaty ass flip reset mixup shit that SFIV favors.
SFIV would go from the worst game ever to… good enough to play.
…But the SF characters in SFxT only have 1 super out that resembles their SF4 counterparts. Why would they recycle animations that make no sense? Unless Ultra 3 will be the intro to their team super maybe? If that’s the case Juri will be the coolest character in the game and Akuma will just chuck a bitch, but that doesn’t make sense… I’m so confused. I’ve even seen someone say launcher will be their focus. Ryu, Juri, Chun li, Ken, etc have focus attacks that don’t look like their launcher in xT why would it be true for backporting exclusive xT characters? If we’re throwing out ideas that don’t make sense I want Ryu’s Joudan Sokutogeri/Donkey kick for a focus attack.
Another thing that bothers me is when error1 ported over Rolento he had janky animations because Rolento wasn’t rigged to fit in the engine he was oddly animated. But the second he showed it was possible people wanted Capcom to put Rolento AND Elena (finally the 2 african stages make sense), and other exclusive SF side xT characters in SF4. Now people get exactly what they want (characters and balance), professionally done and more importantly tournament viable and it’s still not good enough…for 15 dollars. Wow.
Jesus dude you bought SFxT get over it. Wowee the characters were on the disc you’re angry. It sucks; it happens. But what do you want them to do? Recall all SF4 discs to put these characters on the disc to give you a legitimate reason to gripe? Because right now the fact that they were in xT has nothing to do with SF4.
And yes of course they want money; it’s a business. And obviously charging effectively 15 dollars for a large patch with new characters is the best way to maximize revenue… (or even 40 for 20-25 dollars of DLC).
I’m not even gonna comment on whether or not it’s lazy because it can be argued that certain things (like stages) are lazy, but they need to create character themes for the newcomers (not lazy). It’s not even a new practice. Do you remember MvC2’s reused sprite haven? It’s just gonna be a training stage fest anyways.
I dunno bro changing firing range into a studio and making summit look more high tech is hardly a difference. It’s just simple retexturing all the assets and UVs are there. And “usually” is a synonym for “occassionally” lol.
I thought the lazier days of Capcom taking assets from games into others ended when SF went 3D.
I am happy about this, however.
And lol at any suggestion for the 5th character outside the realm of reality.
It won’t be from anything not related to SF. It won’t be fucking Mega Man, Asura, Forgotten Worlds, Marvel series, Resident Evil, God Hand, or anything else.
SF won’t have stupid guest characters. Give it a rest. And it will be someone who has yet to be in a SF. So that means no goddamn Karin.
My only disappointment with the stages is that the best one of them all, the dojo stage, isn’t getting in due to obvious Tekken references.
This, after a couple of months in, most of the shit in the trials is useless anyway.
Except that in a professional environment, what modders do actually costs money. Remember Mike Z’s rant where he revealed that it cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars to reskin a character for a PS2 game (a sequel that reused assets at that) back when he was in Pandemic? Posts like this just go to show that you people have no idea what it costs to make games.
I can’t wait for the release, but I honestly like playing them most basic maps almost little to no design.
But is the DLC worth the extra money though?
